I think you should made scars a bit darker to make them look old, like a witcher with more experience. Im polish, a witcher fan and i like your costume. Good job makeing the costume. Good luck on a trail.

The gap on the breastplate would help absorb impact like the domed breastplates medieval knights had.

Can you go into a little more detail on which Bonnie pattern was used and how you altered it for the gambeson? I’m planning to make some ursine armor for my trip to the local ren fair and got the same Bonnie patterns set you note in the video but none of them have the same cut as the Witcher Ursine armor. Did you also alter length and simply sew on the extra piece of suede on the bottom? The video is already so helpful and can’t wait to make my own Witcher armor!

Hi Austin! Since the pattern was for a male, I had to take in the sides quite a bit to have it not look baggy on myself, much like making a hour glass seam in my case. I measured my waist, bust, and hips, added a few inches for comfort, and sewed inwards along the seam from my arm pit to the bottom of where the second half of the gambeson met (the brown suede). It took about three tries of taking in fabric by sewing a few centimeters each time, until I was happy with the fit. Kinda like this |) (| where the straight line was the original seam from the pattern and the curved line is where I took in the fabric.
I also pretty much made the sleeves from scratch, which luckily is not too difficult even without a pattern. First just measure length from armpit to wrist, add a couple inches for seam allowance and making a cuff, then measure the width at your widest circumference at your bicep and your thinnest at your wrist, adding several inches again for comfort and seam allowance. Make a mockup on paper or muslin first. I cuffed my sleeve to finish the look. The pattern basically looks like a tapered rectangle.
For the suede portion, that was the easier part. I just extended down the length of the gambeson I needed and cut out the suede, added seam allowance, and sewed it to the grey part. So yes, I did just alter the length and sew on the suede, the important part is remembering to add seam allowance when sewing it back on.
Overall the Bonnie pattern was difficult to use other than to give me a very general start to the look and shape of my gambeson. I am trying to work on getting my "generic" gambeson pattern I made out to the people for use, but it's a difficult task, lol. Thanks for your comment and I hope this helps!

I just dyed some computer paper with coffee and tea, then glued it into a scrap piece of leather I had one by one to make a little book. I did the drawings with pencil and charcoal.

A duct tape pattern on your chest will be the easiest way to make a pattern! Draw on your details, cut yourself out, and transfer it to your material. Add seam allowance if you're going to sew anywhere along the edges, otherwise it's just a guess and check game.
