I wasn’t aware we had big cats in this area. Live in Decatur. Never heard of a sighting of even a bobcat.

The last mountain lion/cougar spotted in Alabama was in Baldwin county (southern Alabama) in the 1980's. Black Panthers don't exist at all and are a myth. This guy has no idea what he is talking about.
We have plenty of bobcats, but they don't pose a threat to humans.

Arthropods-- like insects and arachnids-- are animals. I keep seeing people making the claim they arent, and i have no idea where it came from

I took a QUICK (totally unthorough) look at other videos you posted on your channel and again, searched on "crime" to find a video title with the word "crime." I didn't find one.

It's great to know Alabama is "buyer beware !" THNAK YOU. But I think you do your viewers a disservice in this video by not talking about the #1 thing I'd want to know about.... "CRIME." I watched the video and thinking I must have missed the "crime portion" I search the "transcript" on the word "crime." NOTHING.

Alabama, as a state, has a fairly high crime rate. Huntsville is above the national average, but not by much.

No different than Houston, except no mountain lions = cougars = panthers (same animal).

Yeah, it's weird how it's one animal with so many different names! So you have very similar animals in Houston?

@@MovingToHuntsvilleAlabama256 Yes - alligators in the subdivisions now and then. We had a very large coyote (probably a coywolf hybrid) roaming our subdivision one Saturday a year or so ago. There was a bobcat in a downtown parking garage about 10 years ago. No red velvet ants, but the fire ants are bad enough. I have a racoon family that hangs out in my back yard now and then. All this within 3 miles of the Johnson Space Center!

I would have appreciated a toned down version.. Perhaps how likely it would be to encounter these animals and where they are most likely. Where I live in my state there are dangerous animals but there is less than 1% chance of encountering any in the home or around the home. My son lives in madison county and his wife for 17 years so i know it isn't a prevalent problem. I will be contacting another real estate company to help me with my search.@@MovingToHuntsvilleAlabama256

Considering Coyotes live in NYC and downtown Chicago I don't consider them much of a unique issue to North Alabama. Also I have seen them crossing 6th Ave in Decatur so they are not strictly rural.
Black Bears have recently started a return to the North Alabama area. I have seen photos from trail cams in SE Morgan County. One was hit and killed by a car near Mountain Top Flea Market in Attalla a few years ago (about 20 mi from Morgan County).
We have not had any confirmed Mountain Lions, young males have been spotted in NW Arkansas a few times (likely from the Colorado population, they can range long distances when they come of age). One from the endangered Florida Panther population was seen near Eufaula a few years ago which is almost 300 mi away. Melonistic Bobcats do exist, but Bobcats are unlikely to be a threat to humans.
We are generally out of the range of the Eastern Diamondback which is the most dangerous SE Snake (Coral Snake bites are incredibly rare and they are limited to below the fall line in the state).
Velvet Ants are common near water and sandy soil. People that get stung are usually fisherman who don't pay attention where they are placing their hands.
Honestly, don't stand in ant mounds and don't step on the snakes and the wildlife dangers are limited to humans.
