I dreamed up this build two weeks ago and I’m about to start it. Hopped on YT to make sure I’m not missing anything about keeping the drill square. Your video took the jig to perfection from what I saw elsewhere. Thank you.
Thanks to your inspiring video I think I need to make a full wall pegboard somewhere else in my house.
Yay! Good luck!
Heck yeah! I LOVE this. Literally obsessed
Thank you so much!
Love this!!!
OBSESSED WITH THISS!!! Totally doing it in my loft 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

This is so bomb. This would be perfect for my all my gear.
Yay! I am pumped you liked it.
Great idea,I'm always changing stuff around on shelves and am always gutted when I see something but know I won't have room for it this solves those problems, defiantly want to give it a go on a smaller scale, love from the uk 🇬🇧 x

Thank you!
I love how this turned out! Home Depot is my jam! You are so creative, thanks for sharing! ❤
Thank you so much! I practically live in Home Depot.
In love with your video ✌❤😘
I have this kind of idea, quite a while, not just for home office, but for living room, around tv or kitchen shelfs, but with 'real' wood 👍
Some day . . In my on house 😊
Love your channel 😘
I love that! Thank you for taking the time to show support to my channel xx.
I would strongly suggest that people secure the shelves to the pegs somehow. There are various ways to do this.
When drilling the holes, it's highly likely that the ply will blowout if you use the method in this video. It's best to sandwich the ply between two scrap pieces when you drill each hole. A top tip is to mark and cut a row of holes into two scrap strips, then clamp them onto your board to use as guides and help prevent blowout.
A clear stain is a great idea as it will help preserve the wood as the moisture and temperature levels change in your space.
Mounting the boards to the wall is more effective if you use French cleats. It's stronger, easier, secure and you won't have visible drill heads to cover up.
Thank you for this feedback!
Thank you for this, trying to find something for my office/craft room, after watching this one and the other, I subscribed and clicked the bell.
Thank you for following along!
Just did mine. I love it. Just don't do what i did and screw the 2x4s in the wall just to realize that at that position it covers 2 or 3 rows of peg holes. Other than that, this project was a ton of fun. On to the next one. Thanks for your help Rachel.
Thank you for the love! I would also alternate the holes.
Awesome 👌🏻😜🖐🏻💖
Thank you!
Awesome
Thank you so much!
I am actually doing this tonight in my family room with 3 - 4 x 8, BUT I didn't see in the video what SIZE the peg openings are. I am guessing the wall was painted first? I painted mine flat black. Thanks..let me know soon so I can start. Love this so excited
Subbed!! inspiring
Thank you for the support Chelsea!
Looks great! I noticed that when you tested the dowel in the holes they weren't a particularly tight fit. Did this not mean that the shelves slope slightly downwards? Cheers
Im trying to make this right now, dowels don't fit tight at all. I ordered dowel rods 1-3/8 to see if this would fit better. The drill bit is 1-3/8 and the suggested rod sizes are 1-1/4.
If you make top and bottom of ply wood in slow angle to wall .....egiptians use 2 degre angle on piramids for that reason you have sense that they never falling down whey you make pictures ...
Try putting a layer of paint/varnish inside the holes to tighten up the fit.
On the channel, I want to share how I create various things from wood, metal, construction experience and many other things made with my own hands.
I have no special education, no production experience, there is only a desire and desire to improve skills.
I hope my videos will motivate the viewer.
Hello Rachel,
this is wonderful and thanks for uploading this. Since the wall is almost 2 years old now I'm curious to know how well it aged. I'm planning to make a Pegboard Wall myself but I'm not sure wether or not I should treat the plywood with oil to protect it. Especially since there'd be plants I'm afraid that it'd get dirty from possible soil/waterspills. I would love to hear your experience on this after extended use. Of course other viewers may reply too and share some tips in hindsight.
It look just as it did when I installed! It's held up incredibly!
Thanks for the guide!! I‘m planing to make a book shelf using this system. Do you think such a shelf can hold a row of upright standing books? I‘m mostly concerned about the fit of the pegs
Yes! Cut the pegs to be a bit longer and make your shelf a little bit more wide to match - that will solve your problem!
Such a cute idea! But did you just cover up the outlet at the bottom of the wall?
Loveeee it!
Thank you!
You'd think after all this effort for a video and blog post on Home Depot, she'd mention what thickness plywood and diameter of dowels. :/
how can you make sure that all the wholes are lined up (perpendicular)? I could never seem be able to get it perfectly straight
Make sure to mark where the 2x4s will be on the back. Would suck to drill holes only to discover you cant use them
Wow 😍 Definitely thinking to make one. also can we attach two legs & wheels below the board, so that it becomes movable? ☺️
You'd have to build a proper base.
So I bought a 1 inch drill bit and 1 inch dowels and the dowels are somewhat loose in the holes. They don't fit snugly. My shelf tilts forward a bit and I'm afraid things will fall off the shelves. Any Suggestions?
niceee
Thank you!
I was just curious how you handled the outlet on the wall since I couldn't see it in the finished product. I plan on doing my entire headboard wall in my bedroom like this and have two outlets that I need to figure out. Did you cut out a rectangle to keep it accessible, or did you put in a extension plug and cover it up?
I cut a hole with my multi tool for access!
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz I was thinking the same thing..Thanks
Which plywood is this exactly can you tell?
Any advice on cutting out space for sockets? i want to build this for my office but I have a plug in the wall.
Multi tool!
How thick is the board? Do you know how much weight each board can withstand??
3/4 thick, weight depends on how deep you make the space behind the board and the length/amount of holes.
How did you get your dowels to go in so easily? I'm hammering mine in and still having trouble
Sand down the holes in the peg board a little bit or the ends of the dowels you're inserting. That can help!
I want to make something similar but I cannot drill on the wall cuz my landlord doesn't allow it so I'm trying to do something the same but different any suggestions??
What kind of wood thickness was this?
The pegboard? I cannot remember but I did link it in the Home Depot blog post about it.
You're obsessed with the wall and I'm obsessed with Paul making sure you're safe and not going to fall off the ladder. CUTEST FREAKIN' COUPLE ON UA-cam!
I could honestly bite both of you. Not hard, just so you know I adore you both.
#girlswithtools
He is the best xx.
Can you plz tell how to avoid termites if you do such type of work.plz
Seal your wood! All around.
If drilling right through why use a forstner bit?
This was in the beginning of my woodworker journey - def sub it for what works for you and your level of woodworking!
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz ok. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
Hello! I couldn't find this info, so: how thick is your board? How thick it SHOULD be to fit those shelves, to handle its own weight + the things that are gonna be on it? I have a 0,5 mm board & i kinda see already that it's not good if I want to use it properly? You know, to place my laptop (and then the gaming monitor) there. And how are those things that handle the shelves are called? I don't even know how to search for them in my native language & where, I've never seen these at my local stores.
I would appreciate some help a lot. Thanks.
Everything is linked in the blog post (like I mention) in the description down below.
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz Nope. plywood thickness, dowel diameter, hole diameter not mentioned.
Should have the items used in the video linked in the description. What drill bit is that? CC says you said horse nurse drill bit.
Forstner bits, for those of you from the future.
Lol
You go girl. Quality work. I do remodel work for a living and was inspired. Can I ask if you get some payment from home depot for doing it this way? How does that work? I'd consider doing home videos like this, too.
Not for this one! I reached out to them for cost of materials and they agreed to partner up!
Thickness of the plywood?
3/4
What is the size and dowel u used?
It is all linked in the blog post in the description xx.
Living to DIY with Rachel Metz didn't see it, but I created it anyway, thx
@@A.M.Independent.Consultant I couldn't see it either. What size you use and how did it turn out??
@@livingmydreams1148 sorry can't say....the medium size. I know that doesn't help. But whatever hole u place in the wood, use that size dowel
Does anyone know the diameter of the dowel and drill bit?
Metric or stupid measurements?
I believe 1" I wanted to do the largest I could.
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz thank you.
2.5 cm looks really nice. I think I can save a little money going thinner
What thinkness of board. It looks 6.35mm?
can I put my application in to be your apprentice please lol...
I would love that!
how much weight can you put on these shelves?
I have about five medium size plants on my longer shelf and it is totally fine. I say support it more with more pegs if you wanted a lot of weight.
Just make a template and speed up the process.
so you don't climb on it
Nope.
holy sht thats not peg board thats peg motherboard
It must be so sad living in a country that still uses imperial measurements. 5 3/4 inch 🤣
It's 15 cm
