I just gotta say, having Omega on screen when "he walked in universes where the laws of physics were designed by a mad man". Because, of course, that is exactly what he was referencing. The Three Doctors was one of the best ever multi-Doctor episodes.
The strongest reason this speech is so impactful is because the sheer weight of the show's history is one of its legendary qualities. Since the audio dramas are also often accepted as canon so long as a Doctor actor portrays them, it is likely that every single thing he mentions here has a literal reference point in the lore. With the Pandorica, the universe DID freeze, to stone. At the end of the Time War, creations DID burn. The things seen that 'you wouldn't believe' are usually the show's greatest moments. Thus, while the speech sounds awesome, it's all based on actually told tales, nevermind the untold ones. The vastness of DW literally staggers, by this point.
Pretty much. The audio dramas were made canon with the Night of the Doctor, just before Eight Regenerates; he toasts and salutes all the companions he's known there, so yeah, that's a great point.
I really feel for the Doctor. I don't think anyone could really understand the entirety of that speech, of how he spoke of loss and love, pain and suffering, victory and defeat, as he recalled all of his lives and memories. He is an old man, who's suffered more than any one being over could have or should have. Around others he's happy and youthful, but when he's alone, he drops the facade. He leaves it all out there, and Matt did an incredible job with the emotion and time of the speech. Makes me cry everytime.
Thank you for this. Each line in this speech can refer to almost any Doctor, he has been through so much, so much pain and loss, but he has seen so much joy and love.
@@carmillaatemycat6517 although the rest of the video is perfect. Especially the timing. Like when the 4th doctor asks do I have the right and the part comes "and let the cloak of life" and when the Timelords say "we have noted your particular interests in the planet earth" the music starts. Perfect Timing. When I watch the original scene and that part comes I always have to say "we have noted your particular interests in the planet earth".
The one thing I’d add is that when he says “no time, no space, just me” he could be referring to his future when he is with Lady Me at the end of the universe, but a wonderful video, and shed a tear at 2:52
I dunno why... but how you saved the freeze of Gallifrey until the end made me tear up. It's such a great moment obviously, and saving to the end gave great justice to its importantance.
Seeing all them memories from doctors from series and episodes and growing up watching doctor who everyday as a kid really gave me chills and listening to that speech aswell
You know the more I think about it the more I feel like deep down the doctor didn’t really have a plan here and that he honestly was partially hoping that the sun would be able to consume all of his memories or at the very least I think that with his mentality he looked at it as a win win either way
It’s surprising how often the doctors plan to stop the bad guy is just a veiled half hope that they’ll finally end his endless journey through existence.
Why do I feel like the doctor was talking to himself and his grievances of his long life and calling himself a parasite because he outlives all these people and he feels like he feeds of there joy and takes there lives away and feels responsible for all there deaths...man that is so sad
The doctor himself admitted that the only reason he has human companions is so that he can see the fascination of the universe again cause he's so old,he can't even feel the joy of doing what he loved anymore without someone else admiring it
This whole thing is beautiful. I adore this speech and it speaks volumes to me and I almost tear up hearing it. Smith was so good in this and always and I just miss him. And I love the Omega reference also
Best of the doctor in the best doctor speech in my opinion and shows why i love matt Smith as a doctor is down to the emotional impact this speech has on me
0:55 that scene is very good and 100% deserves to be in this flashback however sense the 11th doctor is speaking I don’t like the fact that there is a clip of a doctor after him in this flashback.
I absolutely love this edit, I really want this in the official episode because it makes the scene that much more powerful. The problem with writers these days is they want every season to be a full reset to get new viewers, they completely ignore the new fans that happily watch the entire 60 years worth of the show. Come on writers, Dr. Who doesn’t have fillers (at least not before the end of Capaldi’s run) like anime have where you have to follow a guide on which seasons are safe to skip!
It's not from an episode, I'm afraid. If I'm remembering correctly, its from a trailer for the Day of the Doctor. It's been a few years since I made this now, though, so I might be wrong
Y'know, in a way when Pope Benedict said The Doctor is "more in need of confession than any man breathing" (Mentioned in Extremis. The episode with The Veritas), he'd already done a sort of confession here And yeah. The Doctor was right. A full confession would take too much time.
I'm still sad that they added the leaf part, as I understand the symbolism of Clara being important, but it shouldn't overshadow the lifetimes of emotions the doctor went through...
This speech really helped and is still with making a character of mine dump all of his trauma of lovecraftian and incomprehensible horrors onto a random character.
@Mr7Reality well the random character now is one of my higher beings, so they just looked at the trauma character and basically said "damn dude that sucks"
In my personal opinion the last great doctor was Peter Capaldi in the last great head writer of Doctor Who was Steven Moffat. I don't hate Jodie Whittaker she is a very Talent actress she has done well in a lot of other stuff. But I just don't like her doctor. And I absolutely hate Chris chibnalls era. In my opinion I consider him as the man who killed Dr Who because he deliberately made William Hartnell not the first doctor and deliberately decided that the doctor wasn't born on Gallifrey which pissed me off. I was so happy when I heard Russell t Davis was returning meaning Chris chibnall was no longer the head writer and I think it should stay that way.
I feel very sorry for Jodie, because I think she has proven to be a phenomenal actress in everything else I've seen her in, but she was really let down by Chibnall's writing. I can't stand the "Timeless Child" plot. Very excited that Russell is coming back. I hope that Jodie gets some quality stories from Big Finish, somewhere down the line, so we can see her shine as the Doctor, with competent writing.
I just gotta say, having Omega on screen when "he walked in universes where the laws of physics were designed by a mad man". Because, of course, that is exactly what he was referencing. The Three Doctors was one of the best ever multi-Doctor episodes.
I'm glad someone picked up on that reference! :D
He was probably also referring to himself(The Dream Lord). Universes. Plural

I love how much 9 is in this. He probably feels the most regret,
9's season is easily my favourite. Not a single bad episode in it

Just realized Akhaten is what happens if the Doctor goes off the deep end
Oh my god, I never noticed this before. At 2:50 Matt cries. That is amazing
Honestly one of my favorite parts of his speech. He emotes more than any other doctor. Even more so than capaldis zygon inversion speech I think
Absolutely stunning! The timing is so perfect, lowkey getting a little teary eyed.
Thank you very much! I'm so glad that you liked it! :D
Really great but I think you should have included Amy's death when he says I have lost things you wouldn't belive because he is referring to that

The Doctor has lost a lot of people. Ones who were just as close as Amy. I just imagine him thinking of Susan, Adria, Jamie, Amy, Donna, Rose etc

Best doctor who speech

Yes

one of my favourite monologues. Matt Smith does "old man in the body of a young man" so well
Great idea for a video and really anyone could easily think of all of Doctor Who in Smith’s speech here.

When you realise that one scene with 12 is actually a memory of 1 because 1 was with 12 at the time; meaning all of these are flashbacks
I got shivers
This is it right here... This is Doctor Who, this editing was, well Fantastic! ❤️
I always wonder if the people watching can hear what he's saying
They say lost Memories become Songs and Stories.
If only This were True! What a Story!
