Freddie Marsden (drums), Gerry Marsden (vocal and guitar)
and Les Chadwick (bass) are all deceased 😢😢😢😢

I grew up listening to Gerry. In my opinion, they were the best band of the sixties.

I have seen this gentleman many times in Australia and have been fan of his music since 10 years old ...Thanx for sharing this footage wth us ..That's the annual musical express reward concert and I believe this is 1964. one..All those Liverpool bands developed by 1964. their distinctive sounds but just a year or two earlier average European would see them all as " some kind of Beatle" ...Gerry was the first one to use strings and orchestra to enhance his ballad arrangements ...He did it before Beatles and him and his band were great group in their own right...very dreamy but in a solid British way..

      I absolutely agree.
      Lovely scouse accent, incomparable.
By the way, bassist Les Chadwick moved to Australia in the early 1970s.

Love this Footage so much, His voice is so loud, How on earth did they get it
to sound so good, Especially with crappy Vox, they were only 30 WATTS.
That's why the Beatles couldn't hear themselves on stage cause of all the
screaming, But even so, there voices weren't as loud as Gerry's, Love the
Energy in Im'e the one It's fab, Im'e the one Who, Hello, Hi. It's great, And
the Don't let the sun Is WAW It sounds Massive, And it don't Even have the
Strings in it like the record does, But it sounds So full and big. Great video
    My friend,

Vox amps aren't crappy, one of the best out there. Any guitarist will tell you that.
Don't forget pop music was still in its infancy at this time, and the high-tech powerful PA systems weren't invented.
It's thanks to the Beatles who toured and played arenas and stadiums in the US that the sound systems were developed into what we have today.

Great singer and group that wrote some gems like Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying and Ferry Cross the Mersey. Gerry, at his best, was a sweetly soulful vocalist who could relly move you emotionally. Listen to their version of the classic "Summertime" !
