    I love 12wt thread.
    I use it for top stitching on garments and making craft items such as keyrings.

      Yes! 12wt sure pops beautifully on fabric ☺️ Making keyrings with 12wt is such a clever idea!

    Thank you for your video. I have a question: Which type of decorative 12weight thread is best for a serger?

    I didn’t think 12wt would fit through a sewing machine needle. What size do you recommend? I’ve used it in a serger looper for beautiful decorative stitches!

    Thanks so much for the video! I just made my first purchase of 12 wt at Quiltcon and can’t wait to experiment! Such pretty effects! What size needle would you use the 12 wt for when machine embroidering? And is it possible to use it in my Babylock Sashiko?

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  5 років тому

      We used a 90/14 topstitch and 100/16 super non-stick universal needle on our domestic embroidery machine for 12wt threads. If you have an industrial embroidery machine with 9 needles, you should check with your machine dealer for their recommendation.

    Can you use invisafil instead of decobob in the bobbin? Also, when doing hand quilting what sewing needle would you suggest?

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  3 роки тому

      You can absolutely use InvisaFil in the bobbin instead of DecoBob. We usually just recommend DecoBob in the bobbin simply because it's a tiny bit stronger, but it won't make a really big difference for your quilting.
      For hand quilting, you can choose any that has a shaft around the same width as the thread you're using and an eye that comfortably fits the thread without feeling too small or too loose. We especially like long darners because you can stack several running stitches on them at once.

    what weight do you use in the bobbin , I love thread painting, so Im dying to try the 12 weight, what needle do you use if using metallic thread? thanks

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  5 років тому

      We always recommend using a fine bobbin thread, like the DecoBob 80wt thread, as this greatly reduces the bulk in the stitching. This is especially important with thread painting because you're going to have a lot of stitching in one area. With a 40wt metallic thread, we recommend a 90/14 topstitch or metallic needle. You would also want to use the DecoBob 80wt thread in the bobbin with a metallic thread. Hope this answers your questions!

    What size of needle are you using with the 12 wt when using the sewing machine?

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  5 років тому

      A 90/14 topstitch needle is our favourite for the Spagetti and Fruitti 12wt cottons, and we used a 100/16 super non-stick universal needle for the GlaMore 12wt rayon with metallic.

    What thread and bobbin would be recommended for embroidery with a Brother CS6000i?

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  3 роки тому +2

      For that machine you'll want to use a class 15 size bobbin. We always recommend using a finer bobbin thread, even when you're not using a heavy 12wt thread in the needle. It makes a huge difference for helping your tension and giving you a nicer stitch quality. Our recommended bobbin thread is called DecoBob, which is an 80wt thread. You can use whatever thread you like in the needle with it up to a 12wt thread, which is the thickest thread you can safely fit through the needle.

      @@samuwaizu5298 We're not sure we understand your question. The CS6000i doesn't seem to be an embroidery machine. Can you clarify what you mean by the hoop?

    • @samuwaizu5298

      Apologies. It’s a sewing/quilting machine but people do use it for “free handing” embroidery. If you’re not sure how to answer, I understand! It’s an oddball question
