Just watched this movie for the umpteenth time, one of my favorite movies of all time! Babs is still so beautiful even in the first half of the movie when she wasn’t supposed to be. There are many lessons to be learned from this movie, two of them being don’t forget to love , respect and share your live with your significant other, and the other being don’t hide your real passionate feelings for for them, let all out. I had the DVD which someone stole from me, so I purchased the movie on iTunes, so hopefully I would be able to always see it. This movie has not been shown on tv nearly enough.
I adore this movie. Besides the enjoyment of watching Barbra and THE one and only Lauren Bacall, I love the fact that Barbra finally manifested the love of her life, James Brolin, into her life during this movie. I love her philosophy that if you can visualize it, your dreams will come true. Yes, I admit I'm a sappy romantic. That's partly why I love Barbra. So is she.
Personally, I believe that Barbra Streisand is loved as much for the incredibly versatile range in tones of her voice, the perfection of her interpretations both of lyrics of a song and in delivering lines in a scene, to her many many many wonderful faces, her philosophy on life and the sincerity and believability of everything she does and characters she portrays. Barbra Streisand is genuinely ONE OF A KIND HUMAN BEING.. + She ADORES HER SON JASON who has grown into HIS OWN VOCAL TALENT!

There's a really old Tripod webpage online (looks it was last updated in 2001) where someone is listing their Streisand rare audio/video they're willing to trade via DVD - from back when that was still how such things were done. He lists that he has 80 minutes of on-set footage from the Mirror Has Two Faces. Does anyone know if or when such recordings were released, and on what versions/formats they might be found? I would love to get my hands on that. Mirror is my favorite Streisand film, at least it is tonight, since I've just watched it again. I bounce between this, Nuts and On a Clear Day for which is my favorite, usually based on which one I most recently watched. And I generally watch each multiple times a year. :) But the last few times I've watched this one, I've been extra vexed with the sense that Henry's "she thought it was a diet book" speech is cutoff. It just feels like there's a chunk missing, and I keep wondering if the scene was longer and some of it ended up on the editing room floor. Plus I could just watch Streisand rehearsing that courtly love oral discussion for 80 minutes and I'd be all shiny. :D

Barbra really wants to do it ALL !! What I'm curious is why she hasn't directed another movie since Mirror, which BTW was not a good movie despite all the experimenting Barbra did while filming. I enjoyed Lauren Bacall's scenes more than anything else. The romance between Barbra and Jeff Bridges' characters seemed forced and fake.

This movie became a family movie to us, as in we always watched it together, first movie of Barbra Streisand that I saw.
