Thanks for watching. I had 276 in there for about 6 years, I always felt they died off too quickly so i traded a buddy for 288. It definitely helped pick up top end, i wish i had dyno numbers back to back. I feel like i got another 5-800rpm out of them
Okay new tune, P&P Head with bigger valves 32/41 or if you are above stock displacement 32/42mm, and as someone suggested maybe an SRI. Also is your lower intake manifold ported and gasket matched to your exhaust manifold so you get an even flow?
Pretty crazy I believe the DRC cams have the same intake lift as TT 288 I feel those cams are not as good as claimed! Just my opinion! Be keep in mind headwork Vp gas and short runner can change those numbers on top especially the SRI! I’d be curious to send you a Janky SRI just to do testing on it to see what changes
I think the short runner would benefit it most. Ill get around to making one eventually since i plan to turbo it. Id re dyno it then. Yea feel the same about the 288 When i bought their 276 7 years ago and asked them about rev limiter they said 7250 But based off the 288 not making really anything past 6k feels like i got lead on. Make perfect sense why its always been dead uptop with the 276 cams. I bet power falls off at 5500
@@SmithsEuro I literally just had this conversation with Steven the Jetta from Lugtronics that has the twin brother Matt from Connecticut and told him he should try a set of DRC 268 cams or autotech cams and the reason I say this is because on a 16 valve I found when I had my turbo motor and was doing a lot of testing I had a set of 288 also 276 a set of 268 from Techtonics and the 268 cams were Schrick and the autotech 262 put all those bigger cams in there place by 23hp so it basically doubled their power! And right now I’m literally finishing a turbo motor for my caddy and I went with a set of autotech cams also. And I do have a set of 268. DRC cams. You should also look up Piper Cams and the Rally VAG Cams work really well and make power above 6k all day! I know I have a set!!!
That would definitely help, but when i do put a short runner on itll be because im going turbo. I wont be able to see the increase for N/A unfortunately
@@SmithsEuro you will see gains even with na. Search for schimmels and nubworks n/a dynos. I've tried 4 different sri's on my vrt and the one thing in common is shorter runners = shift power to the right. Obviously the results are magnified with boost.
Got to love the VR6 😮❤
That's pretty awsome for mild head work with a chip . Micro should help you get over the 200hp mark.
Love that 12V VR6 but I would really like to see if there are any differences on the chip tunes because I'm interested in the UM chip.
I have a stage 1 UM chip. Felt a lot better than the TT chip I had in my obd2 vr6.
i have reflect tuning in mine.
This is good content. Thanks man. My mk3 is pretty similar, but with 276 cams. Never had it on a dyno though.
Thanks for watching.

That would be cool. For all the vr6 fans out there, you hardly find any vr6 horsepower science content.

Bigger vales dont do much on these motors from what ive seen
Porting the head and a short runner i think it would be 205-210hp
Ya quiero ver la diferencia con la microsquirt! Saludos desde 🇵🇷 P.R
Great video!!!!!

I wouldn’t mind another set ill have to look into them.
But im saving still for my 3.6 cams from kPtuned
Eventually ill get to the 3.6.
I'm having the same issue issue with my tt288 using a chip ecu. Mine feel like it hit a brick wall at 6k. Think it's the flow of the head.
I agree. I think a short runner intake would help extend it out a few rpms but i doubt it would be worth the money.
You'll need shorter runners on the intake manifold to shift the powerband to the right
That would definitely help, but when i do put a short runner on itll be because im going turbo.
