My instructor called my first 50 or so landings (Cessna 152) "air-craft-carrier touchdowns". Roud-out and, bam, on the ground. No flare. "Positive", but not hard. :D I round out earlier now.

In training. During pattern work this morning , did a two for one, and then came in too slow and plopped. I feel like you are looking at me. But, learning and loving it. Thanks for the great videos and content.

Did 4 landings on Sunday and had 1 go-around due to too much power in ground effect. Held 1m over the runway the entire length and enjoyed the slow flight and a great training exercise. Thanks for sharing your expertise. 2 -4-1 Landings (haha) I am still learning, As you say, "A good pilot is always learning". Greetings from EDAJ.

This was so timely Jason! I was practicing my landings yesterday. I had my first go around because I wasn’t managing speed well as I was coming into final and I flared and things got a little out of hand. This was my 9th ever landing, so got some more in after that. I walked away from that lesson knowing I needed to remember what speed I should have at each stage of the pattern. Time to go read that PoH!

Absolutely have. Did one Thursday, getting a high performance endorsement very last one of the day.

I can say I have done a number of two for one landings, but you nailed it, airspeed is king. It’s too easy to gain airspeed in the turn to base and turn to final and find myself behind the power curve on final. Which goes back to last week about the perfect pattern. Just have to tie it all together and PRACTICE. Thanks for your awesome insight Jason!!

Thank you for the video Jason!
As I am transitioning from the Diamond to our owned Cherokee 160, I am learning exactly what you stated……each aircraft is different.
The POH has my reference speeds however, the aircraft seems “mushy” when I am hitting those speeds. During that pattern work, 2 for 1 was common as I “learned” the characteristics of our plane. As I tried to adjust and come in a bit slower: yup….pancake, splat, carrier landing, whatever you want to call it! Starting to dial it in though and getting the landings on point.
Haven’t had the dubious honor of a 3 for 1 yet.
    Thanks again for the videos!

I flew to the AOPA flyin at Buckeye, AZ Sunday. Both my landings were too fast. I've used the 90, 80, 70, 65 thing for a long time, but I consistently come in too fast. Maybe my airspeed indicator is off, or I need to adjust those speeds? I don't know, but I have a tendency to float unless I get closer to 60 knots at the fence.

No twofer landing yet, just one hairy upwind wheel up first takeoff. It's been too turbulent around BJC and I have had to postpone my last 3 scheduled spots 😂

Two for one landings are part of the learning process. Hopefully you're plane survives the process!

Just hit 100 landings and I’ve never bounced, but I have ballooned plenty of times.
