Police Arrest Two Individuals Amidst Homeless Camping at Palisades Park

- On Monday, July 17, 2023, Santa Monica Police Officers took action by apprehending two individuals in Palisades Park after responding to a group of homeless individuals engaged in camping activities. The park was marred by a disorderly scene, with various items scattered across the grass, creating an unsightly environment. Determined to restore order, law enforcement personnel swiftly intervened, resulting in the arrest of two individuals. One suspect was taken into custody under suspicion of possessing narcotics, while the other faced charges of suspicion of public intoxication. Meanwhile, the remaining members of the group gathered their belongings and voluntarily vacated the area. Recognizing the importance of maintaining cleanliness, a police officer collaborated with a sanitation worker to clear the remaining trash from the homeless encampment.
This incident sheds light on the ongoing complexity of homelessness, an issue that lacks straightforward solutions. However, the city of Santa Monica remains dedicated to addressing this challenge and providing assistance to those in need. Recent data from the City's 2023 Homeless Count, held in January, revealed that there were 926 individuals experiencing homelessness in Santa Monica, marking a 15 percent increase compared to the 807 individuals counted during the City's 2022 Homeless Count.
To tackle this pressing issue, the city has implemented several measures. Notably, on February 14, 2023, the City Council adopted a Proclamation Declaring a Local Emergency Order on Homelessness. In light of the 2023 Point-in-Time Count results and the increased homelessness rate, city officials will recommend extending the local emergency until May 31, 2024. This extension aims to ensure the continuity and expansion of interventions designed to combat homelessness, providing vital support to individuals in need.

Deport!!!
Not far to go!
How dare them to sleep at ANY community area, creat a mess, crime, etc.?
It’s about time for the law to do something!!!
The only way to keep the park clean enough to use is to arrest drunk bums who will not obey the law
When every county starting to do this i bet you the homeless will disappear.
To the moon 🌙 ✨
The same way they got here just reverse 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@winstonwhiteside9525, are u kidding? This bad people who make bad decisions even their families do not want them , but they have shelters. I saw with my own eyes their shelters, they even have mini mobile houses (Gavin newsome showed us in a video, but this bad people DO NOT WANT TO STAY there because they hate the rules to go to bathroom.
This is what they do in Coronado, with a Republican mayor, and nobody lives in public spaces. They enforce existing codes and laws.
The United States exported its entire manufacturing base to Asia and third world countries and now millions of people here hopeless and are homeless. Is there a connection?
Unlikely, the "street people" have been around since way before the economic downturn. Also don't discount other factors, like lack of enforcement.
Thank you so much officers to clean the park ❤🎉
@@winstonwhiteside9525 Well, the San-Francisco-progressive method sure hasn't helped such matters.
@@winstonwhiteside9525 get in each an every program (including rehab and mental health) that's offered to you and follow it to the letter with all of the effort and will that you have. You know, like your life depends on it. If you can't hack it, there's other institutions like prison that can house you. That's the only solution.
@@winstonwhiteside9525 For one thing, it would help if activist (far-left) judges stop ruling that cities have no right to remove homeless encampments from public land. Cops in SF, etc, say that because of judicial rulings their hands are tied. Nothing kind or compassionate about that, about allowing or enabling Mad-Max urban dystopias
@@winstonwhiteside9525 all we have to do is repeal prop, 47,57 and we won’t see these people they’ll be in jail where they belong
I am glad and thankful that we don't have things like that here. I don't want to wake up one day and in front of my house is a homeless camp with tons of debris. I really hate shit like that.
I bet they are deep in the wooded areas.
I'm sure you do it's just out of sight... like in FL they're all in the woods
Finally police doing the right thing, don't let any body trashing this beautiful place not littering allow.
That area looked like a dump.
I used to live in Santa Monica, left in 2019…but that park will always remind me of seeing an Uber drop off four young ladies straight from LAX to that curb where the police car was parked. With their luggage and girls’ trip outfits probably from Iowa or something. The look of utter confusion and disappointment on their faces at their choice of vacation location was so pitiful.
I'm happy the police took action. But I can't help but wonder why him and the rest of the hundreds of others have not been arrested?
Wealthy Santa Monica residents North of Montana Avenue who are insulated from this trash pressure the city into remaining a cesspool. Guess their politics.

And yet they still left a mess
Law and order gotta have it.
Thanks!
No negotiations. Laws have been broken. Book em Danno, period.
Why aren't they doing this with everyone camping in the parks?
Too many of them.
Now THAT might be the best deterrent, eh? Consequences.
@@winstonwhiteside9525 housing is at the exact value that people are willing to pay for it. it's called a free market. you can't afford to live in the most expensive city there is? Well then you can't live in that city.

what a couple of beauties. Their mothers must be so proud.
Ohhhh.....the hermaphrodite in the black tank top is absolutely lovely!!👍👍
Really hate angry drunks, like that nasty woman, my later father was one when i was little, but fortunately he never hit me, but did shake his fist a few times, so because of this i became quiet and reserved, as i had too so dad did not get angry at me. In the 80s as a teen, while other were mostly partying metal heads, my quiet and inability to form healthy relationships with my pears, made me a target for bullying, Now that dad is now passed away, i do my best to put it all behind me, but a couple years ago my city put a homeless shelter right across the street from my apartment building, and I've been forced witnessed far to many cases of out of control substance abuse violence and crime my area, i really want to leave this now toxic area, but rents are insanely expensive and I cannot afford to leave.
Great video. Those police officers are excellent
If you arrest and charge them, do you send them home with a please appear in court in twenty years??
They're doing this because of the location. They can do it anywhere. And they're making them pick up their trash because Mommy didn't do it.

They do what the mayor tells them to do.

“Go to another street”. This is what they do.
Escort them to the nearest municipal boundary. "Don't come back, y'all!"
"Don't worry about it; unless you want to go to jail'

You have to buy or purchase, ocean front property, you cannot just set up blankets and tents
Well Fabian, that was fun. No doubt police are tired of dealing with public drunkenness. Things could have ended differently for some there. Good job, Officers! Thank you, Fabian.

Lots of diversity too.

From my experience, some had tattoos before they ended up on the streets.
