"I don't care how your grandmother died." My thoughts exactly but that seems like a bonus point to get accepted for the Full Draw Film Tour. The GoHunt videos are top notch.
GOHUNT is an amazing tool for hunters in any state. If you continue to do the same thing you’re gonna continue to get the same results. Just like they said the states set the tag quotas. Alot of guys don’t wanna wait 15 years to draw a tag. Period. We want to hunt every year.
Non resident hunters is the best way to live for one’s neighbor. Montana welcomes you lots of cover the counter tags. Something I would like to see one of these mapping apps do is. Allow a hunter that is using the app to take a picture of a gate or water source and upload it to be verified or a filter that can be over lates for a second option. As always great content.
I think the opposite is true-information is power. Instead of 1,000 hunters trying to get the same hunt unit, you have 1,000 hunters applying to 100 different units. With these tools I can find the exact tags I want across all the western states that fit my goals. I believe hunting is more popular now than it’s ever been in modern times-not necessarily because there are more hunters; but because more hunters dedicate more time to hunting than in the past. For example, when I was a kid a hunter would do one resident deer hunt and maybe one resident elk hunt. Nowadays, hunters will do multiple deer hunts and elk hunts across multiple states. Demand goes up with the same number of hunters but each hunter is hunting 2-3 times as much as they used to. I think it’s important to welcome as many hunters as we can to participate in hunting-it’s how we keep our rich hunting traditions alive in an increasingly modern world. Tools with critical information like goHUNT diffuses demand for hunting by providing information that disperses tag applications across a broad range of options. With the correct information I can stop applying for a tag that will take me 10 years to draw because I can find an equivalent tag that I can draw in less than 3 years. At the end of the day, information is power. The more we know, the more successful we can be. I embrace information and technology because it’s not going away. I adapt to it and I keep trying to win.
@@GrittyGearAndPodcast you are dismissing that in the past people would have to do the research themselves....now wealthy hunters simply pay these tag companies to do all the work for them... and these companies submit their clients for tags throughout the entire country....as a result outfitters prices have sky rocketed....states have increased tag prices due the the increased demand and the end result is the average guy is pushed out....I live in AZ...in the 80s I could get a Deer tag every year...archery elk tag every other year .....now with fewer total hunters I am lucky to get an archery elk tag every 6 years and a deer tag about the same for a quality unit....I can archery deer hunt, but success rate is less than 5% for archery hunting...
@@GrittyGearAndPodcast This is spot on. shut out the hate on this. GoHunt is tec helping people make the west more accessible. are there some macro draw backs for some folks, maybe, but net net its super positive. Thanks for all the awesome content and info.
But the bigger it gets the more each state will value the resource and improve its quality. I just don’t believe in a scarcity mindset. I think there’s a vast amount of untapped opportunities that will backfill the demand as hunting becomes more valuable to the public. And there will always be places that sweat equity will take you (with easy draw odds) that others are not willing to do.

@@GrittyGearAndPodcast NOT true....in my state of AZ the quality of hunting is going down as AZ now is more motivated to make $$$$ than manage the game....
@@GrittyGearAndPodcast most of us are limited on the time we have...I get 21 days of vacation a year...that must be divided among family and hobbies...I am lucky if I can manage 1 hunt a year....I think you will find the vast majority of hunters are in the same boat....
@@Nightmarehc130 - Dave, why do you say that? I know quite a few people that work for AZFG and they’re awesome. It takes money to manage wildlife. I don’t hate on any state that makes an effort to maximize its wildlife resources. There are some realities in AZ that everyone has got to own-it’s an arid state. AZ is subject to severe droughts. And arid states do not sustain the game populations like other wetter states (ID, MT, WY, OR, WA). AZ might have 30,000 elk, whereas CO has 300,000 elk. CO will issue more than 215,000 elk tags per year. Whereas AZ can only issue a maximum of 25,000 tags per year-that’s a big difference. If you choose to only hunt Arizona you will likely always have difficulty getting stellar tags because the state simply doesn’t have that many tags available. And when you combine low population numbers with severe droughts over a multi-year period, tag allocations are going to be severely impacted-the same is true for other arid states like Utah and Nevada as well. I’ve lived in Utah for 5 years and I’ve never hunted here because it’s really tough to get a tag in this dry, arid state with limited wildlife populations. But I am able to get at least one or two excellent tags in ID, MT, WY, CO, or OR almost every year. I think it’s unfair and terribly inaccurate to paint AZFG with the broad brush of being “all about the money.” I’ve worked with wildlife agencies across the United States and AZFG is probably in the top 3 of the best wildlife agencies in the country-they do an amazing job.
