- Every day that Dr. Smith is with the Robinson family, he finds some way to put them in danger, deliberately or accidentally. They've had enough, and Smith is banished from the Jupiter 2. He camps in a spot where he finds plants that can duplicate anything. Even people. And they eat deutronium, the radioactive metal that the crew is trying to gather for fuel to get off this planet.
Dr Zachary Smith brings new meaning to the word coward .
Notice Debbie is a stuffed animal when Penny is inside the beam… They must not have wanted the animal to be near those explosions, or it might go berserk and rip off Penny’s face😂😂😂
Love "the Plant Judy! she's evil!!!!"!!
and when they ask can they have the real judy back and she say and evil "no."
Marta must of loved it too instead of standing around and googling Don🤷🏼♂️🤓😎✌🏼🛸
Oogling
Love the "sound of the plants"!!
Definitely. There were some wonderful sound effects (and sound editing) for this episode ! ♥️❤️👍🏽
I think one of the things that i like about this show, Lost in Space, is the music that accompanies different aspects of the shows themes. The sweet, sensitive scenes, and then the more exciting action scenes. Obviously, Johnny Williams is a musical genius
I only vaguely recall this one, but I agree it was the best Judy episode in the series. This would have been a genuinely interesting idea to have developed further. Clearly recalling the original "Little Shop of Horrors" (1960) and "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956) one of the better story ideas.
19:32 Ho ho ho, he was venal and almost got one of the Robinsons killed. What a card! :D
that is the nastiest NO, ever, when she says they arent giving Judy back.
13:07 It's like the plants snatched Judy's body, and they may be planning some kind of invasion. I think there is an episode title in there somewhere. :D
What happened to fake.Judy? Did they keep her around?.
If Dr Smith let John and Don to drown, who would fly the ship?
He never seemed to think of that.
There were only a few good shows after this one, notably The Keeper and Follow the Leader. After this, we started getting Space Hammy Pirates, Space Sleeping Beauty Princesses, Space Hillbillies, (which reused the same monster plants just weeks later), Space Crooked Traders, etc….
You forgot War of the Robots. That was also a good episode from Season 1.
Marta played an excellent role. My question, what did they do with the plant version of Judy after this?
They potted then planeted her in their hydroponic garden. WHAAAAOOOOH!!!!!!
ha .ha. @@willmack5909
Probably froze her?
Dr Smith was portrayed beautifully by the wonderful actor who shall remain nameless. I did find the giant plants quite scary and sinister, and I feel it was not appropriate for younger viewers. Great TV series but for mature audiences only.
Wonder if they would have left Smith behind..John almost did on The Space Destructors.Guess they could have put him in the Freezing Tube but they never revisted this option after Island in the Sky
I would have left him in the freezing tube until the show was cancelled!!!
101 ways to kill Smith....#23....Don puts Smith in the tube and sets it to “11”! Opens the door, Smith falls into a perfect face plant and shatters into thousands of pieces, ala Terminator 2!!! But doesn’t melt and reassemble like in that movie!
The Robot sweeps him up into a dustpan while singing “Amazing Grace”!
If Smith ever did get back to Earth he would be court martialed and probably spend the rest of his life in prison. He would also be tried if they made it to Alpha Centauri and there was a US space colony already there
Fun Fact: In the restored DVD prints, this was the first "Oops, Lost In Space will be back Two Weeks from Tonight" That pre-emption was the 2nd National Geographic Special (In Color) "Jane Goodall and the Wild Chimpanzees"
If I remember correctly--another one of the "Oops--2 Weeks From Tonight" pre-emptions was for the 1965 premier of A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Human "Judy" pretty girl. "plant Judy" GORGEOUS Woman. Saw Marta in all new light from then on. Who knew making Doc Smith uncomfortable would make such a difference?. Am working on a fanfic for the immediate follow up for this episode an it IS a dark one involving John and Don in murder!
Smith MUST have dosed the Rs with something POWERFUL to keep them all from throwing him out the airlock or leaving him behind.
The most powerful force in the universe: a contract!
10:27 Yes, let's walk right into the middle of the enormous plant. That couldn't possibly be dangerous. She obviously went to the same school of scientific investigation at the scientists on the Prometheus. :D EDIT: Okay, mesmerism. Fair enough. :D
Xerox machine plant.
The doomsday machine on Star Trek was made of Neutronium.
I believe the plants gave off a pollen that kind of hypnotized her into going in, (never explained on the show, just like how does a vine grab you and pull you into quicksand)???
What would have happen if John Robinson not only agreed to have Major West beat the crap out of Dr Smith, but took off from the planet without Smith?😂😂😂😂😂
Dr. Smith - great example of antisocial personality disorder!
And during the night, alien landscapers came in to remove the monster plants.
Up here Quick,Hurry Up! Like they were going anywhere, as if!
The ironic thing is that Smith DID save them by going back to the Jupiter and having Will bring them the rope. He'd have been useless trying to pull them out - he'd just have been caught in the sand with those two. He also is the only one who knows where Judy is later. Things are never perfectly clearcut with Smith, he completely messes up constantly but when it comes down to it, he does sometimes (inadvertently, perhaps) provide some solutions.
Like you said, every time Judy gets an acting role she's a Judy imposter.
It got a little better in season 3, but not much.
@@dwashbur The episode where they landed on 1960s earth was where she got to act a bit.
@@cb-gz1vlActually, that was 1940s Earth... or were you referring to "The Promise Planet?"
"Come here." Oh YES Mistress!
Kurt Snyder What would Avengers' star Diana Rigg have designed for Judy as she designed the costume she (mostly) wore for the Hellfire Club ep of her own show? Black? check, Body hugging form fitting, natch, skin exposing, of course.
Marta Kristen, Norway's HOTTEST export!
@@kurtsnyder4752 Is she not from Finland, originally?
@@kurtsnyder4752Oh, more than that. She'd get more dialogue, and more of a chance to kick butt on screen.
Love!!!! Mean Judy!!!
When Will helps John and Don out of the quicksand pit, they don't have any dirt on their clothes at all.
It's not so bad being invited to dinner unless you are on the menu, then things get a little out of hand!
What you are saying at 18:25 . Of COURSE , if they get to where they were supposed to go, they wouldn't be lost and no more Lost In Space. New series Found In Space.
I like it!
@@dwashbur To paraphrase Sally Field, you like it, you really Like it? Now Elvis P; Thank you, thank you very much.
When Dr Smith made no effort to prevent John and Don from drowning in quicksand, who did Smith think would fly the ship? The Robot? Maureen? Will? Judy? Penny?
A ship is no good without gas and oil!!!😨😫😥😖☺️😭🤗😣😰
I'm getting ready....
Very little of what Smith does makes much sense... This though is either terrible writing, or, just an example of Smith's rampant insanity. I could understand him not caring if the Prof died in that sand pit, but, without the Major his chances of getting back to Earth become practically zilch! Had West died in that pit, whom was to fly the spaceship?
Dr Smith was brilliant and could easily pilot any spacecraft and manipulate any possible space warps or cosmic forces that he may encounter on his trek back to earth .
🤓👍
