I was so blessed to be there at Santa Anita that very day to watch this historic event. And I hit that 14-5 exacta There was a second historical event that happened after this. A DH in turf classic That was an amazing day, memorable for life if you were there
What about Richard Mandela winning half of the Breeders Cup races? (4) Including the most lucrative, the Turf and the Classic! I don't think that was a dead heat either, the Photo took so long, Johar was a Longshot, High Chaparral was a favorite. The horse between made it undeterminable, from the inside rail photo. But who knows? Maybe High Chaparral won. But it did cost me Alot of $ . My $3 double should have paid more than $500, it paid about $200, $20 to win should have paid $450, instead it paid like the equivalent of 9/2. I had a good day though, was going to bet $60 Win on Halfbridled ( I figured 3/2) but when she went off 2/1 I put $100 on her, so oh well..♥️🙏👉🇺🇸
@@chrisp.9172 it's crazy man because I get what you're saying. Especially as a former player. We could both be looking at the same thing and have totally different experiences. I won that juvenile filly. I lost the turf . I thought it was great and you thought it sucked. I thought the long photo was epic, you thought something else. But I understand because I've been on that side too where smelly fishy cost me big time, thousands' ruining my experience. Sorry, didn't meant to open wounds - I'm just a fan been to 5 BCs
@@RealDeaconDavid , it's not really a wound because I won that day. But as a former player you'll understand that it's never really satisfying, unless you hit the pic 6! I actually checked the payout on Johar, and it was $11.80 but I couldn't find the double payout. So, since you're listening, I'll tell you the rest of the story. I was In Vegas, staying at the IP, which was of the only hotels that offered points on horse racing, towards a free room. So even though I was playing the BC at the Palms( nicer, newer) I placed my bets on the Classic at The IP before I left, $100 win on Ten Most Wanted. But by the time the Classic rolled around, I was already close between TMW and Pleasantly perfect, Mandela ( My favorite trainer) was on a roll, Pat Day was riding like s**,t Solis, my favorite rider had just DH the turf, I figured I bet PP, but I had already bet at the IP ,so I'm just betting against myself, so instead of betting the $100 that I wanted to bet, I only bet $20 win, and to make up for it, I bet a $10 exacta box 3 horses, so in addition to losing $1200 that I would have bet on PP, I lose what would have been a Huge exacta when Congaree ran 4th losing 2nd by a nose and a head, so even though I won around $700, could have been another $2500! But somehow it was more good than bad, and if I remember right, that trip to Vegas was profitable! Sometime I'll tell you how I lost the pic 6 when Magician got up in the final strides, catching The Fuge, on a horrible ride from W. Buick, on a $24 ticket, but then I'm just complaining! Nice chatting with you! ♥️🙏👉🇺🇸👍
@@chrisp.9172 I won a pick-six in 1991 and it was awful, I only won $950 - five favorites and the second choice, terrible - I didn't even have to pay tax 🤪
I adore Julie Krone !
