Dave, per our recent correspondence, I have downloaded the profiles for my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I thought I had to shoot in 12 mp RAW to utilize these profiles. However, I was able to shoot in ProRaw at 48mp and these worked as well. As we know, this completely over processes the image and makes it crunchy etc. with the machine learning incorporated into the algorithm. I took a 48 mp ProRaw shot this weekend and opened it up in ACR where I applied the linear profile. It worked great! It softened everything up. I believe that I was able to keep the higher resolution photo this way. I don't think I will ever edit another photo without using a linear profile to start as I am an iPhone only photographer. Thank you!
In the Import Dialog you can also set up an Import Preset which saves the import settings. Save one for each camera and then simply select the corresponding Import Preset when you import RAW images from one of your cameras.
In the Preset panel of Lightroom Preferences you can check “Override global settings for specific cameras”. Then for each camera model add the preset you created with the profile for that camera. This saves another bit of time on Import, and you don’t have to remember which preset to set the On Import preset for that particular camera model.
Thanks for the video. So great that you label the software correctly, i.e. Lightroom Classic. So many editing videos just say “Lightroom” which, thanks to Adobe renaming, is in fact their cloud version. Most of what you see on UA-cam is in about using Adobe Lightroom Classic. The cloud version is not the same. I wish everyone would be precise in naming exactly what they are talking about. Adobe has created the confusion. There are also old videos out there. The two versions are not fully backwards and forwards compatible and, as best I can work out, the cloud version at least can not do a Topaz DeNoise AI plug-in, and maybe more. You are pretty much locked in to buying both if you want the remote access. Actually I’m happy to carry an SSD with me, no big imposition. Thanks again.
Always learning from your videos. I wasn't aware of the Auto check box in the make new preset window. I also wasn't aware of import with preset when importing. Now off to make some new presets. Cheers again.
Since I watched your very first video suggesting the use of Linear Profile I've been using it, and I was wondering how to apply it to the import proccess. Now I'll surely create the presets for my import proccess. Thank you so much for this video, Mr. Kelly. Best regards from Rio de Janeiro/Brazil.
Hi Dave: Thanks for creating and sharing this video. This will be a big time-saver indeed. I’m shot with two different camera bodies so it is too bad that LR doesn’t allow you to build a preset that incorporates both camera bodies in the same preset and then only applies that Linear Profile that matches the actual camera build. Maybe I will send Adobe a suggestion to incorporate this expanded functionality into future releases. Cheers, Keith
It would be very worthhile to show not just how to use these linear profiles, but WHY. SHow a comparison between adjusting an image with and without the linear profile applied--the difference in image quality is definite and sometimes startling. I have done this many times and have been converted to using these almost always. I even tried the same comparison on images taken with my Iphone and these results are not as consistent but sometimes helpful.
Always great content, Dave, including this one. Just as an alternate thinking... I always use the linear camera profile but I stopped using it in an import preset, and here's why: For my workflow, I like to have the original embedded preview visible for my initial culling of the images. OH - I didn't realize I could set AUTO in the preset so... old dog new tricks! I also use a metadata preset to ensure that my images all have an appropriate copyright tag.
Hi Dave, thanks for this video, a great help especially when tied in with the suggestion from Ed Bacon. I have 2 cameras plus an iPhone 13. I have set up my presets for both cameras but still trying to figure out best workflow for getting images from iPhone into lightroom with profiles applied, any suggestions?
Thx as usual for a great video. I noticed that when you create an "Auto" version linear preset the newly added amount slider cannot be selected. I couldn't find a reason in Adobe for this. Ideas?
There is a reason. The Preset slider doesn't work for every type of preset but I am not sure of the reason why. I would need to do some research on it...

This is the video that keeps on giving as more of us incorporate linear profiles into our workflow. Thank you.

Thanks for getting back to me on this Dwight. I love using the iPhone and it's always with me, unless I leave it behind by mistake.

Thanks Dave. This is exactly what I needed. Best, Doug
I always use the Linear Profile and was thinking for weeks how to apply these to my import workflow. You made my day, Dave!
Great timing Dave.. And yes the time saved is significant…. See you Friday..👍

Very useful as always. Thank you!
Never mind, You answered my questions in the video. Thanks again Dave.

Super useful tips from the videos and the comments. I’ll put them to good use very soon.
Thanks Dave, really appreciate this workflow

The iPhone is a bit different. I don't have any suggestions yet.

I wonder why "Lens correction" and "chromatic aberration" aren't on by default. Wouldn't that be easier. I always forget to do it.
I agree with you SRG.
Do you have linear profile for GoPro Hero 10 and DJI Mavic Air 2?
