Thank you for a stunning podcast.
After eighteen years in the UK, I am back in my country, South Africa.
My husband passed away and I was very lonely, so I have come to live with my daughter.
After my tiny garden in Cambridge, I have landed in a two acre garden with huge overgrown shrubs and too many palm trees.
This is in Kwazulu Natal in the country.
We lived in Johannesburg most of our lives.
This is like living in another country.
The climate varies from 32c to 17c in a few days.
I haven't been this cold in years, because we don't have radiators or double glazed windows and the house is huge.
I'm really missing my Indian Summer Alstroemerias and masses of Verbena bonarianses.
I shall start sewing seeds.
When Alan talked about Nasturtiums, it took me back to my childhood in my mother's garden in Johannesburg where we had a lovely wild garden and always wild Nasturtiums. And my many posies of sweet smelling Nasturtiums.
Only thing that irritated me was when I arranged them, and left them, they would curl into their own arrangement.
This new garden is a monster, specially when you see plants that were sold as house plants, become a tree and invading a protea.
I'm getting on in years but I have discovered a lovely Japanese saw, and even if I only saw a few branches a day, the Protea has to be saved.
Pleased you are still having some decent weather, because here every day is a surprise.
I shall always look for a surprise podcast, because I enjoy them so very much.
Ps the photos and info much appreciated.
I just adore your show, you both are charming with such interesting plants and guests. I play your shows over and over. Thank you so much from a plant lover in the USA.
Thankyou again for a really fab and as always educational podcast. In my opinion yours is by far and away the best gardening podcast out there…and I have tried many!! Not sure how you manage to ripple along in such a light and breezy way whilst at the same time pack in such a volume of horticultural knowledge and know how. Yous are a great double act it has to be said!! Keep truckin’ 🤪🤩😜. Ps, you mentioned your good friend Mr Roofe on this podcast, can we have him back sometime soon pls. Ta xx
Super session, as always! Great fun and so informative. Thank you!
Lovely and enjoyable
Love listening to you both, the plants you mention always end up on my FLOMO list, I can’t tell you how many screen shots of plants with the names on I’m now searching for😅 Next year I’ve promised myself a trip to East Rushdon garden as I really want to see the real life version and how all the lovely recommendatios are all combined together as I know it will be the ultimate treat. Keep up the inspiring work it makes the end of my gardening year and winter more bearable planning what I can do for 2024🤩🤩😍😍
Sheer delight, right the way through! I can also verify, dry shade (admittedly I water periodically) and camassias can indeed do their thing 😊
Alan, I had the same problem with Delta's Sarah, I washed away the spittlebug larvae and got a magnificent display which is only now tapering off
I don't know if you take requests, but I'd love to see a show and tell from the Jurassic Plants and/or Panglobal guys.
Move your podcasts. Thank you. Please keep going in the winter
For future reference, with a bad internet connection - either move or talk and it will be better. Choose one. If talking, stay very still - don't wave arms or nod.
