    This very version of Tyson may not be at his 100% peak, but physically I would say he looked amazing. Look at him, perfect age at 29, ripped and looks more bigger than the time he faced Mcneeley. The fade and the Goatee also looks on point

      Had he re-hired Kevin Rooney and really deep down in his heart wanted to be great again, then he would've dominated the 90s era of heavyweight boxing. Just imagine a 96 version of Tyson who is again disciplined the way he was at the 80s but much larger looking (even though 220 lbs was he ideal weight)

    Bruno might not be all time great but he won the title from Mccall , who got the title from Lennox .
    Tyson had 4 years of inactivity from the ring and after he came out from prison, he only had few rounds prior to this fight.... so to win it in this fashion was still remarkable.

    • @BoxingFightsByGaryWilson
      @BoxingFightsByGaryWilson  4 роки тому +29

      It was bizarre to see how easily Bruno folded in this one, he'd beaten McCall and was beating Lewis am sure with the right mindset he could have done a lot better, i think he knew he couldn't beat Tyson and quit before the opening bell basically.

    • @vicrattlehead6386
      @vicrattlehead6386 4 роки тому +14

      @@BoxingFightsByGaryWilson Yea, Bruno wasnt afraid of Mike in their first bout. He traded punch from opening round, got knocked down but continue to fight back and managed to stunt Tyson in second round, even landed some uppercuts. However, Tyson simply outpowering him.
      Here he basically came into this fight already thinking he couldnt win. Hence he pulled a "Bonecrusher Smith", hugging Tyson all night. He was actually ahead on judges scorecard before getting stopped by Lennox and Lennox face was swollen badly in that fight, same with Mccall. Bruno had punching power but his movement has always been stiff, and if you dont move alot when fighting Mike, its only about time before you'll get hammered.

      @@sanmiguel4300 This was sadly true, not a rumor, hence he retired after this fight. I think its the main reason he's so afraid of getting hit in this fight, because the eye condition. Bruno didnt hug all day in their first clash, and he never held against Lennox.
      The fact that Tyson opened a huge gash above his left eye only made it even worst for Frank.

    Mike Tyson is the human equivalent of a Staffordshire Bull terrier- compact, fast, incredibly powerful and extremely tough and ferocious- a specialist in bringing down much larger opponents. Frank Bruno- what a legend, a talented boxer- often underrated, very powerful and immensely courageous, an absolute gentleman with a terrific sense of humour. Tyson respected him as an opponent, after his first victory against Frank, he came over and embraced Frank and said, "Outstanding, outstanding!" to him. Frank was a fine boxer, Mike was a superb boxer- both great athletes.

    Mike Tyson was an animal, and in his prime, he was formidable. He should have stopped with Kevin Rooney, and he would have been heavyweight champion for years, but when Don King and Robin Givens got involved, it was all about money. After the Spinks fight, Tyson fired Rooney along with all other staff that comprised the Team Tyson from the beginning. The day Tyson fired Kevin Rooney, there was a cap put on Mike Tyson's development as a fighter. He did not develop anymore beyond that day.

    Tyson was still an absolute beast but, as we saw in his subsequent fights, he appeared and became human. In his early 20s, Tyson was an inhuman, relentless wrecking machine; just compare the movement and pace that he comes out with in the first round of each of his fights against Bruno. Understandably after his long time out of the ring, Tyson's physique had also changed and appeared slightly slimmed down. He was still a formidable boxer but the earlier Tyson, before all the distractions and diversions, was unstoppable. At least we saw peak Tyson because his pure intensity, focus and hunger had already begun to dim prior to his time in prison.

      Hard to say, he was due to face Holyfield in 91/92 & knowing what we now do, Holyfield would more than likely have beaten him on & around that period. Tyson's career could realistically have been over by 95', it's very hard to say whether he'd have regained the title had he not gone to prison.

    • @TheMysticMooshroom

      @@BoxingFightsByGaryWilson yea true and Hollyfield himself has said that he studied mikes fights his whole career, knowing he would face him at some point. The guy was so focused and intent on stopping Tyson I don’t think Tyson could’ve ever beaten him, it was a heavy mismatch. That being said, Mike was still a top tier fighter and I think even if he lost a few matches here and there without his negative egotistical influences, he would’ve ended on a better note than he did in reality
