    What grit do you use on your belt sander for spot weld removal?

    How do you know which temperature / amperage to set the welder to, to weld the butt joints?

    • @AUTOBODYTECH
      @AUTOBODYTECH  3 дні тому +1

      Here, I show my settings on the welder I use. Every welder is going to be different, so it's difficult to answer ua-cam.com/video/cm-93kOha2o/v-deo.html

      @@AUTOBODYTECH oh, thanks, that is so nice of you! I suppose I should rephrase my question: when or how did you know that the tack welds are correct? Higher voltage or amperage is easy - the weld burns through and melts the surrounding metal - but how about amperage and voltage too low, what happens then?

    • @AUTOBODYTECH
      @AUTOBODYTECH  3 дні тому +1

      @AnnatarTheMaia it wouldn't be hot enough to fuse the metal and would act as if it were just sitting on top instead
      The best thing you can do is test the welds on the same thickness spare sheet of metal and check the backside for penetration. You would see a tiny bump.

    What kind of saw are you using to get the straight even cuts

    • @AUTOBODYTECH
      @AUTOBODYTECH  5 місяців тому +1

      It's an astro pneumatic saw

    Why did you belt sand the inside of the replacement panel?

    • @AUTOBODYTECH
      @AUTOBODYTECH  19 днів тому +1

      @Tay-Yen better conductivity. Cleaner spot welds. Weld through primer is applied over the bare metal. When welded, the heat will liquify the primer galvanizing the weld with corrosion protection

    • @Tay-Yen
      @Tay-Yen 18 днів тому

      @AUTOBODYTECH Usually, I don't. I prefer keeping it oem, but I see why it keeps blowing up when I use the spot welder, especially under the sill

      @@Tay-Yen it's possible that's why that happens to you. Give this a try and see if anything changes

    What is that thing on your airline? Is that something for easy attachments of air tools? Sometimes it’s hard to put on my tools because the end is old and get stuck.
