Fractal has followed up with be about the crack in the top wood panel and assured me that it is a defect. Statement: "Just to make sure your viewers/readers know, a cracked wood panel is not the intended experience, and we will ship a replacement panel out with no questions asked." -Adam
GN's had a crack in the same place. It's probable going to happen on most of them, at some point. Restrict wood movement by screwing it into metal and the tension will release somehow. They probably should have built it the same way as the north where the slats aren't bridged, that exposes a weaker grain structure.
Something I don't see in many SFF chassis is the Kensington security slot or similar to enable use of wire locks. It's definitely a niche feature, but as I attend big LAN events such as Dreamhack, it's nice to have that as a security option. This case seems to have that option on the back. Ironically though, I feel like I'm still leaning towards the A4-H2O for the smaller form factor, but it's nice to see that there are more options on the market.
According to Fractal they are both walnut. Not sure if their sourced from the same location, but there will be variances in color and grain pattern even among boards cut from the same tree.
Top mounted cpu AIO's in the exhaust configuration combined with a high end or hot running gpu isn't ideal for cpu temps in my experience. I am coming from a very different configuration though , O11D, 5900x, 360aio, and 4090. I had a 9C increase in cpu temps when exhausting the aio out the top. Front mounted aio in the intake configuration returned cpu temps to what they had been and only increased the gpu temp by 2C.
I'm sorry, but if my sff case can only house 1 240/280 rad, it better be in the low teens for cubic feet, not the high teens. The nr200 of basically the same size can house 2 240/280s by default or 3 with some minor mods. It's mind-blowing how poorly space optimized this case is. The terra was a halfway decent attempt at a t1 but came up short and again now with the era 2. While they did fix the awful thermals issue it originally had, it is still a disappointment

You could put the top fans in an pull config. Then cables will not be James into the fans.

how would this case not be an oven. everything is so densely packed in it with minimal fans

Meh. Terra looks better and nr200 is more practical
Don't think it is fair to compare it to the NR200, that case is almost perfection.
