  • In order to get away from it all, one sometimes needs to take a walk in the woods. I don't know about you but I need that smell, that sensation of being surrounded by huge trees. I am told that cabins in the woods are not perfect places to live, due to the evil dead and the like, but I can't bear the idea of living too far from trees. Call me a tree hugger, I don't hug them so much but I like to touch the bark and feel that strangely light rough quality.
    Dowdeswell Woods, not far from Cheltenham, is a beautiful spot to visit. As it was nearly lunchtime, the short route was taken with the result that there was a bit of traffic noise from the road nearby. All the same, this gave me the opportunity to mask some of that with Jesse Gallagher's The Inner Sound which I have used before. It's a very pleasant and calming track. Laid on top of the natural sounds of the forest, I like the sensations it evokes. Maybe you will feel the same, maybe not.

    I agree with you. It is nice to spend some time walking through the forest and getting up close and personal with nature. Dowdeswell Woods looks like a nice place to visit and enjoy the sounds of nature and see all the brilliant green colors. I love the opening shot with the light coming through the trees. You must enjoy this special place and all its wonder. Thanks you for sharing. I hope that you have had a nice weekend.

      Thank you for your kind words and wisher. I hope that you too are enjoying the weekend. I could lose myself so easily in the woods. And I'm not saying this as an outdoorsman. There is just something very special for me about that kind of environment. We are so lucky in England in that there are all these natural places where you don't have to travel far to visit. It's great for people who love nature but want to go back home at the end of the day. Anyway... Thank you, as always for your comments. Much appreciated.

    I have been meaning to watch this for a while, just finally got around to it at last! And once again the ambient music fits so perfectly over this beautiful film. You have done these lovely woods justice with your calm & unhurried approach to filming them. The ending was spot on! Jago, I’m intrigued as to what your camera setup is...is it an iPhone with stabilisation switched on and then mounted on a gimbal? Because your footage is buttery smooth as well as excellent image quality! Like added ;

      Thank you. I do enjoy a good nature walk. Cotswold villages will always get more hits but, for me, there is nothing much more stunning than these old trees. It would take a lifetime to do them justice. I'm using a gopro 11. It has a stabiliser built into it because they were primarily made for the type of people who want to film themselves jumping out of aeroplanes (something I've never felt much inclination to do myself) so they are quite sturdy and easy to manage. Not great for low light, unfortunately. Thank you as always for watching.

      @@jagoturner Thanks for the clarification, after I posted the comment I wondered was it an action camera as there was no depth of field on the closer up shots. The digital stabilisation it has, is incredible! At least you have no worries about getting it wet. It is a shame that our nature walks don’t get the hits that the villages accrue, still, that won’t put me off sharing them, I’m sure you also feel the same way too, as we both deeply enjoy our nature walks :) Hope to speak again soon.
