Brook, I used to live in Worcester Massachusetts in the 1970s. I met a woman there who told me that she had been in a severe tornado there and her house was destroyed. She said lost she lots of stuff. She also got a package sent back to her from near Boston. In it was her picture album which was in a box in her Bedroom before the tornado. Crazy how far it went. And that she got it back. :-)
My mom would blow on the cut or scrape she put Mercurechrome on to stop it from burning. She also used to make it into a daisy or a smile or a fish. Anything to make it cover the sore while she blew on it to stop the burning. This was 60 yrs ago. I always had a scraped knee, I was active!!!
It’s interesting what you said about the oven broiler bags. I had a Quaker parrot named Kiwi for 20 years. I had to let a friend take care of him for me because I had to stay with friends who didn’t want him in their house. She kept all her birds in the kitchen. One day she called Me at 5 am and told me she had found him at the bottom of the cage. Not dead, but she knew he wasn’t right. She got in her car and headed for work but ended up turning around and getting out, laying him down on her bed where she laid next to Him and loved on him until he passed. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend for that situation. I don’t think anything happened with her other birds but now y’all got me thinkin….. Thanx for the knowledge
I arrived too late for the live but enjoyed watching it later... and seeing all the wonderful menu plans everyone shared. My husband has become wheelchair bound since last year and none of our relatives have homes we can access, so we will be staying at home. I'm hoping to pick up a Jennie-O turkey loaf tomorrow at the store. We have liked it in the past and it has had both white and dark meat and gravy. We don't like turkey white meat and we can't find any store that sells legs or hindquarters. It will be a simple meal but we will eat it on our good dishes in our dinningroom, a change from our kitchen table.
Our grocery store sells legs & wings. Or breasts only or whole fresh or frozen turkeys for Thanksgiving. Normally they don't have fresh turkeys but we do all the rest.
Ah it seems like someone could help your husband in and out of the house in his wheelchair. But you know sometimes being at home in peace and quiet is a blessing. I am a single empty nester and I love my peace and quiet. I have learned food is a secondary thing. I can talk to God and be thankful without any interruptions on a daily basis. No momma, momma, momma 🤣. I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving. There is always something to be thankful for. God Bless.
The Mercurochrome conversation was hilarious. Nice stories when you and Brooke reminisce. Mr. Smith is a wordsmith. The actress in the Hitchcock film, "The Birds" was Tipi Hedren...she did a good job. Moody and Joe love that yellow pole brush!
Brooke, our family is having ham, pork & beef rice dressing, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs, green bean casserole and mayonnaise cake for dessert.
I'm watching your live and the talk about mercuricrome. They have it on Amazon. Minus the mercury. I look on Amazon for everything nowadays. I will never forget having mercuricrome put on my wounds. Love your channel!
Can't wait to see Moody's big surprise. He is so wonderful and makes me laugh every time. He is such a doofus... but lovable. Happy forever home Moody! You have the perfect home and family. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!🍁🌿🍂
We're from Louisiana but have been in NC since late 80s. When we don't travel home for the holidays, we started our own tradition of having gumbo and/or potato salad or deviled eggs. Happy Thanksgiving, y'all 💓
I appreciate you putting it out there about the oven bags and the danger it is to inside birds. I had no idea about that. A few Christmas’s ago I used a oven bag cooking a Turkey and within hours our parakeet passed. 😢 My daughter was devastated and every Christmas she brings it up.
I can't wait to see the video tomorrow, I just love MooMan so much. I laughed so hard when I saw him with the bars around his neck and his face was priceless. You both make me laugh on these lives, it just brightens my day. Brooke, your smile would brighten any ones day, when you smile it's like the sun is shining. Have a blessed Thanksgiving everyone. 🥰🥰🥰
Eggnog! Aww Jason, Gidget was looking at you with so much love there for a minute, you looked at her but didn't pay her no mind. Poor Gidget. Mercurochrome doesn't burn but the Merthiolate does.
Jason, it sounds like it was me that had the question about having problem when was the cart at to check out and yes LuLu emailed me the answer and I ordered my calendar. Thank you. Can't wait to get it.
Thank you for your authoritative definition of toboggan. My Texan son married a sweet girl from the Pacific Northwest. They razz him mercilessly for wearing a sled on his head. Now it’s settled. Love and happy holidays to y’all.
I've had a cockatiel for 4 yrs and I use oven bags. Haven't had a problem. But I bake my turkey no higher than 350 over night. I think it's high temps that matter.
Research that $10 dollar bill first!! It HAS A BLUE STAMP on it instead of a green stamp! 👍🏻💠 (at least it looked blue to me on my small screen) I'm also confused about your manicotti ingredients. First you said onion & chive sour cream. Then later you said cream cheese. Which one is it? I would imagine its cream cheese but hey, ya never know! Lol! Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for you sharing your lives with us! You certainly spread sunshine to many of us Cog Hill Family folk!!! 🌞💞 👍🏻
Thank you for explaining your closed captioning situation. I usually have trouble with accents, but for some reason, I can understand you just fine. I'm from So. California and I have a Mom from England. So proper speech is what I can hear on video/movies without closed captioning. But like I said, I can hear and understand you perfectly. Go figure!?!
The southern accent has its roots in the English spoken by the Scots Irish who originally settled in the southern states in the early 18th century. In fact, in some of the more remote parts of Appalachia, people still speak a version of English that is more similar to the original Scots Irish dialect than modern American English. You having a mom who is British might be the reason why the southern accent is familiar to you.
We love Schnauzers in our family too. We have two right now ( one white & one black). In total, we have had five so far and all are full fledged lap dogs! They all love to snuggle with their people. 💕
Hickory Smoked turkey Sweet potatoes roasted - no sugars just butter Roasted Brussels sprouts and steamed broccoli Homemade gravy over everything Home made rolls Homemade apple pie and vanilla ice cream Simple but our favorites 💘
I watched a video where the farmer gave his steer a 55 gal blue barrel to play with. The steer had a great time with it. Also for anchors for the hay ring. I took rebar and bent it into an anchor to hold down one of my first portable greenhouse. Just make a hook with them and hammer them into the ground. They worked great. We have a lot of high winds in my area. Just a thought.
my mom used to do a large turkey (7 children) in the oven with herb/ bread stuffing with raisins .. yumm... and sides of mashed potatoes, green bean caserole, and candied carrots with homemade cranberry/orange relish. Mom always made homemade blueberry and apple pies too.. yummmmm ! and egg nog with nutmeg !! so good :)
@@denisewilson8367 I found one, but I won't make it until Wednesday: cook 1 C sugar and 1 C orange juice until dissolved. Add 12 oz bag fresh cranberries (rinsed). Simmer 12- 15 minutes.
Catching the replay on Monday morning. I found an entire wallet complete with drivers license, credit cards, cash and such in one of my pastures about a week after a tornado hit the small town of Sweetwater, Texas long ago. That vast tornado hit a truck stop on the edge of town. I was able to track down the owner. Thankfully he was uninjured. He was a truck driver who had taken shelter in the walk-in cooler at the truck stop along with a bunch of other folks. His wallet was in his semi, which was totaled by the storm. For months we found all kinds of things littering the ground, like photos and random book pages. My neighbor (who was much closer to the truck stop) found a whole Bible and a part of a Mother Mary dashboard statue! I missed your livestream because of going out in the sleet to button up coops and hoophouse. We weren't expecting sleet, nor even much rain. Y'all stay warm. Try not to sweat when it gets real cold. Just peel off some layers little at a time as you work and get warmed up. Moody and the hay ring thing cracks me up! I had milking shorthorns way back, and a couple of them were always messing with the hay rings. I ended up cementing posts into the ground to chain the rings down. Mine were metal (didn't have the poly rings back then) and they lasted me over a decade before I sold that property and sold them at auction. We didn't get enough wet weather (west Texas) to have them rust much. Not sure if that would work for y'all, but it did work for me. Only issue was having to spread out the waste hay that collects around the rings. That wasn't much of a chore with the tractor and only needed doing every month or three. I make something that has been a big hit with friends and family on the holidays. Not to get real political, but I call it Trump Salad because I came up with the idea during the last Presidential election and the name just seemed to fit. It's sort of a cross between Watergate salad and Ambrosia salad. Hubs loves pineapple and whipped cream, so he's all about it. I coat my pecans and slivered almonds in butter and cinnamon with brown sugar before toasting, add those to the mix after they cool and get a little candied. Pineapple (tidbits or crushed) from a can (fresh pineapple won't work), sliced grapes and stewed/drained sweet cherries, diced up fresh apples and nectarines and/or mandarin oranges, diced pears that were marinated in sweet vermouth or port, fresh-made whipped sweet cream with a pinch of nutmeg and spiced rum, and a box of the pistachio pudding. I'm probably forgetting something. It won't keep long after you mix it all up, but it sure seems to get eaten fast!
@coghill farm hey Brooke just wanted to give you another manicotti idea..I take my meatball mixture and add a bit of mozzarella in it then stuff my noodles with that instead of the cheese, then poor my sauce on top and and more mozzarella on top off that, bake at 350° for 45 minutes to and hour. Then enjoy. It's all freezable after cooked and to reheat in a microwave or even frying pan instead of the oven, but I simply add a bit of water to it then reheat it and it taste freshly made.
Thanks for always making me smile! Just like sitting around having coffee! Thanksgiving dinner will be turkey, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, scalloped corn casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy and cranberry sauce! Yummy. Favorite dinner of the year!
Hey, Y'all. I have a great idea for some of that spiced rum. Get a good fruitcake recipe---wait, now, hear me out---and substitute dried apricots, dried cherries, dried pineapple, and golden raisins for that nasty neon "fruit" that's in regular yucky fruitcake (definitely include nuts!). You'll soak the fruit in the spiced rum. Then after it's baked, you spray it down with the rum, and do so each day for two days. Then the longer it sits, the better it gets. If it starts to get dry, spray it a little more fir the rum. It is SO GOOD, Y'all. My late husband, who liked the regular yucky fruitcake, would never touch it again after eating mine with the real fruit. You gotta try it, and use your yummy rum! --Kelly
I also add figs cut up, and dates cut up, and dried apples…I don’t care much for raisins, but a small amount with the dates and figs and lots of nuts. A mix of unsalted nuts pecans, walnuts, etc. they are in the snack nut area.
My mother-in-law used to make us rum cake wrapped up in cheesecloth soaked in rum and then wax paper, cellophane, and foil to keep it from leaking but hers took a few days to soak up the rum. Oh my, it was the best ever. Bless her, she's 91 with dementia now and can't make them anymore!
Didnt know anyone would not know who Moo was!! My fav at ISS!! Cant wait till tomorrow's video! Were having turkey breast, Prime rib & cornbread dressing with sausage, green bean casserole, chocolate pie. Ya'all have a blessed & yummy Thanksgiving! 🤗❤❤🙏
We are having turkey, cornbread dressing with turkey gravy, the canned cranberry sauce, squash casserole, deviled eggs, green bean casserole, corn casserole, potato salad, pecan pie, sweet potato pie, and apple pie. I'm looking forward to the feast. I have a daughter-in-law, and 2 young adult granddaughters and they all cook stuff now and I don't have to do the whole thing! That makes me happy. I will make my sweet potato casserole for Christmas along with ham we will have. My son is a traditionist and like everything he grew up eating. You can go online at Walmart on Monday you get the Black Friday deals.
You have GOT to make eggnog ice cream. It is THE BEST on a warm berry cobbler. YUM! I agree - they don't seem them in big enough cartons. The largest we can get here is 2L. The thing about eggnog, for me, is that a little goes a long way. I can't drink more than what you have in your glass, in one sitting. It does go down a lot better with a shot of dark spiced rum in it though😎 To me, boxes of mandarin oranges and eggnog being available in the grocery store, are a true sign that Christmas is coming!🥰 Heather🇨🇦
Turkey wings Jason! My mother's recipe for sweet potato/yam side dish! Sweet potatoes, yams, crushed pineapple, 1/4 c orange juice, chopped walnuts, brown sugar with marshmallows on top browned in the oven. Yum! Yum! Waldorf Salad & carrot, raisen salad are two favorites also! Green bean casserole, loaded mashed potatoes, ham & turkey with homemade gravy. We do finger foods only for during the day, so Li'l Smokies in crescent roll dough is a must for all the grandkids. I can't wait! Happy Thanksgiving to your family as well.
Great video. Our menu is turkey breast , ham , homemade potatoe yeast buns , Mac n cheese , homemade noodles for chicken n noodles and mashed potatoes , green beans (seasoned w/ smoked sausage). Dirty pudding , cherry delight, pumpkin pie. Deviled eggs.
Speaking of peacocks. Y'all might want to give Jami some tips on how to keep them out of her new garden. She's having quite a bit of trouble in that area. ☺ Once again, a great live and looking forward to Mooman's new interest. 💕
True story: my Grandma used to make Scotcharoos. and we always thought it was “grandmas secret recipe” Lol well we kept it to ourselves and guarded it closely. Years later my sister was going thru cookbooks and found Grandmas recipe! Lol😂😢😅
My parents were in the tropical fish raising hobby. They had half our house filled with fish tanks when I was a kid ( early to mid 1970's). But I recall the doing the same thing to cute ick...
Pumpkin pie, canned rolls, a red hot cinnamon jello salad and a layered green salad. The rest of the family is bringing the rest. Oh my mom is making honey butter for the rolls too!
I wasn't able to Live Chat, I love watching your videos. Somethings you do are so funny, and keeps me laughing. I enjoy watching you all. GOS Bless you all. It looks like egg now. Not a lover of the flavor. My mom, sister and brothers liked it. My mom made it from scratch. My grandmother and mom and sister made fruit bread with rum in it. Not a lover of that either.
I love the closed captions. They are hilarious! They don't do a great job in interpreting Southern! So I like watching after you're doine so I can enjoy you & their CC.
I love my eggnog ( without liquior) we call them liquor stores here. Oh a simple meal for Thanksgiving. Ham/ tater salad/ deviled eggs/ black mustards/ brown-n-serve rolls/ pecan pie/ chocolate pie-yet that's my meal at home...taking some of the ham to my daughters house and both pies for her so double pies here.. and enjoy lunch with her and eat mine at supper time❤ I enjoy watching yall
What a trove of information you provide to us all ! From lying ads to birds dying from non-stick baking pans to mercuricome, Lordy 🤪 I haven't had this much fun since the 50's .
Hey y’all! I live in Starkville Mississippi home of Mississippi State! Go SEC! I am going to put y’all’s Sunday live in my calendar so I can watch in Real time! I absolutely love your family!😊 Moo man and Mildred are stars of the show! Nugget is the most wonderful Emu I have Ever seen, I Luff him! I can’t imagine eating a turkey out of a bag that K ill s birds, that can not be good for humans either. Thanks for that tip.
I just now was able to watch this video. I love you all. I had a good laugh about the sick fish. I remember Mercuchrome, stung real bad. Thank you for explaining why I wasn't getting CC. I depend on it because of my hearing loss. Hello from SWColorado. Happy Thanksgiving.
I do remember that macerachrome (sp) it’s stung like the dickens. My aunt used it on me and all I knew is I didn’t want that stuff again! That’s so funny about your granny using that on the fish🤣🤣🤣y’all got me hungry talking about all that good food😁Looking forward to the next 2 videos. 🦃 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃Enjoy your special Turkey and all your other yummy dishes
My grandfather always made wilted cabbage with hot bacon dressing on it. It was so good. We always have strawberry, banana, pineapple jello mold with sour cream layer (that tastes like sweet cream when put in the jello mold). Also wild rice casserole. Candied Sweet potato’s , mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, turkey, California veg casserole. And that is our cut down menu as it is hard to cook anymore with health issues. We will start making the casseroles early in the week and freeze as much as we can. We will start to make short trips to the grocery store (use the electric cart) and just buy enough at a time that we can bring in and put away. My son made amaretto cranberry sauce one year and said it was gooood. We may try it. We will see. Always want to have what we used to and it is just so much, Although, we will gladly eat it for days and then makeTV dinners and freeze them. Anticipation is the best part of a holiday meal.
We are not fans of turkey so we are having chicken. I’ll spatchcock the chickens and my husband will smoke them. They are so good with cornbread dressing and sweet potato casserole and other sides like green beans with bacon tomatoes and onions. Sooooo good. Have a blessed thanksgiving dear friends

I just buy Mexican vanilla 😂😂 I'm too lazy to make my own 🤷🤷
Madagascar beans are the very best though!

--Kelly
Please share your recipe
Sounds like what we used to be gifted back in the day...I wasn't even allowed as a child to eat it, but i did! It was so good!
You version sounds edible, that other stuff makes a good door stop.
I knew who Moo was because I watched Lester a lot...Moo is huge, very tall.
I won't listen to the language on thT channel.
I really love all your videos!!
❤ sure am glad you got moody he is living his best life now thanks to your family and God he was a godsend. God bless your family and stay warm
Our dogs always went crazy for eggnog. Give Gidget a sip. She’ll love it. Arlo loves eggnog
It does go down a lot better with a shot of dark spiced rum in it though😎
To me, boxes of mandarin oranges and eggnog being available in the grocery store, are a true sign that Christmas is coming!🥰

Hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving Week. Hugs from China Spring Texas
I did not know about the cooking bags or the non-stick pans! That is shocking!
You all are so entertaining. Just love your comments about the liquor!
Ya'll have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I love your video's.
How to be totally entertaining. be the 'Cog Hill Family'... just too cool, really. 😉
You know what's better than chicken wings?
Turkey wings!!!
@@darlenegill6487 what does your reply have to do with anything that I commented on ???
True story: my Grandma used to make Scotcharoos. and we always thought it was “grandmas secret recipe” Lol well we kept it to ourselves and guarded it closely. Years later my sister was going thru cookbooks and found Grandmas recipe! Lol😂😢😅
U all have a great Thanksgiving day! Love ur stream live episodes! God Bless
Never heard of hot Cinnamon jello salad but I'm aboto Google it. Bet it's delicious.
Mercurochrome did not burn as bad as merthiolate. When I was a kid the applicator was a solid piece of glass...like a thermometer but not near as big.
I think the $10 fell outta someone's pocket. I'm with Brooke....I'll take any money I can find.🥰
There is a concrete post that has brushes on it I saw advertised somewhere that cows love for scratching.
I love the closed captions. They are hilarious! They don't do a great job in interpreting Southern! So I like watching after you're doine so I can enjoy you & their CC.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you too!
Moo Man is such a character!!!
I thought he was wanting to accessorize and wondering what you thought of it Jason ❤️
I work in a large grocery super store (not Walmart)
And it is HECTIC to say the least!

Yes you are lively bunch there on Cog Hill Farm !😍 So enjoy all you folks do on the Farm . The garden looks so eatible ! 😋
What a trove of information you provide to us all ! From lying ads to birds dying from non-stick baking pans to mercuricome, Lordy 🤪 I haven't had this much fun since the 50's .
What I find fascinating about Moody is that he has the design that looks like Nugget! Really enjoy your videos. Best to all, from Mobile, AL.
Thank you for sharing you life with us. Many Happy wishes of Thanksgiving to everyone.

Now I know what the name of my fear of birds flying around me, I love watching the birds on your show

Good afternoon from Australia 🇦🇺 🦘🦘🦘🦜🦜🐨🐨
I just now was able to watch this video. I love you all. I had a good laugh about the sick fish. I remember Mercuchrome, stung real bad. Thank you for explaining why I wasn't getting CC. I depend on it because of my hearing loss. Hello from SWColorado. Happy Thanksgiving.
Gidget is all personality. 💕
We called the mecurachrome "monkey blood" I don't know where that came from
Methiolate was the stingy stuff
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
Love you guys! Have a happy Thanksgiving. ❤️
Always had Turkey, dressing, mashed pots, candied yams, green beans, lime jello salad with fruit cocktail, etc.
Great Live session. Your pies look wonderful 💯. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving. 🍁🦃🌾💕🍂
I’m having Gumbo with Shrimp too. I’m a Louisiana gal who lives in Alabama since 1960.
Ambrosia salad. That's awesome 👌
We are not fans of turkey so we are having chicken. I’ll spatchcock the chickens and my husband will smoke them. They are so good with cornbread dressing and sweet potato casserole and other sides like green beans with bacon tomatoes and onions. Sooooo good. Have a blessed thanksgiving dear friends
growing up we always has Iodine and Merachome and we hated the iodine because it burned.
So from upstate NY: Turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, candied yams, corn pudding, cranberry-orange relish, peas with bacon, crescent rolls & butter, pumpkin pie, pecan pie & blueberry pie - with whipped cream. Now I’m hungry!! 🦃
I used to be scared of birds. Now I have 8 Cockatiels.
