      @lola9343 Such a shame the other guys. Especially his cousin. They never would've had a career without him. Al is actually the most talented who isn't a Wilson. Better than the thieving cousin. He plays really well. And is so kind to fans.👍🎸☮️

      All 5 were talented. Mike had the best baritone & bass vocal range of the bunch, and wrote some great songs and lyrics. If he wasn’t such a jackass he’d be my second favorite behind Brian.

    • @mgebi1
      @mgebi1 14 днів тому +1

      @eliotguerin192 They were all talented, but Brian defines the beach boys. And having read so much about them. Mike always looks like a jerk. Some changes were needed. But I don't believe he wrote as much as he claims. But the worst is him taking the bands name away from Brian! Even if intervention was needed way back. The rights to that beach boys name should belong to Brian. Mike wats decades to claim writng credits. Ok. But the name is Brians. There is no beach boys without Brian. Beatles dont make a competitive record to pet sounds. Brian created while the band was on the road. But undeniable Mike's voice was critical to many songs. He really cant sing now. Anyway my feelings about it. ☮️🇺🇲✌️📻🤟

      @Slomofogo Irvin Berlin is still held in high regard by songwriters who have studied the art. Stephen Foster, on the other hand, was not known for writing love songs, unless you count "Oh! Susanna" as a love song. He was actually known for writing some pretty racially charged songs like "Old Black Joe" and "Camptown Races", which Mel Brooks parodied in "Blazing Saddles" as being racist - and rightly so. I contend that, just as the music of Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, and others are still studied by serious music students, as well as the music of contemporary artists like the Beatles, the music of the Beach Boys and The Beatles will still be studied by music students 100 years from now. It's only the masses, who wouldn't know good music if it bit them in the ass, that forget - if they ever even knew.

      Truth! Unflinchingly an unapologetic perfectionist. Seems that musicians need the Field General with the Vision, or maybe, for the Visionary to also be a Field General, aka, Tom Schultz, Boston, to push them to play exactly what he / she is hearing in their head and accept nothing less. Just in my 53 years of life, it's easy to see that this approach, while it may hurt some feelings at the time, is easily the best way as the product is almost always superior.

      He never had the voice Carl did, nobody did lol, and he knew it, but he was excellent on leads in the early days. Once Carl hit 20 years old he was ready for more spotlight, he was literally a teenager until ‘66. That’s right, he was 20 when he sang God only Knows and Good Vibrations. Insane. Amazing talents all around, and Brian was indeed the most important songwriter and arranger.

I would listen to my older brother's Beach Boys albums and play each song over and over, each time picking out a new harmony part. Listening to (and singing to) those songs served me well in my many singing groups over the years, most notably barbershop singing, which, as one of our members has always said, is the most fun you'll ever have with your clothes on 🙂

    Being that I have made my living most of my life as a musician, I was a "HUGE" Beach boy Fan. Every time I hear or heard their Harmony's I get/got chills. It's like Brian said, but I'll use another word, "Elation". The chills wash over my body, and drive that "Elation" right through the very core of my existence. Unreal harmony.

    Makes me happy. There is something (to me) so special about harmony, tight harmony, even loose harmony. I love duets, I love the sounds of voices together. For the person who doubted that Brian Wilson is a genius, I can only say that it is well known that genius and mental health issues are often hand-in-glove. But I only know what I like to hear. There are music college professors right here on YT speaking about Brian's genius with music. And lots of people who you know, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, too many to mention, who feel that yes, Brian is a musical genius. Point is, if the music moves you, he's done what he's set out to do. But he didn't do it alone and he is the first one to say that. His book (just finished it this morning) shows me how innocent his mind truly is, he eats, lives, breathes music...and love....and fear. Al Jardine also still sounds great, his son Matt is excellent, and the fellow on the keyboards...well, he is something else again. All of the musicians here are just excellent. In the book, which jumps around so much from different years past so as to be immensely confusing, is overlaid with the ever-present missing of his siblings. I miss mine, too, so I can relate. I hope he and his cousin Mike Love can work things out a little better before one of them is gone. BTW, if you like to walk and "Good Vibrations" plays through your headset...don't be surprised if you find yourself dancing. :)
