The menus themselves never scared me but whenever a DVD had an option to view the movie's concept arts, it would make me feel uneasy. It's interesting to look now but seeing a background from the movie in complete silent and without any characters made me think there was gonna be a jumpscare at any time

It’s most likely what makes the uncanny valley a thing. It’s exactly what a DVD menu has, it just doesn’t feel like it.

and also for this case it may be due to the slightly off-pitch music and weird pool-of-blood looking background, maybe also since its a bootleg dvd you never know whats inside of it on your first watch

This song kinda gives me the same vibes as "To The World" by Brad Paisley, another song from the early 2000s that iirc received MASSIVE airplay from country music stations.
One of the menus on the disc plays a known song "She's In Love With The Boy" by Trisha Yearwood, so very likely it's from that timeframe of mid 90s to early 2000s

A quirk from this kind of dvd menus is that it is a "timed menu" that would play for like 20 seconds and then loop again... Some dvd's just play the movie again when this happens but the majority will loop again and again and again until the end of time.
I can TOTALLY, 100 PERCENT see why this song would scare people, JUST IMAGINE having to listen to the first 30 seconds of the song at loop FOR HOURS ON END because: 1. You may be too young to know how to turn it off or 2. You are way too scared to get close to the tv and turn it off because it's so loud, because YES, these menus tend to be louder than the whole movie and might scare you to death if you just woke up

I saw a user in another video featuring this song say that he heard this exact song in a Sims 2 video between 2009-2011, and he said that he heard it in its entirety but never knew the name nor the singer.

I'd be interested if someone looks into this theory more.
Unfortunately, he no longer has access to his old account as he said he deleted it over a decade ago. And most of the videos may or may not be up anymore.
@@okjeffy6581 verify if this is the song that he herd and then start asking around if the video if anyone else remembers the Sims video. There could be the possibility that this song is from Sims 2 so looking into the game's music library is a good idea. I would consider doing this but don't have access to a reddit account right now to ask a large amount of people.
The website for DVD styler is available in Russian, English, and other languages. The possibility that the same program was used in both CDs isn't far fetched.

The stuffed bear was only for How Long Will It Take, Everyone Knows That has an image of a pink radio and Funky had an image of people in a circle with a cat.

I think this might be solved like HLWIT. We somehow get a longer snippet, someone starts looking through a copyright database and eventually it gets found - heck, it might as well come from a movie too.

@@oigygiyI highly doubt it. HLWIT has been lost for 16 years because nobody was really searching for it. It was last year when the song started gaining traction and people began to actively search for it.

I got into lostwave because I own the pink CD player that's associated with EKT after a friend brought it to my attention about the search. I got into the lore of this stuff and ended up here.

This is coming from a classic country listener. This is definitely not a popular country artist, or anyone that got real big popularity. However i believe this could be from an artist that got a smaller country radio hit in the late 90s / early 2000s. I believe this could be someone trying to be like more popular female country singers. Like how many girls sang the national anthem at rodeos to be the next Reba. I believe that the DVD's pitch was tampered with after the WAV files were compiled onto the disc. The reason why i believe this to be the case is because there is another song by Trisha Yearwood "She's In Love With The Boy" on the same disc which was pitched up with the same settings as our unknown song. I pitched both songs down -3.030 semitones and they sounded natural

I have a similar song I recorded of a hdmi stick containing a bunch of bootleg arcade games, it’s the full song, has no lyrics and is very similar to above the clouds just as I said without lyrics I have zero idea who could have made it but my current recording is extremely low quality, I’ll probably re record it sometime and I might upload it to my channel in a higher quality recording

Man i remember these.types of dvds. These backgrounds songs were loud as heck. And they were creepy because they were just looped 30 seconds of the songs.. Imagine just waking up in 3am to this and being too scared to get up and letting the song loop until you finally fall asleep again. Once when i wad a kid my mom put up a dvd of some white teeth and other christian movies. And the background. That green looping spiral background. I once woke up to a bootleg dvd menu in 3 am i was too scare to get up and put a movie up or turn off the tv.. and i think it was this exact song that has played on it. But not sure though. Im sure that it was a burnt dvd though. I dont have the dvd anymore. If i had it i would definently help with the hunt for it.
The country rock style along with the vocal singing style and accent makes me think that it's a song by Dolly Parton in the 90s or later. It could have been an unreleased demo that was leaked through a file sharing website.

Yeah... I'm not getting the creepy factor from that DVD menu. If you wanna see a really creepy one, go look up the menu for the live-action 2002 Scooby-Doo movie. It's a still, mysterious image of a bunch of tikis and stuff with the instrumental version of "Land Of A Million Drums" by Outkast. "Land Of A Million Drums" is a good song but the instrumental version is pretty damn creepy.

Did anyone think about actually ripping the contents of the DVD and seeing if we could find the file name for the mp3?
The pitch shifting is probably incidental, from resampling.
I immidietly noticed it was made with DVD styler, which made it so funny for me. I use that software to regurarly make DVDs of shows and stuff, so to see it here on a real DVD, not even designing custom assets, rather using built in ones is so lazy. This just makes me feel some guy made these in his garage back in the day, using music he had on his computer (or downloaded from somewhere).

Why not try putting the bootleg DVD into a computer’s CD drive, opening the DVD on your computer as a folder, and checking out the names of the files on the files on the disc? Maybe an mp3 file of the song is on it, with the name of the song and/or artist in the file’s name or file information…
