The Cool Notes were a 80's pop group who had a string of chart hits in the UK between 1984 and 1986. The band, who formed in South London, consisted of seven members of both vocal and instrumental talent. They are best known for their UK number 11 hit, "Spend The Night". Enjoy......

Although this group didn’t have the successes of the likes of the SOS band, Loose ends and the like, the fact these talented women put out such a CLASSIC tune really does say so much about the total quality of r&b in the 80s, due to the sheer volume of artists consistently raising the bar. No wonder 80s r&b stands the test of time. Baseline, funk percussion, total groove...
Top clubs in the northern uk, manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham.... When people dressed well, expressed more unity and there was not a selfie stick in sight as we were just too busy having a good time!

I lived in Benfleet just slightly up a hill so I'd wire up my copper fm ariel in my loft so my ghetto blaster could pick up 2 or 3 pirate stations from London and Steve Walsh and Mike Allen etc, I'd be listening to this stuff all day while most others I knew just had to put up with Radio 1. Those days really shaped me and I wouldn't change a thing about my life then.👍😊
