ALERT - DON’T BUY THIS UNIT. I bought two of these - both USB charging points broke off the circuit board the first time we tried to charge them. Rendering them useless.
Hi! Do you mean that the TPMS damaged something on the bike? I've just bought, and got one of those to install on my NC750X ... but I will not if they are useless ?
Hasse Honda750 - can’t damage the bike. Both units we bought failed when we tried to plug in the charging cable to charge the display unit. Could just be bad luck. We bought the cheapest unit we could find. Lesson learned.
Aha, ok. Bad luck and bad units then :(. I've bought exactly the same as you have. I've charged it once and it seems ok. Will see if my unit breaks to. But then I know that they didn't mess anything up on your bikes. Thank you for your answer! I hope you soon will be able to go out riding again.
Mine failed after 200 km, completely dead. Chinese are getting good at making stuff which looks good, but as unreliable as ever. Does anyone know of a reliable TPMS?
Thanks for the idea. I too have a problem with space on the Bar, So I am impressed with where you located it. I do not have a Welder, but the same can be achieved with a length of threaded bar, washer and lock nut to replace the original bolt, leaving a short length for mounting the unit.👍
I use similar ones on both my bikes ... work great, takes any hassle/worry out of tire pressures. I removed those locking nuts on the sensors. Like you, I'm not really anywhere that someone would steal them, and the locking nuts might prevent me from being able to fill the tires on the road, if I can't find a tool to loosen them.
Hi Adrian I had just been looking at the very same unit on Amazon so thanks for the video! Mine is on order and will be fitted when it arrives along with other stuff already delivered in preparation for my Norway trip in June/July!
I had same one on my CB500X for more than one year and it was acurate and long life sensor's battery. But pls pay attention on the rubber cover on usb port ,it's fragile and easy to break. Once you lost it , the monitor will not be rain proof.
Good review, thanks. Fleabay here I come having not spent ("invested") enough money on extras for my NC (if I ignore the shad seat, mudguard extender, chain oiler, racks, top box, panniers, screen extender, lower pegs, rad guard etc etc etc). To think that the only things I was intending to buy were hand & engine guards and these are the things I have not bought...
IDK about you but I'd have just used velcro. Welding? Wtf dude. Plus, my method you just put the unit in your pocket when you leave the bike or lock it in a glove box or hard case. They're all made in China. You can get one on eBay for $28 that charges magnetically on the bike. No USB port to go bad or leak water. And it also has a clock.
I have an exactly same type of TPMS as watched on video. But I have an issue after I replaced the batteries in the sensors. Sensors don't communicate with the main unit. Could somebody help me, what to do?
Hi Adrian, very infomative video as usual, I enjoy all your videos, could you please send me a link of where to purchase this unit, all the ones I looked at are in bar, but I prefer psi, thanks a lot for your time
Freeway DS - you will probably find the ones you are looking at also can display in psi. This is the one I bought. www.ebay.com.au/itm/Motorcycle-Wireless-TPMS-Tire-Pressure-Monitor-External-Pressure-w-2x-Sensors-/392365507055
I bought a similar unit last year. I gather the pressure isn’t updated if the wheel doesn’t move. However, the unit just displays the last known reading with no indication the data is stale. So I am never sure if the unit has read the sensors recently. Could be days old for all I know looking at the display. Does your unit also present stale data?
I have a similar unit to you. The battery in the display lasts for about 1 month but that will depend on how often you turn it on. The wheel sensors last for over 12 months and are easily changed with the tool provided. I was out on a ride in a state forest one Sunday on my KLR650 and noticed that the front tyre was starting to show reducing pressure. I decided to turn around and head back to civilisation. I had to stop 3 times and pump it up with my compressor but it was a slow leak and the 90 minutes to get home wasn't too much of a problem. A quick patch (and a beer in the comfort of my garage) and good to go again. Without the TPM I would have kept going further from home , possibly destroying the tube before I noticed the problem and having to get a replacement tube late on a Sunday, miles from home. Wouldn't the wife have loved that phone call! I still check my pressures as normal (before each ride) and I have kept the lock nuts on. A 12mm spanner fits so I bought a $1 spanner from Bunnings, cut it in half and keep it with my gauge. By the way - the gauge that I trust reads 31psi and the TPM reads 32psi. I installed a similar system on the wife's car and it gives great piece of mind to be able to ensure that she is safe with tyre pressures. For me the best part is being able to check the pressure at a glance and know what is happening as you can see when your tyres have warmed up too. Highly recommend to everyone.
CaptainCranky - thanks. The sensor batteries reportedly last 12 months. The display is rechargeable so don’t care how long it lasts but should be pretty long as you can turn it off when not riding.
Easy system, however I see 3 issues. 1 Easy to steel or sabotage. 2 A hassel to have to charge. 3 Inconveniance to have to use tools when filling upp with air in tires.
bravojonas - 1. yes easy to steal. But not steel. 2,3. Not a hassle to “charge”. Just leave off the lock nut (which I have subsequently done) and it’s no different to removing a conventional cap.
Hello. I got a similar unit (let's face, they're all the same inside) and while pairing worked well and the readings are correct, the rear sensor gives me low pressure warning although it's at 42 PSI while the low is set to 38 and the high to 46 (38-42-46). The front sensor (34-36-40) is working fine. When I swap the sensors, the alarm stops although the rear sensor SHOULD set the alarm as it measures 36 on the front wheel. I tried to reset the unit but the method described in the manual (when on the dF screen, hold Select button) doesn't work. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
I bought something similar but 12v not usb several years ago but there was no way of charging or replacing the batteries on the wheel sensors. Worked brilliantly then the battery went in the front wheel sensor after 3 months then the rear wheel went after 6 months.
Left button when you press it will show either bar or psi when you see that press on Right button than you'll be able to make changes. Hope it's helpful.

Hey!.. Nice unit for a tyre pressure monitor.. My current bike is a cbx 250 & I'm forever trying to get the correct pressure. Its always either too high or too low.. Too bad, now my front tyre is showing xtra wear in the middle.
Ronald Boe - welding is fun and hobby tig welding is easy to learn. But I’ve found once you own a tool you find many uses for it you didn’t think of before owning the tool 😃
You set a 21 psi warning for the back? Why so low? I would have thought to go with maybe 36 psi, which would indicate an issue, if I was still checking my pressure every few weeks or so.
crunchers9 - I will be looking at the actual pressures from time to time while riding so believe I will see a pressure drop. Can’t hear the beeping when doing 100km/hr anyway.
Does the unit goes to sleep or you have to turn it on and off ? How about the accuracy ? Is the display well visible during the day ? Like always, I love your technical videos. Thanks for finding more stuff for me to add on.
Claude Boulet - have to turn it off at the end of the ride if you want to conserve battery. Accuracy. Mine reads 2psi less than the gauge I have been using. Display is easily visible in daylight. I’d probably turn it off at night.
