  • We venture into a dry lagoon bed to look for the most remote locality of cacti in the genus Lophophora: koehresii. And we visit a new species of Ariocarpus for the channel: hintonii. Join us on this desert expedition as we try to find and document all 1800+ species of cacti in the world in hopes that if you fall in love with them and their ecosystems, you will fight to protect them!

    I really enjoyed taking this trip with you, Manuel. A miserable, dusty road, many hours away from the nearest "somewhere", the hot desert sun beating down relentlessly.. *but your enthusiasm is contagious!* 😃 It was all worth it for sure.. I was overjoyed to see Koehresii in their natural habitat! 🌵💚 Thank you for doing all you do for conservation..

      I’m glad you liked this one!! It was a real challenge to battle the sun but worth it in the end like all good adventures 💚🌵 Thanks for coming along!

    Thanks so much for all the effort you put into bringing these cactus habitats closer to people who can't visit them.
    I'm currently growing a couple of koehresii seedlings and it's awesome to see those rare specimen in their habitat.

    Digging your habitat videos. Would love to see some wild Eriosyce down in Chile. You'll notice there isn't much UA-cam content on that genus, but they're just as pretty as Copiapoa if you ask me. Small and cryptic too so you'll get lots of videos while you search lol

      Thank you! I did see many species of those beauties while I was down in Chile and I’ll be sharing those videos soon. I just want to grow this channel a bit more before I release them because the first ones I’ve posted only got a few views and the trip down to Chile deserves more attention in my opinion 😅 Thanks for watching!

    What you do is truly amazing! The video is very informative and educative.
    As a cacti grower living in Asia, it’s really nice to see where these beautiful plants are from, how they grow in the surroundings.
    The most part that I love about your video is the attitude you shown. Full of passion and care. The shots you took are great. They’re full of details with no rush.
    Please keep it up and thank you. Your channel is my favorite lately!

    Thank you so much for every your video. The epiphytic cacti on a tree was amazing, do you meet any other epiphytic plants on your way to cacti habitat? Tillandsia, orchids? It would be very interesting if you do just a few snaps of them 😅
    My cacti are sleeping now and waiting for spring...🎉

    Have you ever thought about growing the rarer cacti and planting them where humans won't inhabit? I know you'd need thousands of plants but adding to instead of taking from would be better than nothing. :)

    • @RareCactus
      @RareCactus  10 місяців тому +4

      Oh yes I agree, but my plan is to buy land with cacti already on it, fence it and hire armed guards. It’s the only way to make sure greedy monkeys stay out 😅

      @@RareCactus I'll need to look for seeds over here and see what I can find. Was it you that told us that some Italians had to return a cargo of cacti to Mexico? No matter, it happened anyway. :D
