  • Amazing new PB in my FA5 Civic Si this weekend with VTEC Club. Ran a 1:24.7 and there's definitely still some room to grow. The repave made Streets of Willow so much faster. Super stoked!
    Setup:
    - Stock K20Z3 w/ I/H/E and tune
    - Shaftworks USA coilovers w/ 10k F/18k R springs
    - Stoptech C43 BBK
    - 17x9.5 F/17x8 R Wedssport wheels
    - 255 F/225 R Bridgestone RE71R tires

    Interesting early apex for turn 5. Need to try that next time I’m there

      The more I drive Streets, the more I'm convinced there is no such thing as the right line, even in the same car on the same day.

      @@DriveBreakFixRepeat LOL I think the winning formula for Streets is: 1) lots of low speed grip. 2) how much balls you have to keep it floored thru the chicane. Everything else seems irrelevant 🤣🤣🤣

    Yoooo nice driving man I personally have a k24 swapped 8th gen since my k20 blew up but man hearing yours scream makes me miss mine lol but what shift knob is that! And is that a little bow on it? It looks sick man!

      How difficult was your swap? I’m about to do the same thing since my fa5 has a cracked block. I’m having a hard time finding a Z3 so I’m considering getting a k24 instead.

      Acuity. Installed their shifter refresh kit, video on it soon. The other piece is just a blue ribbon I tied around the shifter, something I've just always done with my cars.

    Awesome driving, seems you feel confident with the car, from the vid you can feel you are really pushing it.
    I recently watched most of your videos related to your civic and appreciate the info/content provided.
    I wanted to ask how is the C43 bbk treating you, have u had any problems, how is the wear on it? Do you think it is a lot better than the ST40 and worth the price difference?
    I am surprised on the noticeable difference on the handling and your driving on the vid when you changed to the shaftworks suspension. I hope someday to try a set up similar to it.
    Did you do a vid or plan to do one on the wheel change from the enkei to your current setup? I noticed you are .5 wider on the wheels, what offset are they? Are the tires wider than the previous ones? Sdems from your comments you are getting even wear, that is something difficult to acheive sometimes. Had to do any roll or modification to clear the new setup up front?
    Have you bothered yet to do new suspension bushings or to go for spherical ones?
    Thanks!

      I would say I have covered most all of your questions as I have developed the car. There are some super handy videos if you scroll back :)
      The only one I haven't covered is a long-term follow up on the C43 kit: so far I have replace the rotors once and the pads once. Haven't even had to bleed the brakes since installing them. Wear and longevity has been very impressive and performance on-track is perfect. That said, I suspect ST40 is still the way to go for most drivers as the price differential is tough to swallow.

      @@DriveBreakFixRepeat thanks for the response. I will go back to your videos to see if I can capture some of the details I missed. Looking forward to your next mods and track vids.

    Hey nice time man! … no way a k20z3 n/a sounds that good and that time! Well I have coilover on mine, headers and exhaust but I cannot make better that 1:33 on that track… I have to tune my kpro but do you recommend anything else for me to get better time?(only been once on that track) I might have to tune my suspension too and I have the Megan braces for the body too

      Don't buy any parts for the car, all that matters is seat time.

      @@DriveBreakFixRepeat cool
      I see what you are saying that we should all be buying parts after we get experience with the car on track and at that point buy the parts that’s accommodate to the driving that we do. I have been watching your channel and since you have tried different parts for the FA, it would be cool that you make a short video or a list just giving a generic template of the parts that would help most of FA and FG owners to achieve good lap times like you have done. I know the parts you use and spec are made for your type of driving but a good generic/suggestion template for specs would be greatly appreciate it. Like I didn’t know that having 245/255 tires on front and 215 on back would help cornering on this type of car… things like that I am willing to test on my own too and without the documented videos you are posting I wouldn’t have thought about. Thanks

    Vrey nice lap!
    What is the widest tire that fit in front and rear?
    Can i put 265 in front?
    Do you think r18 is better than r17?

    so does a sway bar kit actually improve handling on the Fa5s or would you just recommend doing a rear sway bar only??

    • @DriveBreakFixRepeat
      @DriveBreakFixRepeat  2 роки тому +1

      Ask yourself. Does the car have any handling deficiencies? What am I trying to fix. Sway bars are tuning devices, just like changing alignment, spring rates, etc. What works for me, and on the tracks I drive, might not work for you.

  • @throbbybobby7893

    Have you played around with any other spring rates? Stock rear sway bar?

    • @DriveBreakFixRepeat
      @DriveBreakFixRepeat  2 роки тому

      This is my fourth(?) iteration on the suspension setup. Finally have optimal tire wear for a front-heavy McStrut car, so not looking to change things there. Stock sway bars. Rear bar change has next to no effect on limit handling, tested it previously with no change in lap times, design limits the leverage the bar has on the rear tires.
