This is the first channel I found when I started gardening and it has proved so beneficial over the years. You do such a great job in explaining all the ups & downs that go along with organic gardening. Thanks for all the tips you share Susan, it really makes things so much clearer😊✌🏼
Your garden even looks pretty in the snow! Just right around the corner it will be Spring again and I sue have Spring Fever!!! LOvE your channel Susan and appreciate all your videos! 🧡❤️💜💙💚
Great info as usual! Videos at the half hour mark are perfect for me thank you please! ☺️ it's the perfect length for a cup of coffee and getting ready in the morning. Thank you Susan!
It's nice that you are starting from the beginning for new gardeners and reminding us all to be better organized. I got seeds for cocozelle squash and Burpees Butter Bush Btr Nut squash you recommended and cannot wait to try them this year.
I start out the season so well with my garden journaling but then when the season gets busy and it gets put to the side. A goal every year it to do better.
Good morning Susan! Thank you for this video I really enjoyed all the great tips. Hopefully this year will be the year I stay organized! BTW, I use your pests in the garden book all the time!! Love it!
thank you for such great information. im excited, but nervous that it wont go well! last yr either birds, rabbits, deer, slugs and i think squirrels got most of my figs but am not sure. im putting cameras on them! this is not about saving money as ive sure spent tons...but about getting some good fresh stuff again, that isnt awful like what comes from the stores lately!
Love your videos! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been struggling over making cheat sheets/spreadsheets to help me manage my seed starting and planting. Being in zone 4b I have a short season as well and want to make best use of the time. Thanks again… Love your bug book! Cheers!
We are having extremely hot weather in Z5a WI and it has been like this all month. Accuweather predicts below zero at night starting February, but even that month looks warm My question is about winter sowing. I’m concerned the seeds will germinate too soon if in a sunny spot, or rot. What is your take on this situation? I enjoy your videos as there are not too many that are close to my zone. Thank you for all you do.😊
Hi there. The weather has been so odd or extreme in so many areas of the country. I wonder if you might want to move your containers to more of a shady area while the temperatures are up and then move them back to a sunny location when temperatures drop again. Or, if the seeds do germinate too early, do you have something like a coldframe or other protected area to move the containers to? I think with the changing weather patterns, we are all going to have to experiment. One other thought is that you could check the soil temperature in the containers from time to time. A lot of seeds won't germinate if it's too cold. I don't know if this is helpful, but hoping for the best!
Hi, Melanie. Thanks so much for subscribing! The greater Spokane area is in zones 5b/6a. It all depends upon the weather conditions where a person lives. In our case, we're in a microclimate so we get a bit colder and snowier here. I would say you are probably in zone 6a, and all of the sources I just consulted agree with that.
I love the idea of the chart but because it is in pdf, which is a protected document, I can't put my own seeds in the chart unless I write them in. would be nice to be able to use the chart and type things in. Thanks, Susan for your informative videos.
Hi again, Mary. I figured out how to make the forms work for you. Here are the steps: 1. Click on the seed-starting scheduler that you want. When it opens on your screen, click on the "download" arrow in the upper right of screen and choose the folder you where want it to go into. Click on "save." 2. Open Word on your PC, and do a "file - open." Navigate to your "downloads" folder and click on the file that you saved and choose "open." You'll get a message that says it's going to convert the PDF to an editable Word document, click "OK." 3. After a few moments, it will open the file in Word. At the very top of the document, click on the white button that says "enable editing." You'll get that same message but just click "OK." 4. Input your seed-starting information as desired. Do a "file - save as," and put it in the folder you want and give it a meaningful filename. That's it!
Thank you so much, Susan. I so appreciate you replying and going through the trouble to figure out how I could do this. It took me a bit but I was able to follow your instructions and can now put my seeds in via my computer!
Hi there. You are in hardiness zone 3, according to my research. So quite a bit colder than we are. But all of my gardening tips certainly apply. You have a Master Gardener program there, here's a link to their website: www.mgmanitoba.com/. They will have all sorts of relevant gardening information for you and it is a free service. They even have a Q&A section on their website: www.mgmanitoba.com/. I hope this helps.

Hmm, I'll look into that. My idea had been for folks to print it out and write in the information.
