people don't buy trucks for their infotainment system. it's for work 90% of the time. as long as it hauls stuff and there's room, that's what's important. and one of the biggest selling points of the Frontier (Navara in Europe) is that it's a simple, straightforward, midsize truck - no bells and whistles.
Bingo. I intentionally bought the barebones Xterra (I'm in the US) because I don't care for an "infotainment" system. And if I want to buy a better one, any auto audio shop can sell you an aftermarket one much better than the automaker for a third of the price. People buy trucks (Utes? Buckys?) For work/trails. More gizmos = more stuff that will break. If someone wants creature comforts, then get a luxury sedan.
In the meantime the little problems have been solved on the Nissan, since they were already launched in 2015 elsewhere. This one is a 2017 which was one of the first. I rate it one of the best around, pity the sales. I pay less insurance though and this is a premium product.
I have a 2018 Nissan Navara 2.3L 4 cylinder twin turbo SL with 265 tyres upgrade and my wife have a 2018 Ford Everest 3.2L 5 cylinder turbo (ranger wagon) My cars probably a little faster but my wife’s ford is sooooo comfortable, her interior is better and you can really feel the torque down low, the problem is the that when you feel the torque down low soon after the power seem to Plato, my Nissan Navara SL has twin turbos with little to no lag so when your up it I don’t feel the power Plato until redline. I had the option to get a Ranger XLS, Triton BT-50 and Hilux when I started my job but I wish I went for the ranger. There too comfortable and roomy as well as powerful. Never taken either car off road so I can’t offer an opinion on either cars capability.
I added airbag suspension to navara to improve on road comfort specially when loaded. It will improve way better like it has no load even loaded with 800kg. The cause of the bounce in navara is its coil spring. the stopper is touching the other part. i dunno what it was called. but after putting airbag man the suspension was improved.
WHY? WHY? WHY? Please somebody tell me WHY every review of 4wd ute's (bakkie's) is done by city dwellers with no idea whatsoever of what is important in such a vehicle. Practically every review online is prefaced by some urban muppet almost apologising for his lack of knowledge/exposure/affinity/expertise with these vehicles. We then get the standard useless tests such as a half load driven down a flat track, followed by the rest of the review concentrating on the bloody interior. Are you guys serious? Do or have any of you ever owned such a vehicle? Do you not know anyone at all that you could have asked to help you with some meaningful content for buyers interested in these vehicles? Do you really think a 'slightly' dated interior is what is important? What about wheel travel? Ramp over angle? Wading depth? Payload? Tray width? Service intervals? How low is the low ratio? Is there room for a second battery? Are there tie down points in the tray?

These two trucks are up against some serious competition when they arrive in the Americas. Tacoma, Ridgeline, Colorado and Canyon. I'm going to gave a lit to choose from in another couple of years. Though, I'll probably not be visiting the Ford dealer.
Yeah, I seriously want to see how the Navara stacks up to the Tacoma. I wonder if US will do what Mexico does and sell both the Frontier AND Navara. Truth be told, even though the US frontier is unchanged for 14 years (2004-2018) it STILL is 95% as capable as the Tacoma for about 80% the cost. And more reliable, as they've had a decade and a half of improving the same design. In the time Tacoma has had three models, Frontier has had one, and it still hangs with it, without difficulty. Imagine if Nissan actually tried to compete instead of recycling the same Frontier.
navara is cheaper than ranger and colorado. competes with exterior and interior aesthetics but loses in its infotainment system but hey you can change that right? also navara is beaten when it comes to heavy loading but if you dont find yourself needing to put heavy loads all the time, navara is great value for your money.
@@caenalphy3418 Agreed, they're the American Kia, in that they made some sub par products a few decades ago, but they make great products now and people are starting to realize that.
