I’ve had a coaching session with Professor G, highly recommend it 👌🏼
Thankyou for the feedback and rec! You rock
what did you learn that isnt in his videos?
What you said is very true! I was thinking of getting rich faster and took risky stocks, ending up with big losses. I finally changed my mind to accept DCA.
Same here 😂
My first investment in a stock many years ago went from $65 a share to $0.03 a share. 😂 I feel you. I, too, said never again.
1. Simple Portfolio - ✔ - Thanks for that Professor G
2. Emergency Fund - ✔ - 8 months down, 4 to go for the bonus
3. Coaching - ✔ - Some of the best money I’ve ever spent right here via this channel.
4. Research - B minus - I need to do better. BUT the right combo of ETF's are an awesome "cheat code" to get in the game while you do research. Don't do SO much research that you take too long to start or worse... use it as an excuse to never get started.
5. Trying to WIN is risky. Simple slow growth, leaning on compound interest and time just feels best. - Again, I thank Professor G.
Such an A+ comment my friend! It’s been fun to watch your progress!
How do you know what to start tho , for someone who never even seen business once where’s a good start in your opinion ?
It’s 63 and don’t have many years to invest, I am advising my boys to do what I wasn’t able to do. To start investing early. I am just trying to make what little money I have to work and produce a little income for me to supplement social security once I start drawing it.
You are a very good teacher, Professor G. I really appreciate how you explain things. I believe everyone, particularly young people, needs to hear AND learn the basic concepts that you are sharing in this video. If I understood how to play "this game" over 30 years ago, I would be a multi-millionaire today! Thank you for compacting your years of experience and sharing it with us through your videos. Keep up the great work young man. You are doing a great service for the next generation.

I appreciate you!
I also have an MBA in Finance and I still watch your videos for one very important reason. Bussines schools teach you about things like M&A, Coporate Finance and how to interpret balance sheets. They do not teach you things that are of practical use to an individual investor. In two years not one of my professors even mentioned what an ETF was, seemed to be alllegic to words like S&P 500 or Hang Seng (the local Hong Kong index) and had an unfortunate habit of focusing on unessecary details like memorizing the formula for calculating volatility of beta. Your videos just will present information that is of actual use to us in a clear conscise manner, so thank you and keep up the good work
If you’re DCA’ing you’re probably buying on a sale right now.
Even if you’re not. Just invest whatever you have at anytime. Can’t time the market
@@beautybeyondveneers yep, I paid off all my debt and saved up 12mn emergency so I basically invest almost down to the last dollar in a side investment account in addition to retirement. If I need the extra money, I just pause or slow down my investment until I have it.
I see this downturn as a good thing.
It's only August, and I already see many of my dividend stocks and ETFs in red, not even October yet. I know this game is long-term, and I have over 10 years to go, but it's just so sad to see my gains fading away. However, my plan is to stay the course, but sometimes I think about selling some of my gains during the peak of green ones that way during this bloody bath, I can buy back in at lower prices. But again, no one knows what the future brings.
It would be great if it worked out that way. More often than not it doesn’t end up like that! Timing the market is so tough
Keep calm, carry on. The truth is, a 10% correction on the nas isn’t a blood bath. It’s normal. The fact that we haven’t had two or three additional 5% + corrections is unusual.
Also, there is nothing wrong with realizing some gains to dca back with if you believe there is a correction happening or about to happen. That said, it should be part of a pre-planned strategy, such as a re-balance or category shift, not just out of fear of seeing red.
If you are a long term investor then selling and trying to time the market it becomes trading.
It’s hard to keep on course but that’s the only way ,I am with you
Very down to earth and honest and informative, good work thanks Prof. G.
Thankyou so much for the support!

Keep focused and consistent in the long term!
I don't want to be rich, I just want to live a comfortable life. We are a family of five. I'm heavily paying down debt now and saving/investing just a little bit, but consistently. I'm already retired, but still working. My priority is my kids and their future and currently working towards that. I set them up with the three fund portfolio plus a few individual stocks. I know that by the time I'm gone out of this world, I'll leave happy cause I managed to help them out. I just hope they continue what I started for them. There's no way I'm passing up good advice. Thanks G!
I'm just working on financial freedom with passive income. So far I'm debt free, have a 3 month HYSA, opened my Roth IRA 2 years ago, have a good amount in my 401ks and company matching, a good amount in my brokerage, and now I'm just working on getting into real estate.
Professor, I understand now with your help. No more chasing 10x.
Thank you
I will be forever grateful to you, you changed my whole life and I will continue to preach on your behalf for the whole world to hear you saved me from huge financial debt with just a small investment, thank you Elizabeth Galano😊

Appreciate the advice I’ve lost a ton the last couple of weeks, would you say now is the best time to buy more VTI, SCHD, and QQQ? And stay the course
You haven’t lost if you haven’t sold! But yes I’m buying this dip in the three fund portfolio big time!
Don't Sell and keep buying

Stay invested either bull or bear market!~
Thank you for this great content, I just started to invest this month VFV (30%), ZNQ (25%), XEI (10%), XEQT (10%), HTA (15%) and ZWB (10%). I'm 58% exposed on technology in order to growth. What do you think guys about it? Yes there is overlap between VFV and ZNQ but this is on purpose. Thx!
Loved how you said there isn’t a prize medal ceremony for beating the S&P 500! I am a sensible person when it comes to investing but God I really needed to hear that! Bless you Prof G!
Happy that resonated with you!
I needed to hear tip #4. thank you so much for your consistency.
Glad to hear it! You got this!
As Dave Ramsey says, "Your most powerful wealth-building tool is your income." The snowball effect from decades of dividend investing since the late 1980s has worked for me. It takes time, patience and the strength to resist the hype over the latest Nividia. My investment income streams come from almost two hundred individual dividend paying stocks and REITs, private market real estate funds, ETFs, index mutual fund, bonds, and CDs. As your income increases and is reinvested, it snowballs and opens more doors to investment opportunities. Good luck to all.
Very very true! I don’t agree with everything Ramsey says, but this one is true
Thank you for the honest advice. Proverbs 27:6 - "Faithful are the wounds of a friend..." It's always healthy to get recalibrated when it comes to investing. Great video.
Excellent video, Professor G! Having invested successfully for many years, I strongly believe that your investment tenets and three fund portfolio are brilliant. Nice work!
I appreciate you Darryl!
"Shout out to Simone--you crushed it girl." 🤣🤣🤣 THE GOAT
Another great video and you are the only UA-camr that answers questions. I put in Fsaix ,schd, and schg and im up about 40k this year. So these drops i take advantage and buy more. I thank you for that for your great info.
Great work! Sounds like you are on track!!
Interesting video and good to mix it up from your usual. I see you are in your new office. Looks like a mirror image of what it was previously. Hopefully the setup is more conducive to your needs. Keep up the great work!
Thankyou very much and yes good to finally have it done
Great info! I’ll admit I have a few ETFS i think could (key word is could) add an extra percentage point or two to the average return such as qqqm for the tech heavy nasdaq and SPSM for small cap exposure, in addition to foundation etfs such as VTI and SCHD but whatever happens happens just trying to spread out the investments.
Thanks for the confirmation. Need it from time to time ❤
Thank you Professor G for sharing your knowledge with us. It is much appreciated. Keep up the great work.
Thankyou very much!
BRK is a what has made me the most money for 35 years. I’m sticking with it
What to do with current market? Hold or sell? 😅 This bother me more than everything. Have VOO, SPYD, SCHG, SCHD and some bonds.
Buy!😄
Next 3 months maybe like this. So, be prepared and stay on course with DCA. Buy the dip!
Hold and buy more! Dollar cost averaging for the win.
great video professor g! how important do you think expense ratios are in deciding what funds to invest in?
I’d say very important but sometimes the consistent out-performance will justify the higher expense
keep pumping out those financial informational videos Professor G!!!!
I tried buying individual stocks few years ago. Lost my butt on one. I’m sticking to your 3 fund portfolio till retirement. I have a small holding of Nvda left soon as I’m up on that I’m taking profits and sticking to ETFs.
Im here to support you Prof.G, everything just on point and love to hear it
I appreciate you!!
I have learned so much from you. Thank you!
🙏🏆
Having one year expenses is the best tip. that is my goal
So important!
Did you switch everything in your room around or were you editing it to look the other way?
Wow attention to detail big time! I actually got a new office so I set it up like my old one but flipped due to how the office was laid out
Very wise advice. And what a bad decision to pay for a stock at a PE ratio of 425.39. It's total insane to whait 425 years for returns on investment. By the way, I'm not a millionaire but richer. Thank's for sharing!
When I was 19 I put all of my spare money consistently into single stock picks which were basically the MAG 7. June 2022 I unexpectedly lost my job and had to sell off my holdings to pay for living expenses during the pullback late 2022. From being up 100% at some points I had sold almost everything at a loss. Learned the emergency fund lesson the hard way and everytime I think about the lost gains on the rebound I cry alittle inside haha
It’s because I’m waiting for a crash…. Sidelines in my HYSA haha
Well done Professor! Is it wise to include 5 percent of my individual stocks with a part of my 3 fund portfolio?
If you’d like to, then sure! I personally keep it to under 10-15% total
Thanks for the video! How would you modify the percentages in your three funds portfolio if you’re nearing retirement? Would you still keep it all at 33 percent?
Thanks for sharing your story. Loved the doggo 😍
Basher says Thankyou!
You sound like Graham 😊
Hey, I've been watching your videos for a couple years now and have followed the 3 ETF Portfolio with VOO, SCHD and QQQ. Are these still your top picks or has anything changed? Thanks!
Those are my big 3 yes! (I prefer qqqm over qqq for the lower expense)
@@NolanGouveia SCHG seems even better though?
Prof G, what do you think about infinite banking concept?
I think I should go for tip #3 to make sure I'm on the right track to retire in 19 years.
🏆
Do you think it is solid and secure enough to invest only in US Stocks like the S&P 500? A global ETF could take some potential risks of the future. What is your opinion?
I choose S&P 500 over a global etf as the international portion has underperformed terribly, but I do see the merit to hold a small portion of international if you’d like!
Thanks for your perspective! Beside ETF we can also add individual stocks like ASML or LVMH from other regions to diversify.
Nice professor! Could you please make some videos on investing in Mid-cap and Small-cap ETF investing or do you think they are not worth investing!
I’m going to focus on my emergency fund from 2025.
Here in New Zealand we have an auto enrolment system called kiwi saver. I’ve been putting the maximum amount of 10% of my salary in whilst the maximum any employer can put in is 3%. I should hit the target amount I was hoping for in that fund in December, from January I’ll reduce my contributions to 3% and use the surplus to build up my emergency fund. After a few months of that I’ll have the means to start building up my 3 fund portfolio 🙌🏼
Kiwisaver is not the best sadly, as they're all managed funds with higher expense ratios, wish we could put kiwisaver in ETFs, and that there was no FIF tax :(
It may be the wrong way to look at it, but I don't consider that I've "lost" anything until it cuts into my original investment. I'm down a bit, but it's still more than I would have had if I had put the money in my sock drawer, plus I'm still getting dividends. I've put investing on auto pilot and instead increased my working income by double what it was 18 months ago. Gives me more to save AND invest. I feel like I am my best asset to gain wealth.
Great tips 👌🏽
Thanks! Which was your favorite?

I've beaten the market by a lot the last 5 years averaging 35% returns, but not taking it for granted. I ramped up my investment contributions and diversified... Nvidia was the primary reason I beat the market, so that was a bit lucky.
My portfolio is down a ton and through the volatility it becomes more and more a dog eat dog game. I'll continue buying nice dips into etfs with 100 plus companies. Who knows when our economy will recover and we have news recently of more and more stores and companies closing down. Best to cover more basis and win some then lose A LOT.

True, some folks employ hedging strategies or devote a portion of their portfolio to defensive assets that perform well and such pointers are provided by engaging the services of market experts just like i did in 2019, amid rona-outbreak, and as of today, i can boost of a 45% enhancement on my $1m portfolio after acquiring assets recommended by my advisor.

Stupid noob questions. If I bought about 20% VOO and QQQM in the last 2 months (last time I bought both was this week). I have about $800 loss in those particular batches that were bought in July and Aug 1st. Can I tax loss harvest? or do I need to keep them for some time until I can tax loss harvest? and is it worth to bother to harvest $800?
Why would you want to sell out of them though? They are meant to hold long term
@@NolanGouveia I thought to exchange QQQM into another growth fund like SCHG and exchange VOO into VTI and use tax loss harvesting to apply to tax bill
