Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Im rly liking the variance in their songs so far and hope they keep it up. Something i always enjoyed about etid was the variance throughout the years. Even comparing songs from the same album, there was still quite a bit of variance. And paired with keiths lyrics capabilities, im hoping for a solid concept album
I cant say this is a bad song nor merely a Keith song. Sounds like a Many Eyes song. For those upset about the heaviness, this one is going break necks live (in the same kinda way Deftones does that live). But damn is this ever radio friendly. In a way that i can say ive heard this song and structure before by thousands of other bands. Really trying to avoid ETID comparisons here. Theyve got a mellow bunch but theres some spice that always set them (mellow songs) apart from their peers. Eh, i guess my only concern here is this band being 'just another band' when i know thats not and shouldnt be the case.

It's giving Thing With Feathers. A little tame for my taste considering the energy in the first two singles, but I'm impressed with the range this song demonstrates. Love the bass line. Ultimately, it excites me for what the rest of the album could sound like.
