This came up in my recommended in the December of 2019 and it was the very thing that made me buy this game. I linked it to all my friends and encouraged them to do the same but they had already heard about all the bugs and thought I was wasting my money. Solid months and months of playing later and I now have the platinum trophy along with all the DLC at 100% with countless playthroughs of the game and very strong memories. Here in the UK when we have the full 7 month lockdown I really went to a weird place and if I didn't have this game to distract me through it it could have been a lot worse. The video just came in my recommended again now and my friend told me just days ago that hes started playing the game and hes loving it. I'll make sure to link it to him also. Thanks for the video!

I'm on my second playthrough on hardcore and something cool and unusual happened.
I started the duel and after two hits I accidentally headcracked him. So the duel ended instantly (but Zoul was alive!). I looted his armor before he went back on his feet and he surrendered. I felt sorry for him so I chose to let him go. He accepted to never come back but he said "other Zouls than me will come!"
I followed him and he rode to the north pass Skalitz and to the upper corner of the map.
I then reported to Radzig and told him I beaten Zoul and let him go. He was quite happy I acted honorably.
I had the same thing happen but after I looted him ...I decided to wack him just to be sure...then all those wailing women started to come after me...so I jumped on my horse and ran away like the bastard I am.

Something similar happened to me but I killed him instead. His men prayed for him and then left, after that I looted his armour lmao
Once Henry gets good at fighting, the swordplay in this game actually flows really well and is super fun. Sadly I don't think most people have the patience for that.
My Henry ran around nude with a stabby weapon the entire game, running out of the woods for a few suprising jabs and running off again
@@chickenman1801 My Henry used nothing but a longsword for the entire game, except for some stealthy clearing of bandit camps right near the beginning. I spent like an hour each session training with Captain Bernard and got really good. I slowly got better armor by looting bandits and buying armor. By the end I was a absolute unit and was regularly clearing entire Cuman camps without breaking a sweat. It's the most satisfying feeling I've ever gotten playing a game because I'd actually earned all the skills I had.

@@chickenman1801 Hey man that's the beauty of games like this. You can play literally however you want. If you wanna be a stabby skirmisher that's fine. The only things KCD could've improved on in my opinion would've been making NPCs less stiff, letting you create your own character, and smoothing out the combat animations.

This game is amazing, a single duel last 5 bloody minutes! When you are fighting your life is at the stake, the pressure of not getting killed give a sense of realism that few other games have...

@Aaron Tan storyline is great. The more you spend time exploring, the more you like it. Especially if you never reload to get a perfect result... I remember return trip to Skalitz in twilight and drizzling rain, random dark figures, died to some gang, that was something. The landscapes are epic. You are not "the Hero", that's what makes the story great.

You probably acidentaly hit him when he about to surrender, it hapen to me, i try to combo him but in the third attack he surrender, bur because im on the midle of combo i keep hitting him, he died and his man attack me lol

@@sdawg5763 no not you, the game devs 😅 I just meant they designed duels to take a really long time in the game but only have like 3 or 4 lines for npcs watching the duel.
if you have a mace 5 good knocks to the head ends the fight.... sometimes even 2... lol they were literally wearing plate armor and bashing each other with swords that do about as much damage as a wet stick to plate armor...

KCD is such a gem, man.
i picked up this game two days ago and i had my fist ambush while fast traveling. two fully armored tartars with shields and i had no head protection and Thumper (one of the worst longswords in the game-i found that out after the encounter) with a bit of back peddaling and some perfect counters i managed to beat them. up until that moment my greatest achivement was killing four bunnies with a bow (i used up 50+ arrows). what an amazing game.
Eventually you would be killing 40 rabbits with only 2 arrows ;D

Literally just got past this guy and found this in my recommended. My FBI agent is on point today.
Plot twist: The npcs were actually talking good things to the player and trash talked the player's enemy
I remember one playtrough in which I went full light armour, and this duel with Zoul was the hardest 1v1 I had. I needed an almost perfect performance, for he reacts much better than most enemies and I died many times to his counters. When you have no plates on you, it's quite easy to get injured and bleed. Still I remember it with great joy.

One thing I learned in KCD that was most important, is to not rush a fight. I used to use all my energy and try to strike them, but no, take your time and make the right coordinates moves. No other game has given me such a level of satisfaction.

Blade Hunter Yeah that’s when you draw blood, which signifies the enemy taking actual instead of stamina damage.

Honestly, with how heavily armoured they both were, they should've been both half swording and grappling each other most of the time. The sword is just a big fancy iron bar when you think about it :)
Yeah but that will be very hard to do. Dev said there are already roughly 2000 animations for each weapon (!!)...now imagine adding more moves. This is also the reason why polearms in this games looks so bad compare to the rest of the weaponry. They ran out of money and time.

@@umcaraqualquer3640 Trust me I know but they are the coolest fuckin weapons in the game. The plethera of combos the range they cant do much against plate armor but boy if you weave in those combos they hurt once you deplete an opponents stam.
@@umcaraqualquer3640 also now that Ive played the game I notice hes using one of the weaker Long swords. the Fearnot I believe. If it were a heraldic, magdeburg or the duelist sword it would have ended a bit quicker.

Thats pretty much how all Hardcore Fights look. The only thing that sometimes shows up is the HUD if you have a Questmarker active.

This is awesome and it shows some serious skill at the game, I already tried a no armour play through and I can only imagine this is probably way more difficult not being able to see the shield pop up to parry/dodge. I want to try a play through of this now.
Its actually easier to master strike and perfect block in hardcore because you pay more attention to their moves rather than the little indicator.
Played the game only with a hooded monk robe, slippers and a wooden stick. The training guy can make you invincible
XD unfortuantely they updated it since then, that no longer works and they have focused on making the duels alot longer than they use to, aswell as nerfing head cracker.
this convinced me to start a new play through with no hud and in hardcore mode.

To answer ur question, honestly its more difficult and slower pace but it makes it more interesting, ive loved the change of pace compared to the normal version

Going to Pribyslawitz is good only after you complete (amost) all available sidequests. By that time you should be skilled enough. But training with bandits and Bernard (repeatedly) will also give you many possibilities.
It is harder to do it on "Merciful"
If you want an advice, use open helmet and shield+hammer combo. Works great and while there is not too much techniques to do with it, it beats out the hell of all those plated bastards fast :D
I remember trying 10 times to kill the first "boss" with a bow because he had no helmet and I really sucked at sword fights. I also did the same to that german knight.

My fight with the first boss ended in literal seconds lmao, i just kinda... hit the guy over his bald ass head with a sword and he died because of how dumb he was.

@@grandadoboman1995 They went for realistic sound of combat, I think warhorse released a video of real life battle and armor testing, which sounded similar. But I know they faced issues with amounts of data for PS4, so they were reducing quality where possible.

I saw this video before and thinking to myself, "That's a pretty good fight, but man the mechanics are so realistic it kinda sucks." Well, banish the thought, Past Me! Because I just got the game about a week ago and binge-played it until the base game ended. Just completed it about 2 hours ago, the combat can be SO satisfying at times. But what had me the most was the trebuchet at the near end of the game. Honestly KC:D is such a good game, don't know why I've been avoiding it for so long. When the epilogue started I didn't want the game to end, felt like I could play forever, guess that means I'll be getting the DLC's, especially Band of Bastards, can't wait to duel this guy. Audentis Fortuna Iuvat!

@@ganggang3873 i realize you commented this 3 months ago but i wanted to clear up what i meant, i agreed with mr miyagi but now that ive played it more i now realize its not totally awful, its pretty gud and gucci actually but im not a huge fan of the extreme slow pacing and the constant "go here do this, but OoH nOoOO, that wasnt it, is it this??? no? oh well how about this?" that might not make sense to people who read this but i know what i mean, I get its trying to be like that and people enjoy that kind of game and theres nothing wrong with that its just way to much in my opinion, !!spoilers!!: for example that hunting mission where you have to go with lord capon and run along side him while he rides on a horse, as its not that terribly long i still dont want to have to take all that time to run to a certain checkpoint which takes like 5 minutes which still isnt that long but feels really long while just to get to the camp to talk to the bastard and wait even more after that to get all the rabbits until i cant even jog just to wait even more then give the rabbits to lord capon just to run along side his fecking horse again to hunt a boar and then he runs off so i have to go get him which is literally in my opinion the only fun part of that whole damn mission when you kill the cumans...like goddamn dude. it does have really nice ideas with the story and i like how you can do so many different things like learn how to read and how the combat works and shit so ill give it that

This made KCD look amazing. It would look even more realistic if there was ray tracing in the game.
This video makes the combat actually seem more casual than it really is. The amount of master strokes landed by the player and the amount of combos makes it seem smooth and clean.
I played Band of Bastards couple times, but always passed the speech check so Baron Kuno didnt take the bribe from Hagen so both bands attack each other in the end. I didnt know I can actually duel with Hagen head on .. wow, I should reload the save and try out different convo options and duel with all weapon types, longsword seems the most difficult :) Wonder if you can beat him with just wooden bludgeon. Zero chance I am sure :)

I dont play games but this one somehow poped up in my recommendations and those graphics completely mesmerized me, I watched whole story as gameplay and it was better then movie, guy which played it was funny but no skill in fighting at all, I knew you can get better in this game and now I see it in this video, its fucking realistic, I have no seen such realistic sword fight in game, there are many kind like Assassins creed with super funcy choreography in animations but it has nothing to do with reality, this is different, simple and it has realy strong atmosphere.

Game looks awesome in your PC. Playing it in PS4 can be a bit disappointing when you watch videos like this.
Can you fight him too if you manage to convince the mercenaries to help you? I'm guessing it would be pretty messy and not as epic.
If you convince the mercenaries to stay, then everyone fights everyone so it's up to you (and chance) whether you will end up fighting Zoul or not. Remember to loot Zoul for his armor set (probably the best armor in game) and loot all of his men because one of them has the 6000 Groschen which were meant for bribing Kuno.
If you use a heavy Warhammer with no sheild, this guy drops like a fly.

Slow mo ruins the game
I think, that there are some worst things than "slow mo" that can be fixed... :D
If Kingdom was really realistic, they should let us using and carry polearm... because historical, pole weapons were the primary weapons.
I add, swords were useless against armors (unless you hit not covered spots)

It is realistic. But, it is deformed by the time which passed since then. As the game described, almost no one was literate during medieval age. Only a few between nobility, monks, priests and a few scribes and merchants were able to read. That however means, there are no records or manuals for using weapons other than swords. Those were well documented in books, as nobles were able to purchase them. However weapons such as polearm were not for nobles, which were riding on horse, they had swords and spears, so there was no demand for expensive books. The game does not represent the horseback fights well either, which is for another reason - it is impossible to fit 2 actors on horses inside the 3D recording gear. So not only historical knowledge limits the developers, but also advances in technology.

This looks so good without slow mo effects and hud. In future I need to play KCD2 this way. I knew about Lead dev and saw this game in cca 2017 and was thinking OMG this is stupid idea without any polish and I was worried about studio. Now Lead dev is driving Bentley and I became biggest fan of this game. Fallout NW and this are best games.

I got an discount offer from Gog 2 weeks ago and bought it last weekend. So I’ve just started , but loving all about it. I’m not really much for multiplayer games so singleplayer , sandbox in a huge world suits me just fine. Hey , to each his own.

Not so realistic. A sword would make no damage against that armor. That’s why swords were rarely used on the battlefield, they would rather break or damaged than hurting the opponent. Other weapons were much more useful than swords. Swords were good against enemies without armor.
Well he did take a lot of beating, also with the pommel before he went down. That’s rather realistic. In a real fight though, they would use murder strokes and grappling.

From so much beating to the head he took, I guess it's rather blunt impact that would finally do the job in real life.

As it turns out, real fights are just about swinging swords on one another until someone will make a one small mistake and die. That's boring. Reality is boring
No, it isn't actually. Real swordfights ended very quickly, and armored fights also typically ended quickly as they would use maces and polearms, rather than longswords. HEMA for example. Most swords fights end really quickly, and there's a lot of extreme, intense stuff. Watch some HEMA duels.
Not even Sir Arthur Dayne would stand a chance against a 15th century REAL knight, because Sowrd fights in GOT may look fancy, but they are not realistic. The way those characters fight would get them killed in the real medieval period. Anyone who knows what HEMA is will think the same
