Bread pudding dates back centuries as most
people could not afford to waste food so a number of uses for stale bread were invented. Bread pudding is a bread-based dessert popular in many countries’ cuisines, made with stale bread and milk or cream, egg and sugar. The bread is soaked in a egg custard mixture and mixed with other ingredients and baked. Bread puddings have remained popular throughout the ages. Today bread puddings are not as common as they used to but many people still craved for it. You don’t know how good is it until you make it yourself and taste it.

Thank you for the recipe, I'm fairly certain this is the way my grandmother made it. I can't wait to give it a try.
My pleasure! Thank you for watching.
I’ve never used evaporated milk in bread and butter pudding before but I think it’s a great idea. Nutmeg is the more traditional spice to add where I come from. Thank you for the recipe.
Try using evaporated milk, you will love this bread pudding. You can add any spice you like but I like cinnamon.
It's nutmeg for me as well. :-)
I made it 4 weeks ago but I put a twist in it. I used minced fruits that we use in Caribbean Christmas cake and it was delicious. Everyone loved it and I am making it again right now. Thanks very much for this recipe.
You are welcome! Glad everyone loved it. Yes we love it too. So fluffy and yummy.
Thanks for sharing this recipe......I will try.....
You r welcome!
👍 Thanks for posting, very well done video.

@@1228cooking I made it yesterday and it turned out great 👍
I doubled the sultanas & cranberries.
Next time I will try approx. 1/2 cup of sweetened condensed milk as a substitute for sugar.
All the best to you, from down under 🦘
👏👏👏👍👍👍
Made this yesterday... my family love it. Thanks for the recipes 🤗
You are most welcome!
Don’t cut off the bread crusts: best part after softened by milk mix.
Thanks. Will remember to do that next time.
Making this right now..going to.make some English custard to go with it
Great! Goes nice with custard. Tell me how it goes.
@@1228cooking turned out great..I needed to cook it a little more as it wasn't completely done on the inside. Custard came out nice and silky..a Jamie Oliver recipe

I'm going to make this because it looks easy and yummy. May I ask what size pan you use. 8 by 8 or 9 by 9? Can I use a 8 by 8 glass pan?
My pan is 9 by 9.
My daughter will love it 😍😍😍
Sure she will because it is very nice.
@@1228cooking Yep! She definitely loved it!! I love the fluffiness!!
Thanks for sharing,👍🖐️
Delicious 😋🥰
Thank you and thanks for watching!
looks yummy. Will try it. I thought that custard had to be used. Also I read where you can use fruit buns ie hot cross buns. Is that OK?
No need custard for bread pudding but you can served with custard. Yes u can add fruits into hot cross buns.
Simple & nice
Yes, Thank you!
Eagerly waiting to try this recipe but evaporate milk isn't available at my place. So can I use 3 cups of full fat milk instead of using evaporate milk? Is this going to work? Reply would be highly appreciated
You can use 3cups -3.5cups milk to replace the evaporated milk. One can of evaporated milk is 390 ml. Good luck! Please let me know how it goes.
@@1228cooking I'll give it a try during coming weekend. Definitely I'll share feedback
Thank you so much for prompt reply
yummy... thanks for sharing
You are welcome!
I am definitely making this. Thank you.
Just go ahead, easy to follow and yummy.
What size pan is that? Great video! Thanks!
9x9 inch pan
Can i add some choco chunk on top?
Sure...why not. Add during the last 15 mins.
@@1228cooking thank u! And Is there a substitute for evaporated milk? Can i use condensed milk or just fresh milk?
Can add fresh milk
Just made this, it was great :D
So happy that you succeeded. Thanks for the feedback.
How much milk should I use if I am substituting for evaporated milk? And should it be whole milk?
You can use 890ml milk (any low fat or whole milk as you like ) replacing the water as well.
Sir new friend here I just watch and prepare this today with Neelia Navarro
Nice to hear that, my new friend. How did it go ? Must be yummy!
A can of milk - is it half a litre or 1 litre
A can of evaporated milk is 390g
Looks easy. May i know one loaf how many pieces of bread
I don’t know I didn’t count, it’s the normal long loaf.
I can't wait to make this for my family! Thanks in advance ☺
You are welcome! Please let me know how it goes.
How many gms of butter on top
30g or as much as you like
Nice
Thanks!
Could u mention the time and temperature of oven u set at
Did you watch the video? it’s stated very clearly. Go back and watch.
Also in the description box
I dont cut the crusts off i like the bite and burnt. Bits lol
👍👍 Nice and yummy too. Glad you like it.
OMg.. OMg!
Just wondering most of you guys using 45 mins or 50 mins? To get the perfect texture.
Yes and you can cut for better presentation when cooled.
What can we use instead of eggs
Maybe you can add flour or cornflour
Or try grits
Can you use milk instead of evaporated milk?
Yes but evaporation milk is concentrated and thicker.
Can't I use condensed milk instead of evaporated milk ...?
If you add condensed milk don't add sugar
Hi - How much castor sugar do you use?
I did mention in the video and the full recipe in the description box of the video.
Harley Quinn 2019 show brought me here after she made this for joker
Great !
You forgot to add sugar in your description ingredients
Amended. Thank you and Thanks for watching ❤️❤️
hi, may I know will there be any difference between using whole meal bread and ordinary white bread? I tried using whole meal bread and it ends up produce unnecessary water under the bread so I failed.
Is it you used too much water? Yes can use whole meal bread. I make a few times and each time getting better. Or is it not enough time baking or maybe can bake longer because every oven not the same.
I baked 185°C for 45mins as per suggestion... came out slightly watery texture for me too when i tasted it, so i put it into the oven again (using bottom heat) at same temperature for like 10-15mins with supervision. My pudding became slightly rise-up & fluffier. Just sharing 😅
Why didn’t you use the crust???
Individual preference…..you can use crust. Thanks for watching .❤️
@@1228cooking I thought there was a special reason that’s all!
New friend here....
Great!
Curious about which ingredient and which step makes it fluffly? This recipe is not any different from every other recipe for bread pudding.
You can try if you are curious because many people have already made using my recipe with success.
I like bread pudding better without cinnamon. Cinnamon tends to overpower all the other flavors.
I just watched your bread pudding recipe, wow you cut the bread edges off & didn't even use them, now that is such a waste of good food.
It is not wasted, it is use to feed the free-range chickens in our country farm.
I for example will use the bread edges to fry it with brown sugar. It's delicious. Just a suggestion here👌
Great! Try with eggs , it’s very delicious too.
@@1228cooking What do you mean by saying (GREAT), no it's not great wasting yummy looking bread, infact it's not great wasting any food at all & i did use 3 eggs when i made my bread pudding, i didn't waste anything.
@@1228cooking I wasn't aware that you had any chickens, but to me it's still wasteful peoples food.
That is a bread and pudding not a bread budding. People always get them mixed up.
Recipe under description, needs sugar. Still ended up great.
👍👍👍
Just use custard powder and milk
Thank you!
Cups??

Don't cut off all the crust for aesthetics, for good looks for people. You are wasting a lot of good bread.

Best bread pudding I've made thank you so much for the recipe much appreciated ❤️❤️
That's not bread pudding.
Then what?
@@yalu99 it's a pudding made with bread and surplus of ingredients. Classic Bread pudding was an attempt to give extra life to unused loaves. Spice, sugar and dried fruit as well as rebaking and pouring custard over it fulfills that purpose. It's meant to be an exercise in thrift.
