It feels so good to see Ran III out in the open! We pulled out the hull this Tuesday and right now we’re actually in the middle of doing the turns. Click into our Patreon page to see the updates from today if you can’t wait until next weeks episode ☺️
HI again... I was just re-viewing the design video from last year and.... did you decide on a rudder design? How about the engine system? Did you figure out the cockpit design and the engine room height? I assume you have the keel figured out as you made the pocket for it. Are there other design issues that have been fine tuned? Hmmm.. perhaps a design update episode??? ;)
I don't have the words to express how impressed I am at what you just accomplished. Fantastic, amazing, brilliant. The high degree of planning & preparation is what made today successful. A man and his wife, with the help of a few strong trees and some basic rigging tools, move a 50 ft sailboat hull out into the fresh air where Ran3 feels its first breeze. Congratulations to you guys.
Engineering is truly the pinnacle of human achievement on this planet. Everything we do everyday is touched by engineers. I salute you as a family for showing what can be done by talented and driven people.
I'm a machinist by trade, and a woodworker by hobby. I use my high school level education and life experience, to fix the things engineers fuck up. I've only ever met one engineer, in my entire life, who was worth more than a septic tank full of stale piss and Taco Bell shits, and he started his career on the shop floor.
@@OneTruePhreak in the UK your job as a machinist lables you as under the umberella of Engineering. This was meant as a nod of distinction to you and all of us who use ability to engineer a solution. If you wish to diss that then crack on but please excuse me if i just move on with praise for others that deserve it.
I watch a lot of boat related youtube videos but this was the first one where I didn’t take my eyes off the screen once! What an amazing accomplishment, I can’t wait to see the turning. 👏👏👏
after all that fairing Johan can just row you guys where you need to be. it's so awesome to finally see the beam in one frame. the scale. such an impressive endeavor.
And here we are, ⚡just like that!! If this were not filmed, no one would believe that one man, his wife and a few trees pulled it off!! What a milestone! Brilliant! Next week is the real nailbiter, yet some how I know you two will make it look easy! She looks massive out in the open and next week, when we see her right side up in all her glory will be phenomenal!! What did little Vera think, when she got home and saw the boat outside? I can't wait to see how you finish out the interior, decks, mast, ect. What a journey! Congratulations on this epic milestone!! I am already dreaming of the day she meets the water! 🌊
WOW...Congratulations, just the two of you alone did it. FANTASTIC JOB....So well planned and executed. I am on pins and needles to see next week. The boat looks beautiful out in the sunshine and can tell more of the curves of her lines. Very much something to be proud of.
I laugh at myself when I realize how much I'm grinning while watching this milestone. Congratulations! While certainly not THE biggest (like the launch), this is definitely one of the few biggest milestones in the process. It's up there with stepping the mast. You guys are the best. Thank you and keep up the great work.
It must be such a rewarding feeling, when all the meticulous planning, and going over it in your heads a hundred times, finally results in an execution that is almost exactly what you saw when you planned it! Great work, and great job communicating it to us with fantastic videos! I am sure it takes a long time to produce a video this informative. I certainly appreciate your efforts and thank you.
Very exciting! The more I see of your farm the more it appears to be the perfect fit. The luck of finding the perfect real estate and then the "miracle" of the lumber find makes it destiny for Ran.
Doing this (moving the hull outside) all by yourself, only with the help of your wife, is certainly amazing, but seeing the hull in the full sunlight, shows the absolute perfect work you have done ! Impeccable master workmanship !
wow. I couldn't believe the moment actually came to take it outside! and then I couldn't believe you guys could do it all on your own! and then I couldn't believe how awesome it all turned out!
For some reason I had imagined the shape of the stern as quite different than it actually is once away from the wall where we could see it. It's a beautiful boat, such an impressive achievement
So we just got home with a new 80" flat screen. Got it set up and your video came up...we were at the edge of our seats watching! Incredible work 👏 🙌 👌
Been watching since the early RAN I videos. Can't believe you've made it this far. You inspired us to see the country and are enjoying our time in Stockholm! All the best
👀 Watching all these vids with it in the barn where you really couldn't get a real view of its size and now with it outside, my word that's amazing what y'all have done so far. Well done.
@15 minute mark, you cut bottom of doors, when you make the new piece, add some hinges so you can open them in the future without cutting again. Add some pins to keep it closed in the wind and weather stripping to both the hinge side and the bottom to help keep the cold out. If you have to do it, do it right for the future. Everything is going so well. Happy to keep watching.
Je suis cette chaîne depuis ses tout débuts, mais je ne m'étais pas imaginé qu'une telle réalisation fût possible. Bravo à cette charmante équipe et à son courage!
Quite an incredible feat, one would never believe 2 people could move an item as big and heavy as that through a narrow hole in the wall successfully, I repeat, incredible, the pre-planning was invaluable
Truly a masterpiece in engineering and intelligence! Congratulations on your progress. I have been following from the beginning of your channel from here in Newfoundland, Canada.
Impeccable attention to detail..! Your workmanship and wherewithal on this project speak volumes.. The family unit is building this boat RanIII.. A HUGE congratulations..! J&G (NZ)
Your setup was very successful and I know what it takes to move large objects some distance like this, because when we were building a new cabin on a remote island in Alaska we had to move the old cabin across about 100M of sand. To do that we used a French-made tool called a grip-hoist, which has about 100 feet of 3/8" cable. You might look into one of those next time you pull a boat out of a barn, lol...
Bravo, standing ovations. 👏 IMHO, your engineering setup worked like clockwork. I'm so proud of the three of you. Thanks for sharing. Happy Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸
The number of skills that it takes to accomplish a project like this is amazing!! I am SO impressed at both of you learning so much, executing so well, and remaining family oriented and actually NICE. It is a relief from many of the other sailing channels that always want to make the most of self-inflicted drama and complaining at how not everything is not champagne sailing and an easy life. I'm running out of UA-cam channels to watch because I've been unsubscribing to so many that have become so depressing. Glad I decided to join Patreon of your Channel (not much but still wanted to do something to support) in what I think were the early days.
Roll a boat!!😮 You guys are nothing short of Amazing!! We're full of Admiration for all that's involved building Ran II! ......Just picture the 3 of you at anchor in the future.... Relaxed, nothing hurts, no mammoth jobs the next day, just chillin!!!......You're well on your way!!🎉❤❤❤

Thanks so much for sharing your building of RAN 111. Truly amazing and inspiring. Happy Sailing from Seattle! Much love ❤️

Amazing that two people can do this on their own. Immaculate planning and courage. Kudos to you!
It's 3 people. Vera helped.
Thank you ☺️

Well said & agree entirely! Impressive work by the 2 of you!
The nearest thing I can relate this to is ballet!
"It'll be a fair curve from a nobel plan"
I don’t stop being amazed at your boat building and film making skills. 👏👏👏
Fantastic job 👍🏻👍🏻, but we know you can do it ! Your the best team ! Soon the world will be up right !
This really is craftmanship and courage😅
Engineering is truly the pinnacle of human achievement on this planet. Everything we do everyday is touched by engineers. I salute you as a family for showing what can be done by talented and driven people.
I didn’t think he’s a qualified engineer. I think he’s a carpenter 🤷♂️
I think it's good to be multi skilled as Johan is. Boat building includes many expert fields.
Nah I say raising a child that turned out decen. That’s the greatest achievement one can have.

'Impressive' doesn't even begin to cover it....what an achievement, and really inspirational to watch.

Fantastic Job. I am all smiles here. It has been a pleasure watching this build so far, and I look forward to seeing the completion of Ran 3.
I will not live to see that, but its been great watching.
Now that it's out of the Barn, all I can say is ... THAT is a BIG BOAT ... Bart
Everything I want to comment on has already been said! Stupendous! & videos are terrific! Thank you!
Fantastic accomplishment! Congratulations! I wish for continued success as the project moves forward!
BC here. I think I'll just sit here smiling for a while. So awesome.
From Nanaimo, British Columbia. 11:24 PDT. I’m in awe!
Holy smoke! That was an incredible undertaking. Well done!
wow, everyone take a step back and appreciate what an enormous achievement two people have made here so far.
Your hull was born today! Amazing!!
Even had to take to the birth canal with the sawzil
It was beautiful to see sunshine on the hull! What a milestone. I was rooting for you every step of the way! Great job!
WOW...Congratulations, just the two of you alone did it. FANTASTIC JOB....So well planned and executed. I am on pins and needles to see next week. The boat looks beautiful out in the sunshine and can tell more of the curves of her lines. Very much something to be proud of.
Such patience, deliberation and care in every step. Impressed !
WOW!!!!! OUT of ALL the NEW Builds going on with all the sailing channels!!! THIS ONE is REALLY Exciting EXTREMELY OUTSTANDING WORK!!!!!!!!
I was literally on the edge of my seat watching you. I can’t imagine how much you were nervous as Ran lll came out of the barn. She looks awesome!
Totally agree

"Exactly as I had planned it !" ....what an understatement...this boat building adventure is impressive. Well Done !
Wow, a huge milestone! Congratulations from Pargas, Finland!
Great example of what two people can archive with relative simple tools but a good plan and enough patience!

You two are amazing. Enjoy these video greatly.
Love Vera’s. Art work on the strongbacks
Wife & I both commented at the same time! It’s like we were watching a childbirth! And a beautiful baby, she is! 👍❤️👏
What an achievement. A massive milestone reached. Well done.
Such a class act in every way. I have no words that would properly describe my admiration for this family.
You both are totally badass! Thank you for sharing you boat building journey with us!
Very exciting! The more I see of your farm the more it appears to be the perfect fit. The luck of finding the perfect real estate and then the "miracle" of the lumber find makes it destiny for Ran.
It is often said there is no rest for the wicked, but perhaps we also need to be saying....
"Rest is rare for the ambitious"

If the barn starts moving, then you know you’ve got a problem. This is the best video ever on UA-cam.
wow. I couldn't believe the moment actually came to take it outside! and then I couldn't believe you guys could do it all on your own! and then I couldn't believe how awesome it all turned out!
Congratulations! What a huge and satisfying milestone!
And once again everything turned out as planned.
That speaks for your tremendous planning!
What a fantastic achievement. You both deserve to celebrate with a champagne tonight.
For a fifty foot hull, the interior volume is amazing.
Johan - "not a lot of wiggle room here"... understatement of the year! 😆 What a great job!!
For some reason I had imagined the shape of the stern as quite different than it actually is once away from the wall where we could see it. It's a beautiful boat, such an impressive achievement

Incredible work 👏 🙌 👌
You guys are amazing. Aloha from Big Island.
That's one Sweet looking hull ! You're making great progress wish I lived close enough to come by and give you a hand . California is a long commute !
One of the best UA-cam channels .
Been watching since the early RAN I videos. Can't believe you've made it this far. You inspired us to see the country and are enjoying our time in Stockholm! All the best
Wow, great job!! My heartbeat definitely went up a few times here but you handled it well! First trip done!
Loved the quick rolling start before the stern "brake" took up!
Tying off a lateral load to that brick wall i nervously watching. Hopefully he drills an anchor in the floor to pull it back in.
@daversj my thoughts too.
But then he hasn't stuffed up yet
Only one word, Malin : Fantastic Job ... Your man is a genius !! Congrats !!
The trees cooperate well, don't complain and work for free. Good job boss!

Hats off and a standing ovation to the most capable man on UA-cam!
Hey Guys, that was a nail biter of an episode. Engineering at its finest. The hull shape is looking great. Good luck for the next process.
Truly a masterpiece in engineering and intelligence! Congratulations on your progress. I have been following from the beginning of your channel from here in Newfoundland, Canada.
If this is the case, you two are not only sailors but also engineers who plan and build a fairly large sailing ship. greetings from Indonesia ⛵⛵⛵
Incredible achievement- the ultimate chippy developing new skills, congratulations on that stage
Impeccable attention to detail..! Your workmanship and wherewithal on this project speak volumes.. The family unit is building this boat RanIII.. A HUGE congratulations..! J&G (NZ)

My favorite boat build video of yours. That was amazing!

Wow that went well, well planned thanks for a super video.
