    Thank you I bought some of the threads you mentioned from wonderfil and wanted to use in my sewing machine but was at a loss on how to proceed. You answered my questions and then some! I’m now a happy camper and can’t wait to sew with my thread stash!!!

    Thank you for this clear and precise lesson on using 12wt thread. I have never tried this before, but you make it sound, if one follows your few essential tips, easy! So I shall give it a go and see what I can do.

    Boy oh boy the things we can learn by UA-cam. Learning the different weights and what it does to your sewing machine. Thank you,

    Thank you so much for this. I've been struggling for hours trying to get thick thread through the bobbin and needle - not good! Now, sorted. Thick in the top thinner in the bobbin. Some great tips on tension too - many thanks - greetings from North Wales UK.

    Thank you! I look forward to working with thick thread again. I've never been able to use it, maybe I can after all.

      I would love to see how to do fonts, or sources of some fonts to purchase that are designed for 12wt thread. Not monograms, but fonts to write words. Thank you. Great video.

      I'm still having difficulty. I'm using 12w in top and 80w in bottom. Thread keeps breaking. Used both 90/14 and 100/16 top stitch needles. Thread doesn't shred, just breaks. Ideas? Id like to see more Thread tutorials

      So glad this video was able to help you! Some of the denser stitches won't work as well with the heavier threads since it gets too dense.

    Also is the bright red design with the bird and heart available.? I have been trying to find that design to embroider 🤭🤭😍😍.
    I hope so! I love the little design with the birds and heart at the end of the video. Thanks. Jennifer

      Thanks for letting us know! We would love to do some long arm videos in the future. The issues you're experiencing could be related to a tension adjustment. What do you recommend for making handbags with upholstery fabric? I don't want the bag to fall apart after items are placed in it. The seams need to be strong to hold up to the added weight. If I use a lighter bobbin thread and a home decor weight thread on the top, will my seams be strong enough? I really appreciate your help! I am new to bag-making.

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  3 роки тому +1

      That's a great question! For handbags with thicker materials, you can actually instead use a thread called HomeDec. It comes in 60wt, 40wt, and 30wt, and it's a super strong enhanced multi-filament polyester thread that is specially designed for sewing bags, purses, home decor, and upholstery. With this thread, you can use 40wt in the bobbin and needle, or the 60wt in the bobbin with any other of the weights in the needle. The 40wt will be your standard sewing weight, while the 30wt adds a nice bold emphasis for top stitching.

      Any free motion quilting foot would work great as these tend to show where you're stitching a lot better.

    Help! Worked amazing on my Brother se1900. Topstitch needle 100/16, speed slow at 350, external thread holder, 60 wt bobbin. But just bought a Babylock Pathfinder Embroidery only. Now, Thread just breaks and breaks and breaks. Same designs, I am using a chainstitch font. I tried a 90 wt bobbin, was even worse, came through to top. Is there a difference when have a Embroidery only vs Combo machine? Does anyone have experience with Babylock using this 12wt. I must get it to work, Can you help Wonderfil? What tension should upper be set at? Do I dare tough the screw on my extra bobbin case? Anyone have a babylock?

  • @mikayltrinidad4721

    How about for the high speed sewing machine? The lower thread is too loose every time i use the thicker thread. I even adjusted the tension but still it’s not working

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  3 роки тому

      Is the top thread pulling through to the bottom or is the bobbin thread pulling through to the top? If it's the former, then you'll need to loosen the tension. If it's the latter, then you'll need to tighten the tension.

    Thanks for this video, question, I have a Bernette B 38 machine; do you think I can use a 12 weight on that without hurting the machine? I am looking to use ticker thread on my Thread painting but was advised to buy a industrial machine for that instead the one I have. Thank you and appreciate your help.

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  4 роки тому +3

      An industrial machine shouldn't be necessary to use 12wt thread. The two most important things to consider when sewing with thicker thread is the bobbin thread and the needle. For 12wt thread, you'll want to use a 90/14 or 100/16 size topstitch needle because these needles are designed with a larger eye, giving the thread more space to move around. This needle size will also make a larger hole in the fabric so your thicker thread isn't dragging through the material, which can cause enough friction and tension to cause thread breaks.
      For the bobbin thread, you want to make sure not to use 12wt thread in the bobbin if you're putting it through the needle. We recommend a fine bobbin thread, such as DecoBob, which is an 80wt thread. This finer thread will give you a far better machine tension and stitch quality, as well as allow your thread to sit flatter on the fabric. This is especially important if you're doing a lot of dense stitching such as with thread painting. Hope this information helps!

    Can you use 12 weight in The Babylock Sashiko machine?

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  4 роки тому

      Yes you can, just keep in mind that the machine will double up the stitch, so your 12wt thread will look more like a 6wt stitch.

    What foot is that at 1.56? Where can I get one? Thanks

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  4 роки тому

      It's called a reverse-pattern foot and is a pretty basic foot that came with our machine: www.bernina.com/en-CA/Accessories-CA/Presser-Feet/General-sewing/Reverse-pattern-foot-1
      If you don't have a Bernina, you'll need to find an equivalent for your own machine. The best bet is to see if there's a dealer with your machine make in your area and order one through them, otherwise you might be able to find it online.

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  3 роки тому

      You can check your local sewing machine dealer as every sewing machine brand will make these feet, you just need to get the right one that will fit your machine!

    My machine constantly blocks when i use the thick thread... Do you perhaps know what is going on? It completely blocks after not even two stitches :(
