It will be ok unless you endo or loop out bad, and if you do either of those, you are probably not going to care about the windshield at that moment. Stay safe!
I endo-ed on mine that I had on my DRZ400 for 20K miles many of them hard dirt miles. The windshield was fine, all the other crashes I did between the direct endo on it didn't hurt it either. Flexible is good. I'm putting one on my 450L today.
I'm not sure I like the idea of wing nuts on the outside of the windshield. Besides, I don't take it on and off all that often and it looks fine. But thanks for the idea!
I've thought about that. Maybe a track of some kind it slides into. But then you have to store it, and it's big. I think I'll just leave it on there and try to bounce it off and if it stays then it was meant to be.
I did and mounted a Bajaworx screen to it. You can see it the "Light Adventure Bike" video. I'll do a more comprehensive video as soon as I get a chance.
I looked at it, but then kind of wanted a clear windshield so... I do like how the Adventure Spec attaches though. Maybe I could merge the two and make a new BajaSpec or Adventure Worx windscreen?
OK Mark. I just ordered the Adventure Spec because I love the way it mounts to the forks. I am going to Frankenstein the two together somehow. Thank you for the suggestion!
That's cool. I think I want to sell my ktm690 to get a 450l. Then I have to start all over with all the additions to make the bike useable. I really enjoy my 690, everything but the tight trails. Love watching you build your bike. And you do a great job explaining and filming too.
Great video, John. I’m really considering this for my 450L. I think the beauty of this bike is the capability of being more dirt bike or more lightweight adventure bike. I lean towards the later. Was highway riding noticeably more comfortable?
That's the direction I'm leaning as well. The fairing did make a noticeable difference at highway speeds. Maybe not night and day, but you knew it was there.
Story for you... my buddy went on a 500 mile ADV ride this summer. He has a 2019 KTM 350FE with an ECM upgrade. His friend has a CRF250L. And the other 3 riders had big "adventure bikes". 4-500lbs, crash bars, etc. As soon as they went off road at all, it was a nightmare for the "adventure bike" riders. They were constantly stuck, crashing, etc. My buddy spent half his time lifting and dragging a bike through stuff that it had no business going. And the "Adventure Bike" owners were constantly complaining about how much damage they were doing to their precious bikes. No fun at all for my buddy.
Ya, that sounds like a workout, not a play date. Tell your Buddy to announce that he is going to ride scout, and will wait for everyone at the intersections - with a beer or two.
@@JohnTYoung He said "Never again will I ride with big Adventure Bikes". Let's be honest... most of those bikes can't do anything more than a gravel road. My definition of an adventure bike is one that I can pick up myself 10x if it falls over. If you go on real adventure rides, you'll fall over, especially if it is a big bike. If you can't pick it up, it doesn't belong on the trail.
“I’ve got everything I think I want” OMG if the previous you could see you now! 🤣
I know. I just keep adding stuff.
I have the AT and just bought the 450RL and wanting a wind screen for it lol
There you go

If it can't bend, it'll break.
@@JohnTYoung I was the same as you at first about it. It was a great decision. I'm not too concerned about looks myself. I like your videos man!
Love your vids - thanks so much
No. Thank YOU.
Have you considered using wingnuts to mount it? would be easy enough to take on/off
I'm not sure I like the idea of wing nuts on the outside of the windshield. Besides, I don't take it on and off all that often and it looks fine. But thanks for the idea!
Any way to do a simple mod on how it mounts so you could quickly take it off and stow after a highway ride before heading off road?
I've thought about that. Maybe a track of some kind it slides into. But then you have to store it, and it's big. I think I'll just leave it on there and try to bounce it off and if it stays then it was meant to be.
I just ordered mine today from crf only.
Nice!
Did you received the Adventure Spec fairing and how did merging with Bajaworx windshield went? Thank you!

@@JohnTYoung Thanks, looking forward to that video.
Really like the build. Should checkout the adventure spec windscreen with a mount for a gps.

I mounted one of there wind screens with an Adventure Spec GPS tower on my 450L. I really like it.

I feel like it could have been made a touch wider and taller, but as far as I’ve been able to find, it’s the only clear windscreen made for the 450L.
@@jasonbarton7189 I haven't seen another either.
My dream back yard
I know, right. Now if they would let me make the jumps a little bigger....

First like and comment, Woot. great video.
How's the wind noise?
I can't hear it over the Yosh pipe. But seriously, I've never really noticed it.
Great video!
Yank on it, it won't tear off.
You're probably right...but....😬
Who cares what it looks like. If it takes the buffeting away its gtg
It does do that.
I just put an inpreda windshield on my 250l and was very surprised at how much it helped
@@shelbywilson114 I just switched from the 450L to the KTM EXC Bajaworxs windscreen. Just a little bigger, but I like it.
