    What I found interesting about watching this is, when my (now adopted) son was my foster child, he called me by my actual name. After he was adopted he immediately started calling me "Dad", with pride. And to be honest, for me it was a little awkward initually. I suppose because in a day I went from never having been called "Dad" my whole life to suddenly hearing someone yell "Dad" more than I get to hear my own actual name lol. At some point I not only got use to him calling me "dad" but I looked forward to hearing it. I got that same old feeling of joy when Anthony left and said "love you dad". Memories I suppose...

      We are all human, not even parents are perfect. The best thing for children like this is to be able to come down to their level and not to state you are above them. What children like this need is for you to understand they are struggling too, *not just you.* and not just “whose struggling the most” because they don’t really care about that, they care about you understanding that their struggles should be worth the same as yours.

    New to your channel. It is nice of you to have offered your home two these boys and adopt them too. I know that it is a lot of sacrifice on your part, but it will be all rewarding one day. These boys will appreciate it and take care of you in return when you'll be older Peter. You guys can make it a rule to eat out once a week. It is a special thing the boys will always remember . But try to make it a more positive experience Peter. Do not complain about the cost in front of the boys , so, they do not feel bad about having to ask you for food. I am a single mother of three daughters, in their 20's now. and I always used to say: We do not spend money on cigarettes or alchohol weekly like other people did, so, we could treat ourselves once a week to eat out. Two young , growing boys eat a lot and have a fast metabolism. So, not surprised a all. No sacrifice is too much for them. Later on in life ,they will remember these nice events and help you back in return. They will bever forget that you offered them a home. And I loved how you got a dog , Simba, for Anthony; It is a huge emotional support for a foster child to cope with all his earlier childhood experiences and trauma from it. It helps him heal. Pets are like antidepressants for people. I like how you also discuss things with the boys and let them have choices and opinions. I did the same with my girls. And it was a great support for their confidence later in life. And Peter I was not a real estate afent like you,... we started on a very modest income, supplemented by child tax benefits until years later when I got a better job and income. To this day, the girls are very loving and helpful and supportive to me in every way, although they have now moved out of the house.. So, do your best for those boys cause you only have a few more years with them until they move on their own feet. You'll not regret it. God bless you and reward you.

    This inspires me to be a better person and Dad. Sometimes as fathers we are modeled not to show affection to our boys, but truly that isnt true. Boys need to know, feel and see love and protection also. If we model it to them, they will model it to their families when they grow up.
    Oh Yes Anthony is def a 100% daddy's boy, he is so happy to be apart of a family.

    Single dad with teens can't be that easy but I bet so much fun and so worthy too (lot more than just living alone), you can be such an important role model and chance their lives. I think it's very important for teens boys specially to grow to good, healthy men to have a dad who i present, unfortunately too many have dads who are not really present. So makes me happy to see a man who wants to be a dad (not saying the other dads don't want to, maybe they just don't know how because their dads where not present).
    I'm single and I really wish I can foster or adopt too.

      @kel4me520 3 роки тому +2

      I seem to be alone feeling this way....but to me it is way more expensive eating from home. Eating good healthy meals for me is far from less expensive. It would cost me 30$ just to get all the ingredients (meat alone will be $12.00 minimum. ) fast food is just gross to me, and it has increased at insane levels making it very pricey. Sometimes due to having 3 kids it is just easier some nights to grab fast food. To me it's based on time, being a single mom. I always would choose a home cooked meal first. I just do not find home cooking that much cheaper now days. Yes certain meals can be eaten more than once, and what you cook matters. I've lost 90lbs during quarantine and did it cooking right. It sure was far from cheaper though....just my own experience that's all. I live in Seattle, many things can alter what's more feasible I think.

We certainly need more men like you stepping up and opening their homes to these precious children. As the mother of 3 young men, my youngest being 18, I will soon be an empty nester and am thinking I may open my home to pregnant teens/young mothers. Something along that line. The Lord knows the desires of my heart and he will be my guide.
