With the cards you could try putting a centre crease in the card using a scoring board and then hand fold it rather than fold the card and press it sharply with the bone folder, it should give the card a better stance when standing, I find folding like you did in the vlog can make it easier to fall over, it can depend on the thickness of the card but it does give a nicer spine to the card when you score first. The designs are just adorable and can’t wait to see what comes next x

As someone who is starting there own greetings card business I’ve definitely found this video helpful and informative. I’ve been experimenting with different card stocks and generally found that around 250-300gsm is best. I’d recommend buying pre creased greeting card stock if you think you’ll be printing loads. The best papers I’ve tried are from Marrutt, Paperbox and PDA Card and Craft which are all UK based companies. Also buying recycled papers and envelopes are very popular atm as it appeals to eco friendly customers.

I use Red River Paper's precut and scored archival greeeting cards. I even use them for my 5x7 art prints since I can do one cut and you have a 5x7. I used to make my own cards our of my art print paper but I find it takes soooo much time cutting all those cards. I sell at conventions and in my wholesale shop, so the less time prepping and more time drawing is the best.
Greeting cards for me are a bit hit and miss, but I do love getting mail that isn't bills all of the time too, so I suppose it's a mix bag! Either way, I definitely like the satin paper of the ones out of house, but their thickness does make it difficult to stay standing in comparison to the others, so I'm actually quite eager to see how the in-house ones are! Will definitely be adding some to my next order. :D I also really love the weekly desk planner! It looks super adorable!! Am also very excited for the spring launch goodies! Spring can't get here soon enough.

Catherine, I have a thought on the weekly planner page if that's ok? I love the illustrations you do as backgrounds for your various projects. It's a shame you don't really get to see enough of the background on the weekly planner to tell really tell what it is. My thought is that if the writing blocks were made with a tad more space between them and just transparent enough to get just a hint of soft background illustration through them, we could enjoy the art more while having the writing spaces more individual and defined. Maybe?
I was a little confused due to watching alot of your videos if it was a old one or a new one until it said 1h ago😄 There is no shame about getting threapy its worthwhile. I have had therapy. And yes make it a priority. I don't get greeting cards anymore but if Hallmark Cards is still in business I say keep going with the greetings cards. 😊👍

I feel your struggle with the card GSM. I get so stressed about 250 vs 220 and when I ask the opinion of my non-print industry friends they can't tell the difference lol For what it's worth I think your new ones are gorgeous and will work well as greeting cards 🥰

I buy less of them at the store mainly due to the exorbitant price they are charging these days, and they just dont say what i want to convey on them. Handmade is so much nicer. And your designs are so damn cute! I you weren't in England and I in the USA i would totally order yours. I'd much rather have something unique then a cookie cutter greeting card.
I personally don't use greeting cards and I tell friends/family not to give me any, only cause they just take up space and I forget about them. I've had to throw out many cards in the past because I don't like the clutter. However, I do see the appeal of greeting cards and enjoy reading them sometimes, especially when they have really clever puns on them :P
I wonder if the out of house manufactured cards are just cut on the wrong grain? I find this happens ALL the time at print houses in my area, the staff that work the presses don't actually understand that paper has a grain and that there's a difference when you print stuff to fold parallel to the long edge vs the short edge. Maybe that's what causes the weird splay? They just arranged the cards to be printed the most economical on their paper stock without regard for the grain direction?
i still use greeting cards and for the paper i prefer the thicker ones only because i write with too much pressure so i would notice my writing would sort of engrave/emboss on the back of the card. i also prefer writing with a gel pen so i prefer paper wherein the ink dries out fast and doesn't smudge. i don't know if this would be of any help but i tried my best so i can give a proper feedback. 😅

The lamination tightens the front so pulls the edges out. I’ve had success with 350gsm Galerieart silk for cards. I use the Xerox Phaser 7800 laser printer though so not sure if that card is suitable for ink.

I'm a card maker my card thickness is 280gsm to 310gsm it doesnt rip or anything I do feel cards r dying just cause everything is online or digital now I'm love giving and receiving cards but that's just me x
I love greeting cards and I sale Christmas ones in my Etsy shop and for the the last two years they have been one of my best sellers but this past Christmas I didn’t sell a single one so sadly it seems like at lest in my experience cards are not as popular as they once were.
Is there a reason why you don't make postcards anymore (at least I haven't found any)? I'm personally not a fan of greetings cards, but I do use postcards a lot! I'm doing Postcrossing as a hobby, and it's the perfect format for a short message. People also prefer to receive stamps and postmarks right on top of the postcard. That way you don't have to worry about keeping any envelopes :)
As someone who started by selling cards I can say due to the cost of postage less people are buying them I do cards that like your self double as art prints but even with duel use its not enough.
I work in a bookstore and people always want a greeting card for any occasion. Birthdays, Christmas, wedding, baby,.... A lot of people also want money card, where you can place bills in slots, so the greeting cards are wider.

The card that is laminated is folding weird because the laminate is pulling it that way. I guess you could say the not laminated side has no strength, so it can't hold up to the laminated side.
I think the quality of the print is more important to me than the thickness of the greeting card. However, I do feel like thicker ones feel more luxurious😅Btw I love the jumper you're wearing here, where is it from? 😍

I love greeting cards, and I buy quite a few. Maybe too many. The thing is, and I hope you don't hate me for saying this, I don't buy your cards generally because of the repeating message. I prefer a card front to be short and sweet (Happy Birthday! You are a Poop! etc) with the impact (punchline) message to be printed on the inside. Or vice versa. I just don't like to see the same message twice. Just my personal preference, and I don't know if you have changed up the way you lay your cards out since I last checked, so this might be a pointless comment but I love everything else you make and thought I might help. x
Just an FYI. Paper has a grain. The reason some of the cards don't stand up, is they are printed on the wrong grain. Sorry I can't explain it well, but if you do some research you'll understand what I mean.
When you put the words on the screen, can you make them in a darker color because it’s very very hard for my old eyes to see a small letters and such a low color please
I tried the darker colour and it was really difficult to see 🥲🥲 I’m so sorry I could try adding an outline to make it stand out a little more? Or darken the drop shadow 🥹🎀
#3 looks more professional because it has an all over design and the colors are bolder. I think the new cardstock would be fine. Just make the design larger and slightly bolder. Thanks for the voice overs 😊 Now I can watch you draw instead of reading 😉 ❤❤

Oh no, I actually have no idea about any controversy but I’ve been using a therapist on here and have been liking it 🥲😭 some of my favourite creators have recommended this, and I’ve personally enjoyed it so far! I’ve already learnt a lot about myself!

not generally a greeting card person myself but i recently listened to an episode of a podcast called the economics of everyday things (from december) about greeting cards that you should definitely give a listen. seems like business is good. p.s. not sure if the copy on your burrito card that appears on screen is the final version but "bites" should be "bite's" ? assuming you mean every bite IS just right.

I love greeting cards and I sale Christmas ones in my Etsy shop and for the the last two years they have been one of my best sellers but this past Christmas I didn’t sell a single one so sadly it seems like at lest in my experience cards are not as popular as they once were.

Is there a reason why you don't make postcards anymore (at least I haven't found any)? I'm personally not a fan of greetings cards, but I do use postcards a lot! I'm doing Postcrossing as a hobby, and it's the perfect format for a short message. People also prefer to receive stamps and postmarks right on top of the postcard. That way you don't have to worry about keeping any envelopes :)
As someone who started by selling cards I can say due to the cost of postage less people are buying them I do cards that like your self double as art prints but even with duel use its not enough.

I work in a bookstore and people always want a greeting card for any occasion. Birthdays, Christmas, wedding, baby,.... A lot of people also want money card, where you can place bills in slots, so the greeting cards are wider.

The card that is laminated is folding weird because the laminate is pulling it that way. I guess you could say the not laminated side has no strength, so it can't hold up to the laminated side.
I think the quality of the print is more important to me than the thickness of the greeting card. However, I do feel like thicker ones feel more luxurious😅Btw I love the jumper you're wearing here, where is it from? 😍

I love greeting cards, and I buy quite a few. Maybe too many. The thing is, and I hope you don't hate me for saying this, I don't buy your cards generally because of the repeating message. I prefer a card front to be short and sweet (Happy Birthday! You are a Poop! etc) with the impact (punchline) message to be printed on the inside. Or vice versa. I just don't like to see the same message twice. Just my personal preference, and I don't know if you have changed up the way you lay your cards out since I last checked, so this might be a pointless comment but I love everything else you make and thought I might help. x
Just an FYI. Paper has a grain. The reason some of the cards don't stand up, is they are printed on the wrong grain. Sorry I can't explain it well, but if you do some research you'll understand what I mean.

When you put the words on the screen, can you make them in a darker color because it’s very very hard for my old eyes to see a small letters and such a low color please
I tried the darker colour and it was really difficult to see 🥲🥲 I’m so sorry I could try adding an outline to make it stand out a little more? Or darken the drop shadow 🥹🎀

Oh no, I actually have no idea about any controversy but I’ve been using a therapist on here and have been liking it 🥲😭 some of my favourite creators have recommended this, and I’ve personally enjoyed it so far! I’ve already learnt a lot about myself!
