This is by far the best paultan review ive watched, extremely detailed and straight forward, no bad jokes, and sure you didn't show about off roading, but I'm sure 90% of people who buys these trucks wouldn't be driving through extreme offroading anyway.
***** True, they much more serious vehicles than SUVs. However, some who don't use it offroad do use it to carry heavy goods. Its mostly the people who buy these trucks, don't use it offroad or use the bed at all, that I struggle to understand.
***** I'm a sucker for used cars so I wouldn't mind lol. Good for ford though, always thought their rangers have been underrated, now I see plenty of them everywhere.
+Shobin Drogan 90% of the people getting these things wont do any off roading at all. The fact that every fucker out there,s getting one of these vehicle is every tradies worst nightmare.
Well if I spend money on a car that I like, I don't have to justify it. I might not take it off road but just like the look/handling. Much worse would be buying only cars that you really do need, but not necessarily like.
i own a ranger 2.2 auto for almost a year as my first car, never regret it, the noise insulation in this truck is the best, no truck clatter during idle, engine revving noise heard only during accelerating. high torque during low rpm really makes the car feel powerful. handling is great, and above all, fuel efficient during long drive, easily get 900km per 80l tank on highway. it looks good too, im glad i didnt buy a sedan car with the price(either honda city/vios) these cars are too overpriced.
+syukran seri buana The Vios and City is overprice because of the tax incentive, Ranger and others like the Hilux is consider as commercial vehicle, so the tax is lower, thus the lower price...
Hi Guys, Congrats on a really great review. I think your conclusion is a very good one and a VERY IMPORTANT ONE. Yes, the ranger is a good truck, AND IT SHOULD BE, but the pricing these companies are charging for pickup trucks these days is RIDICULOUS! This corporate greed is getting WAY out of control. I'm from Australia and the price for the Ranger Wildtrak is AUD$64,990. The more we buy these vehicles the more they will keep lifting the price. Enough is Enough I say!
Another great review. These 3 should be the frontline for every episodes. Driven is such a boredom without them. Nonetheless, can't wait for the new episode 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The best review of trucks/ cars I have seen. They speak very relevant and specific. By their discussion you can easily choose what is best pick-up truck you need. Thanks guys!
Nice show guys! I was gonna buy the Ford but I finally bought the Nissan. If you tried a manual transmission on the Ford and on the Nissan, you would not hesitate for long. Just like I did after test driving the Ranger with the manual gearbox. The Nissan's acceleration with the manual gearbox are just mind blowing for a pick-up truck ("full-sized" american V8 trucks excluded, of course). The Ranger was way too noisy when getting on the highway and the acceleration was nowhere near the Navara (thanks to its twin-turbo, probably sequential). WRT airbags, there are 7 airbags in the Navara over here in Belgium. Final verdict for me: Nissan Navara even though the Navara is more expensive here than the Ranger (!)
I test drove all three as well before deciding, and yes, best would be ford, but too expensive, I bought the Nissan navara, and I have NO regrets, it is the best, great and fair review. keep it up.
I think all of these three cars are great, but just slightly different, for different users. Personally I lime all of them, but I have Navara 2018 and I'm really glad about it. Greetings for all.
Hello from the UK Good and fair review Guy's really enjoyed it and well presented ! I own the 2.2 Ranger myself and highly rate it after owning both a Navare and a Mitsubishi albeit they were older models. The Ranger is the best by far.
Guys the video is good and well produced, but you forgot the most important factor in a pickup review, off roading and towing!!! There can not be a pickup review without them...
Ive had an NP300 for the past 5 years. It is such a reliable truck. My brothers Ranger has been in and out of the garage. I prefer the Navara over anything
In my opinion, honestly, the paddle shifter in the Triton will be a great advantage for off-road conditions. If you don't have paddle shifter option might as well better off with a manual version; because who on earth, drive a standard auto pickup truck for off-roading purposes? They've must be insane. Now the engine sound though, for me, when I drive alone I would turn off the radio and listen to the music of the engine. Such a beautiful roaring voice came out from an engine. Driving a D40 Navara SE manual is the best experience on-road and off-road but to be honest, it has the worst turning radius ever in this segment. Need a fairly large road to make a u-turn. Trucks now are way better than before in terms of drivability, but it might as well a bit of a downgrade in terms of practicallity and not really worth it for off-road. Did anyone notice the SUV segment in Malaysia? I guess almost 95% SUV sold in Malaysia have never gone off-road into the forest or even a crossover around lakes or rivers. That segment have changed so drastically I hope it will never happen to pickup trucks.
Now, after looking at past years' Driven series, 2015 REALLY marks a TRUE SENSE OF MATURITY in every aspect - MOST importantly, there is always a SOLID and REFINED ending for every episode, instead of endings which looked way too trashy and unsubstantial (e.g. 2014's C and D segment sedan reviews) - and no longer having too much beating around the bush in script styling - KUDOS! And HEY! Finally, Hafriz gets to announce the fuel consumption results for the first time in Driven videos :D :D
Hi Guys, this was a great review!!! I wonder if you could do a review on the different Nissan Navara NP300 variants. Like maybe point out major differences and key points between the different variants ranging from the 4x4 to the 4x2. I haven't been able to find many reviews on the 4x2 Nissan Navara. I think it would really help buyers make decisions on what kind of vehicle will best suite them and their budgets. Just a thought . . .
Yup. i've been using triton for 4 years now. the paddle shifter really helps when offroading. just keep the hands on the steering wheel and change the gears at your fingertip. hehe
thanks for this video. it easy to make decision from this video and others blog / forum. now i choose buy the new ford ranger 2.2xlt. small engine but 160bhp is enough to go fast and the one important thing ranger 2.2 is cheaper roadtax than others. tq paultan.
Visually Ranger is winner by far, second Nissan and last Mitsubishi. Reliability and build quality Nissan, engine can make 500 000km just with basic service. I would like to have Ranger with Nissan engine.
by far i would choose and buy the Ford ranger. for the speed, strength and looks. own a 2014 ford ranger XLT and it never disappointed me with it power speed and capability. carried 55 bags of cement in this double cab and still impress with it. waiting now to get a 2016 model. excellent work FORD
Desslar St.Rose : 55 bags of cement!!! Please inlighten me to how you managed that, because cement bags are heavy( eg 25kg or 40kg bags) unless in your country they come in 8kg bags there no way in hell that you carried 55 bags. At 25kg bags x 55 =1200+ kgs or at 40kg bags x 55 = 2200+ kgs you would have massively exceeded gross vehicle loading . The ford ranger xlt double cab max pay load is around 960kgs only surpassed by the Mazda BT50 at 1060kgs payload which is best in class. You should post a vid on UA-cam with the 55 bags onboard lol
Yes 55 bags. I live in the Caribbean n my double cab, well I really tested it limited n will by any chance pick the Ford ranger Xlt anytime. This pickup n i have being in floods, tropical storms to bonnet height, explorations, even carry 20yars of ready mix and best then it never disappointed me. That's why I want the never model.
Desslar St.Rose :it won't last long if you intentionally over loading your ute . If I was you I would invest in a trailer split your load 500-600 kgs on your ute and 1000-1200kgs on the trailer (tandem axle)
Mohammed Islam Uhmmmmm I KNOW but I wasn't talking about the Navara here, PRIDE ORANGE is the main color of the new ranger. The Wildtrak here is color white... But it has a PRIDE ORANGE variant as well... I know that the navara in this video is orange.. but like I said, the Ranger has a PRIDE ORANGE.. I'm talking about the color of the ranger variants and not the color of the ranger in this video which is clearly COOL WHITE.
I still bought the high end version of the navara even though it has 10hp less than the ranger. Why? because of the power-to-weight ratio. .The ranger may be the most powerful. but it is also the heaviest, with more than 200kg difference to that of the navara. Needles to say Its 20NM advantage is still not enough to compete the nissan in terms of extreme performance. What say you guys? is this notion right or just Bulls*#%?
Here in the land of 4WDs (Sabah) the ranger is beginning to show the major issues that's been reported elsewhere. Turbo blades blew up after 6 months otr anyone? Even the service centre guys are shaking their heads. No way you can give such high specs in the same price range without making sacrifices, unless Ford is really a more efficient and better car manufacturers then any of the Japanese makes.
Yes yes and yes... Thank you for this superb review...straight to the point, not trying to be cool.. And just go on with the review... A few punch line is nice..
Not sure if the Fords are coming out of the same factory but Ford Rangers in NZ are having huge issues. To the point the "dog and Lemon " guide have them rated terribly now. My Ranger would loose all power including engine at least once a week. Everything would turn off. I would pull up to an intersection and the whole truck would die. I would turn the key and Nothing would happen. After 4 or 5 minutes the dash lights would come on and I would be able to restart my truck. Ford could not find the issue. They kept telling me it was a fuel issue. Ridiculous. Seems this happens to many of the rangers. I Have now sold mine before the warranty ran out. Now I hear they also have serious issues with the four wheel drive system and many are having a complete engine melt downs with engine rebuilds or replacements needed. I will never buy another Ford Ranger. Complete lemon.
Should have taken them off road chaps for some 4x4 stuff. That's what they are meant for. Also, consider load space and weight load capacity when driving - too important to be ignored. Maybe a full shootout when the hilux is launched, as well as the Amarok and maybe Isuzu. Love your production value and general feel for the show. Could do with a better show logo upfront though. I have just purchased the 2.2 4X4 xl ford ranger in South Africa. Very underwhelming in the power department but amazing electronic power steering. Keep up the good work, and next time don't be afraid to get the vehicles dirty.
i have the D40 navara SE (that's a manual). I rarely use the truck bed nor do i go off-road. i simply do not understand the jeers to urbanites who drive trucks be it navara, hilux or whatever. I see many that do that in Australia and the US. some like a taller drive and much secure ride on the terrible roads in the city but may not wish to take out a huge payload from their wallet for an SUV. also, trucks are hard to drive and demands are not high so car-theft is not so common (save for hilux). it's not that expensive to maintain and long-distance drive is a breeze (especially the manual ones). but yeah, one of the few good videos from paultan
The Wildtrak is the top variant of Rangers, which is specialized for heavy package and rough tracks. I think Ford outcomes Mitsubishi and Nissan in off road experience.
you guys should try navara 2.3 dci 190 ps it has a superb low rpm torque and it supports the slow 7 speed transmission so well that it averages around 8l/100 km fuel consumption in real life.
How bout each pickup's after sales price? Many say that Ford cost more during PMS, that would be another good consideration in purchasing any vehicle, I hope you can make a video out of it!
Ford ranger really touch my heart, but I heard the ranger got a lot issue. Some say 2.2 got problem and 3.2 is ok. Not sure the new ranger got any improvement or the issue already settled?
Ford is the world first invention car but Mitsubishi also the first japanese manufacturing company car and heavy industry of Japan, and Mitsubishi is the best rally racing championship since 1940 , Colt, lancer, galant, starion, pajero, Mitsubishi is the perfect japanese car ever
This ranking is applicable if you want to use the pickup on-road. If you use off-road, the Hilux might stand a chance. It more robust than the Triton. Its interior is far from good looking, but it's practical. When you do dirty jobs, you get in your car, would you want to operate the touch screen with your dirty hands?
South Texas Bass Fishing and are not fuel efficient and they won't be getting 9-10L/100km in diesel trim thats 2.5US gallons/ 62 miles sorry just gas guzzling dinosaurs .
To be honest, Ford's the most high tech here and I would really get it if not because of the lack of keyless entry. After looking through all the newest models, I still love my Chevy Colorado the best.
+Bong Jensen Keyless entry just another expensive problem to fix. I wish the average person was banned from buying them at least then they would be designed with tradies in mind. i,d forgo most of this comfort shit for a good seat 2 coffee cups and a solid build that could take a beating.
yeah good review. hate all the trucks though. triton is just ugly. i wouldn't go home with it even drunk. the navara used to look so tough but they copied the side moulding of the mazda.. which is also very ugly. the bonnet also looks ugly. headlights and spoiler is the only good thing on it. the ranger is nice but I can't get past that ridiculous bump on the front end. it's like an afterthought. and all these trucks fail to integrate the rear bumper well like the American trucks do. all the rear bumpers look like a bad slap on mod.
All gimmick like most the electronic shite you get these days, give me 2 drink holders , comfy seats , airbags and a decent stereo and thats all you need really!
Good script and act this time. Nothing sounds awkward and a mature conclusion handed. Doesn't really educate ignorant Malaysians who bought these vehicles as a daily drive around town though.
This is by far the best paultan review ive watched, extremely detailed and straight forward, no bad jokes, and sure you didn't show about off roading, but I'm sure 90% of people who buys these trucks wouldn't be driving through extreme offroading anyway.

no fault light, it has been 8 months
it's my first time to see this guys reviewing a pick up truck and i love these guys. thanks a lot. your show is a big help for me.
-Philippines
This is one of the best vehicle reviews I've ever seen - and I've seen thousands. You guys are genuinely really talented.
Hi Guys, Congrats on a really great review. I think your conclusion is a very good one and a VERY IMPORTANT ONE. Yes, the ranger is a good truck, AND IT SHOULD BE, but the pricing these companies are charging for pickup trucks these days is RIDICULOUS!

the music in the first half of the video is quite annoying... but glad to see you guys back!

The nicest pickup comparison I've seen :) Well done guys

Can't wait to watch your latest comparison of Ford Ranger 2.2, Isuzu D-Max 2.5, Triton 2.5 and the Hilux 2.4 in your latest driven video.
I really love your revieuw it's the best seen so far Thanks
good to see u 3 back ..keep it up..Ford fiesta review pls
one of the best reviews. welldone guys
Oh yes!!! I am featured on this episode of Driven 0:12
the range will be ideal for offroad work. notice nowadays the leaf springs are arranged above the axle. very good for plantation use

I cant wait for the 2017 nissan navare thank you nissan your my number one truck
Very . . . . well presented guys.. Looking forward to your 2016 driven episodes.. CHEERS! (Filipino)
Nice review. Wish you had newer engines in Malaysia for those trucks..
ranger is the best looking one, especially on the pride orange color.
The ranger isn't orange the Navara is right?

disregard my last comment, found your explanation 😂
32r6
why lemon
Ford are having massive issues with the Ford Ranger
Stopthegreed buy a Mazda BT50 they seem to have far less problems and are 10k cheaper and a better looking ute
Nissan Navara!
Very underwhelming in the power department but amazing electronic power steering. verry good job guys I really enjoyed this comparison
Do a video about Malaysia's 2nd hand markets budget and executive =)
The best looking one is the ranger
A very nice review from you guys!
I had the mind for Mitsubishi L200 but you made me rethink
i have the D40 navara SE (that's a manual).
More practicality goes to Triron (Strada), performane 9 stars, design 8 stars, handling 9 stars, comfort 8 stars and money value 9 stars.
The Wildtrak is the top variant of Rangers, which is specialized for heavy package and rough tracks. I think Ford outcomes Mitsubishi and Nissan in off road experience.
the arial videography is very nice!
*aerial
bought 2 months ago in the Philippines 2.5 AT 4x2 Nissan Navara entry level , smooth ride but would like to have electronic steering
ok nmn ang performnce boss?
Showing some offroad scenes, gettin excited, then potong stim at the end.
not a fan of pick-up truck but it's kinda look awesome.
nice video by the way.
you guys should try navara 2.3 dci 190 ps it has a superb low rpm torque and it supports the slow 7 speed transmission so well that it averages around 8l/100 km fuel consumption in real life.
Good job guys, enjoyed it!
yes Jonathan :)
racing , come to Sabah to see yourself :) pickup are use for racing :)
ha3...betul tu boss...dia belum nampak lagi...
How bout each pickup's after sales price? Many say that Ford cost more during PMS, that would be another good consideration in purchasing any vehicle, I hope you can make a video out of it!
Finally Harv and hafriz is back . Loooooooovvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee the intro song
Mitsubishi can make jet aircraft fighter and jet commercial aircraft, the first oldest japanese manufacturer
Any chance of having a review about SUVs like the Isuzu MU-X and other car brand?
How bout another battle between the pickup trucks? This time with the new Toyota Hilux.. can't wait
Ford ranger really touch my heart, but I heard the ranger got a lot issue. Some say 2.2 got problem and 3.2 is ok. Not sure the new ranger got any improvement or the issue already settled?
They all look so close to each other who has the original design
man was hoping to see some off-roading
they did!
i dont really consider driving on sand and gravel off-roading, was hoping for some steep hills, rocky surface etc
boy638 to much risk to get a scratches or even worst, they only borrowed the trucks for review, they didn't own them.
+boy638 same here..overseas truck reviewer always put the car to the limit
+boy638 Same here - I can see regular driving anytime. It's those off-road comparisons that really show a truck's worth :)
interesting to know that Malaysia does have 2.4D engine for the Triton yet. huge difference
I wish those models were available here in the US.
"Which one should you put your money on?" The answer is always the Ford Ranger Wildtrak!
Is Nissan Navara Np300 2016 spare parts hard to find in Malaysia?
navara is the prettest and the best
Fun video. Good job guys!
Ford is the world first invention car but Mitsubishi also the first japanese manufacturing company car and heavy industry of Japan, and Mitsubishi is the best rally racing championship since 1940 , Colt, lancer, galant, starion, pajero, Mitsubishi is the perfect japanese car ever
navara the beast!!!
Wth dude navara is the worst it cannot carry heavy objects 😂😂😂
Great and awesome review!
Honest review! 👍👍👍
Please do the Ranger VS New Hilux review, I believe it will be top rating video.
I hope you can put malay subtitle. Btw this video is awesome. 👍👍👍👍👍
Dari segi pemanduan yg mna lg best?
This ranking is applicable if you want to use the pickup on-road. If you use off-road, the Hilux might stand a chance. It more robust than the Triton. Its interior is far from good looking, but it's practical. When you do dirty jobs, you get in your car, would you want to operate the touch screen with your dirty hands?
you guys should see the trucks in America. they're larger, even more luxurious and are really worth the money.
South Texas Bass Fishing and are not fuel efficient and they won't be getting 9-10L/100km in diesel trim thats 2.5US gallons/ 62 miles sorry just gas guzzling dinosaurs .
yes , we have narrow roads in most countries is Southeast Asia
Not everyone wants a giant truck to buy groceries in.
😂😂😂😂 good one
nice! please review the Everest-Fortuner-Trailblazer-andMonteroSport
Very nice comparison.
Acceleration test please! 😀 Navara VL vs Ford 3.2 XLT vs Triton..
Triton VGT 👍
johanthan just keeps on going from ridiculous haircuts to ridiculous haircuts
+Jyunkai lol
To be honest, Ford's the most high tech here and I would really get it if not because of the lack of keyless entry. After looking through all the newest models, I still love my Chevy Colorado the best.
+Bong Jensen Keyless entry just another expensive problem to fix. I wish the average person was banned from buying them at least then they would be designed with tradies in mind. i,d forgo most of this comfort shit for a good seat 2 coffee cups and a solid build that could take a beating.
yeah good review.
hate all the trucks though.
triton is just ugly. i wouldn't go home with it even drunk.
the navara used to look so tough but they copied the side moulding of the mazda.. which is also very ugly. the bonnet also looks ugly. headlights and spoiler is the only good thing on it.
the ranger is nice but I can't get past that ridiculous bump on the front end. it's like an afterthought.
and all these trucks fail to integrate the rear bumper well like the American trucks do.
all the rear bumpers look like a bad slap on mod.
maybe keyless not practical for work horse use. for example in the plantation? muddy, oily, dirty hands on dashboard
keyless entry is not yet safe and practical to use, it's between gimmicky and useful.
All gimmick like most the electronic shite you get these days, give me 2 drink holders , comfy seats , airbags and a decent stereo and thats all you need really!
nice style of review!
I wonder where is this place towards the end of the video ....
I like the design and the body of the nissan navara
Sadly the class leader's latest model havent arrived yet in Malaysia..
The Toyota Hilux
it may have given a serious fight among others
when you gonna have review on new hilux revo?
great review
Oh I forgot the navara and triton almost the same headlight but the navara headlight has the spotlight the triton doesn't have spotlight.
which cars win when driving offroad?
Good script and act this time. Nothing sounds awkward and a mature conclusion handed. Doesn't really educate ignorant Malaysians who bought these vehicles as a daily drive around town though.
+Darren Loke You meant Australians didnt you?
Excellent review.
why is it that the ranger is without keyless entry? but you have remote to unlock the doors
