Tasty little critters. Digging soft shells is very hard work. I’ve done it as an amateur, & you will discover muscles that you didn’t know you had & that now hate you. But omg, they taste wonderful, especially when steamed in large enough quantities. Much respect to all the pro diggers. They deserve our thanks, & the money they earned.

This video was shot about 18 months ago. The diggers were getting about $5/lb at that time. After dealer markup and shipping you would pay $10-15/lb at retail stores.

I dig don’t look at how much I can make in a tide just enough to make a decent living think more about the future of it

Hey thanks for the comment. Where do you dig??? What I found most impactful from our trip with Dan was how he really cared about this environment, and his concern that there really aren’t any young guys coming into the business. Too many people are losing touch with the environment, they’ll talk about what they see in the news but no one actually gets outdoors.

Try digging sand worms or blood worms it's a shorter tide I dig sands usually 2 hours more of a spring
I've seen guys dig 250 pounds in a tide in about 4 hours of clams

I try not to get in the way but I think we cut Dan’s production down a bit that day. He was a great guide and loves what he does. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.
