Went to high school with Jason! Knew he was a SEAL but had no idea about all his accomplishments! Very impressive. Thanks for your service Jason! And thanks Andy for putting him on your show to spotlight his career
I can’t put my finger on it, but for some reason this is one of my favorite episodes ever. I don’t believe I’ve ever heard Andy talk about Buds as openly and candidly with any other guest. Real chemistry here.
Awesome observation, I'm just starting the episode so I'm at the 16:20 mark, half of those being the ads, but I have already picked up on that chemistry Andy has with him. I've actually been looking forward to this episode since FAF a couple Fridays ago! Cheers to everyone, about to enjoy this episode, as i do with pretty much every episode!
To all the former and current service men and women that may happen to read this, thank you for your service and all the sacrifices that come along with it🇺🇸
I did DMT when I was 17 while I was secretly very suicidal, and my mom seemed to be slowly dying of cancer at the time. The experience literally saved my life by preventing me from suicide. To this day, DMT is the most impactful and extraordinary experience that I’ve ever had. It was extremely beneficially impactful in many different ways. I had never, and have still never done any other psychedelics.
EDIT: Thought my timestamps got deleted by Andy this morning but must've been some weird YT glitch or problem. Reposted stamps in the comments somewhere. Thanks for the concern. Appreciate @J C for clearing that up.
That sounds like a reasonable and respectful thought process. Even if you decide not to do any more time stamping, thanks for all your work on previous podcasts.
I really appreciate you. I will often refer back to podcasts to find one specific 30 second point in a 3 hour podcast. Your detailed comments make it so much easier
Aah thats too bad, i agree with Raylan, I use the the most to quickly reference parts from old podcasts. Does youtube crack done on andys channel if people dont watch the podcast in its entirety?
Hi Andy, I had an idea for a guest, I would love to see Shawn Ryan on here, as well as Tony Eafrati- two other team guys I like hearing from. I also had an idea to have a special operations neurologist/neuroscientist/doctor of some sort on the podcast, that is specifically an expert in concussive blasts/TBI/causes/blast trauma, everything related to that. I think it could be helpful to a lot of people, and could raise awareness about the issue even more. great episode today!
I gotta say, Andy is a solid dude! No BS, no nonsense. Calls it how he sees it and stands on what he says, or like my Bro's and I say, "stands on his square"!!🤙🛹
Back in the early 2000’s pain was dubbed the “5th vital sign”. The standard of care was opiates for chronic pain. There was a ton of pressure put on docs and nurses to make sure patients pain was controlled, as a result there was a ton of opiates prescribed during that period. Opiates are basically contraindicated for chronic pain now
Man I would have never imagined this dude be who he is or have accomplished what he has, Even my wife guessed he was a punk star BUT both these dudes are exactly why I’ve never judged a book by the cover, Appreciate the service, Sacrifice & normality of this channel
I was lucky enough to go through the Honor Foundation with Tusch and JT.....amazing dudes. My lasting thought with them was: man I wish I got to work for them......When the sea state is 1-3 in Owls Creek, you are in for a looooong night. Sorta miss that.....mostly don't.
1:58:00 Wow I was there in 07 when that giant dump truck VBIED blew the eastbound lane on MSR Mobile in Ramadi, small world! (wasn't at area 51 though was with 3ID at the time). It effected eastbound traffic but not our ability to cross. There was a bridge "low water bridge" right below that we used.
So pumped for this episode! Thanks for all of the amazing (free) content. I have some ideas for guests in the future. It would be great to have some federal law enforcement guys on - specifically some of the guys who served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere (DEA FAST, FBI HRT, etc.). They often worked alongside military special operations units but there’s not much out there on them. It would be great to get their perspectives, especially for people interested in those types off careers.
Another awesome podcast, Would be great to hear doctor mark Gordon and Andrew marr (Green beret) on your show. They have helped alot of veterans with TBI and PTSD.
@@JRsmith.JR, they’re 2 guys who had some of the most intense training the US has to offer. These guys have some very special stories and experiences that you and I only dream of. Andy’s guests , coming from all branches of our military, have some of the best conversations that can found. Once it starts, they begin talking and sharing their experiences of Military life. Becoming a Chief or Officer is an unbelievable accomplishment to share. Andy doesn’t boast, nor do his guests, they share a timeline of their service time and the sacrifice to get there. It’s all good bro. You wouldn’t have gotten a response had you not crossed the line. He was shot during war time! Shot. In a war in a foreign country. Yet, he doesn’t speak of that very often. Think about that for a minute
The pool talk is almost disturbing, right?! These guys say it was the most difficult phase of BUDS. Some of these guys say it took a couple times to pass it! Damn brutal training and mad respect for these guys!
@@bradbrown9722 Absolutely! Funny - you're watching Cleared Hot & I'm watching Vigilance Elite. I've been immersed in these SF channels for a few months now.
What...?! Homemade pemmican is awesome!! Beef heart seems hardcore. I use venison jerky, bison tallow, and ground up dried currants & raw pumpkin seeds. Pinch of sea salt. Way better than energy bars!
For the few rude comments about Andy "talking over" guests: I can't speak for Andy, but on talking over people- I'm a NYC native and I see myself unintentionally doing that all the time because by nature we converse that way- it's cultural, and we definitely mean no harm. It's just enthusiasm, and a very hard habit to break when needed. One thing I wonder though, is if Jason's wishes were to talk less during the show. Idk, but he did mention being an introvert, so it's not impossible that Andy was trying to help him out in this case. Todd Fox's episode, however, was a great example of someone more akin to the kind of verbal ping pong required for both parties to have an equal stake in the convo when enthusiastic talkers.
Thank god two SEALs are talking about the war on drugs. Unfortunately, keeping people behind bars is a very lucrative business. Follow the money... Unfortunately, the medical industry also makes a large portion of their money by selling people pills... Addiction is “good” for their business.
Like George Carlin said many years ago, if you want to put a serious dent in the drug bussiness, start prosecuting the bankers who launder the drug money.
referencing around 34:00 about building personnel: A Great friend of mine (former marine recon) always told me that the responsibility of being higher on or up the ladder was to help bring the person below you Up. The intent reflected physically, mentally, educationally, and comradery. Bring the person in, make them a part, and teach them how to handle the trade.
1:18:40 Yeah, hovering in high winds over a rooftop (or the bow of a ship) with some shitty reference points can be a workout. I can remember my hands almost cramping and just praying for that "ropes away, tail's cleared out" call. Air refueling in a helo can be just as bad, just praying for a good plug and then getting into that Zen state, as Jason called it.
No hate, but I would like to hear the guest fully flesh-out his points before clarifying statements and follow up questions are asked. Its nice to have the clarifications/follow ups but for more chill guests, it seems like they get swallowed by the current interviewing style. All the best though, these guests are really unique and I love the podcast. There is a lot to learn from these perspectives.
