A great synopsis of this play set. I had this as a kid but sadly don’t have it anymore. This was my favorite of all time. Got it in 1979 for Christmas. What a gift this was!
Ah, I was born in 78, my earliest Star Wars toys were around 1982 at the tail end of Empire and just before Jedi. Would love to see some of your collection if you ever fancy a change from Transformers reviews.
The trash compactor is my favorite part as well as the trash monster figure. But that foam looks pretty rotted, I think some fresh foam would do nicely.
ha ha i know the feeling! where you mentioned in this review about doing the cardboard deathstar base playset reminded me i have the action force version of it, i used to use it as my deathstar for my starwars figure's!
i think i remember this set from when i was very young, i didn't have it but what a cool toy, i would have loved that! also show's in those day's toy's were built to last! great review luke!
Ah yes, I have that one too, I got that first and when I got the Death Star I was amazed at how much bigger it is than the Action Force HQ. Speaking of cardboard sets have you ever seen the Transformers cardboard base thing? I have a mate in the US who sent me some pics of it a few years back, I didn't know it existed and I have never seen it anywhere since. I think it may have been a comics mail-in from the early G1 days.
Hello. I’m looking to make some replacement windows for the trash compactor. From the pics I’ve seen online I can see that they have flanges along the long ends. If you’d be able to provide any details, I’d appreciate it. The overall length and width of each one would be great. Thank you.
I still have this playset and I it is still my favorite and it still works but like his my foam trash has shown its ago and is disintegrating too so I too have it bagged up. I remembered doing the same thing too at the end with the figures while reenacting Death Star scenes from the movie while imitating sound effects and music since I have seen the movie about 65 times.
My dad bought this for me for Christmas in 1978. I could swear the one I had didn't have the white flooring, but black or blue throughout...could be wrong though. It was a long time ago...
that would be good in principle but where do you put all these things! I have no room for displays at all, just mountains of cardboard boxes in the loft!
I don't think you will run out the size of your collection! I will be branching out to Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Turtles, Action Force and a fair few other 80's lines when I get the courage to tackle the loft!
i have seen it, but only in picture's as i believe it was a mail in robot point's give away and i'm not sure that you could get it in the uk, i'm not positive on that but i've never seen one first hand even back in the day? what i would love but you don't see them much and they go for alot of money is the i gear ark playset in the g1 style, it is very cool and would be great for displaying g1's in!
It really irked me that the compactor didn't close all the way. No fun unless you could actually "crush" your heroes! Plus my foam was blue and grey (maybe over time the ones in the video changed color). Basically the best thing in the whole set was the dionoga. It was a cool playset but even a careful kid like myself, this broke piece by piece very easily. I think the barrel on my cannon lasted about a week before that snapped.
+Michael Diehl oh an another note - the swing rope. I'm nearly certain there's another piece. Besides the rope there was a plastic upside T with footpegs for Luke and Leia which allowed them to dangle together while Luke reached for the rope piece.
Superb how did i mess this well done on finding such a great copy please remember if you have it out on display to keep it way from outside light it will yellow the second floor this is an amazing item . **rates*
hhmmm i thought of doing some but for now i'll stick with my tf's, but it could be something i'll do in the future if i ever run out of tf's to review? lol

This is a nicely designed playset. I still have my original with the foam. The Dianoga was a huge bonus ; They never count him as an action figure.

I never put the big gun in I used the chair for the emperor and mine had orange foam squares in garbage compact love this I still have it
The trash compactor is my favorite part as well as the trash monster figure.

Wow!!! Brings back memories of a simpler time!! Love it , thanks
Charles Turner No worries, thanks for watching

Such a cool set! 1977 Kenner Star Wars was probably the best toy line ever.

How do we know that what poked out of the water was the dianoga's eye?... LOL

yes i'm 39, i was 5 in 1977 when starwars came out, i do still have quite alot of my old starwars ship's and figure's!
I always thought of the DIAGNONA as a octopus because it had tentacles that wrapped around lukes leg.
that would be good in principle but where do you put all these things! I have no room for displays at all, just mountains of cardboard boxes in the loft!
I recall Having a almost Incomplete version of this thanks to my fathers childhood.
totaly amazing marra. exelant revivew. keept haveing flash backs to the adam and joe star wars vids.
I don't think you will run out the size of your collection! I will be branching out to Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Turtles, Action Force and a fair few other 80's lines when I get the courage to tackle the loft!
cant believe iv never seen this listed amazing you have it iv got one myself and i keep my trash stuff in a plastic air tight bag as well
i have seen it, but only in picture's as i believe it was a mail in robot point's give away and i'm not sure that you could get it in the uk, i'm not positive on that but i've never seen one first hand even back in the day? what i would love but you don't see them much and they go for alot of money is the i gear ark playset in the g1 style, it is very cool and would be great for displaying g1's in!
wow this is damn awesome, if only they still made stuff like this, great review man
You must be a little older than me, I don't remember this from childhood. I have the other Death Star coming up for review soon.
Great vids. Your collection should be in a fuckin’ museum!

That would be great, not sure if my gun is broken or the platform it sits in is broken, it just doesn't lock in. Keep me posted, thanks
its a stunner of a set usa only as well .
awesome reviews, but would be cool if you could add some full view shots of the whole sets you are reviewing at the end (:
sorry, I had to film it that way as it was too big for the background. Only time though, I have a bigger background now
Superb how did i mess this well done on finding such a great copy please remember if you have it out on display to keep it way from outside light it will yellow the second floor this is an amazing item . **rates*
great review man, like the intro/ending music!
It's a great set, never saw it as a kid though.
I have one complete except the foam blocks due to them rotting over time so I replaced them.
I have this playset but I'm missing the struts can you
Tell me were I can find them
Mija Moynihan ebay
This Death Star might've been the best toy they made.
that would be great to see!
This guy's hilarious without trying to be. "And so that's the dianoga. Rather silly little thing, really".
hhmmm i thought of doing some but for now i'll stick with my tf's, but it could be something i'll do in the future if i ever run out of tf's to review? lol
Why thank you, its not bad except for the gun. I do not have any display room so everything is kept in the dark in cardboard prisons.
i remember that, disco in the trash compactor
how much did you pay i had to pay a lot for mine :(
The trash compactor looks like it could have been fun I'd have to put water in it if it didn't leak !
maybe when you get older you will have the money to spend. This one was about $100 or so but I did have to get the rope much later.
Did he say he paid 15 quid for a small piece of plastic??
12:38 Prometheus Space Jockey ?
I still have trash compactor with foam trash and dianoga monster
certainly was mate
I will try and get u the gun a friend of mine had one was selling it for 7 :P
Awesome! My Dad must be older than yours!
had to be done, finding that rope on it's own took me years
thanks mate, my old band. Don't úse it anymore, but if you want to hear more check oút my very first video
around £50 i think, just missing the rope
ha ha yes my problem too!
haha, short memory you have, you saw it 8 months ago
They could if they wanted too, but no!
