  • What happens when you put two comparable micro compact pistols up against each other? In our case, we compare the Shadow Systems CR920P Elite to a Springfield Armory Hellcat RDP. These two pistols are the most comparable ones on the market and share many similarities.
    How do they shoot? Watch the video to find out. Which shoots flatter? Watch the video to find out! They both feature proprietary compensators on them and both of them are the same size. One pistol maybe better but both are great options.
    The Shadow Systems CR920P is a newcomer to the game with the comp, multi optic footprint and great overall design. While the Springfield Hellcat RDP has been around for a few years and more than proven itself for reliability. We have around 2000 rounds for reliability and durability testing on the RDP and it has been 100 percent reliable. For the CR920P it can be a touch picky on hollow point rounds.

    Good video and more like these would be helpful for those looking to get one as opposed to both (like I currently have). You did a great job breaking down the differences and things folks need to consider (such as the legality of the threaded barrel). With that said, I have both in a very close race and a flip of the coin could determine which one to take. The grip for me feels better with the SS-CR920, however the difference is in the palm swell, especially if using the 15 round mags on the Hellcat. The RDP shoots so much better vs. the regular Hellcat (yes, much better) that it truly is a pistol to carry. The muzzle flip is not bad at all. I do prefer the RDP trigger over the SS-CR920, but as you pointed out, the serrations on the SS-CR920 is by far much better. Both carry very well, though I may at times prefer to carry the SS-CR920 simply because the holster I have - @QVCTactical (shoutout to Roger) wears so well. I shoot both relatively the same, as well. Ultimately, don't think you can go wrong with either.

    I'm so in love with my 920P that it's by far my favorite carry option to shoot. I've even sold my modded 43X and other small guns. Now it's just the LCP MAX Elite (for super small) or the 920P for most carry. I DID replace the trigger, and I do want them to come out with a 16-17 backup/HD magazine for it.

    Own both, I will agree that the CR920 is easier to shoot, but had a trigger failure at 500 rounds, again at 850, and the striker disassemble itself at 1248 rounds exact. Maybe I got a lemon, but they ended up sending me a whole new weapon, and customer service was top notch. Second CR920 zero issues in 1100 rounds. The RDP had one failure to feed which was partially my fault!at around 1300 rounds. My personal experience with both.

    Own both and I agree with your assessment. The Cr920 is definately the better option. The comp on the RDP imo, doesn't work as well as the CR920P. If you shoot the CR920 and the Cr920 P back to back, there's a significant difference in recoil. That's not the case with the standard Hellcat and the RDP. A slightly better trigger on the CR920P and you're good to go.

Install the +2 baseplate on the full 15 round mag and now you have a 17. The numbered window on the rear of the mag will let you know the capacity of the mag body itself.

    I have struggled to grow to love my CR920 regular, and while its sealed its place as my carry gun, i still dread my trigger. The original trigger was horrendous, SS replaced it, and i still feel like it needs much improved. Gritty takeup, then a wall, then so much creep it feels like a double action before a suprise break.
    Also agree with your mag button comments, too flush and hard to reach back for. Flubbed a bunch of reloads at a Carry Trainer class. But then i put on a hogue grip sleeve which increased the grip circumference and now its SO much easier to actuate.
    Really hope they sell the barrell and comp separately to original CR owners, cuz it does shoot well, was suprised how i could keep up with and surpass people in classes even with their full size glocks and berettas.

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  10 місяців тому

      It does shoot well indeed. Not too sure how familiar you are with Glock style triggers, but in general the more you shoot them, the better they get. With most small frame micro guns, reloads are a pain in comparison to a compact or subcompact size gun like a G19 or Sig Xcompact

      I definitely didn't think the trigger was a high point, but I didn't have the "surprise break" experience at all. It basically felt like a Glock. Which, for me, means terrible in dry fire, and just fine on the range.

    I own a SA Hellcat RDP and really like the look of the compensator as it has a kind of old school look to it. I also disagree as far as the slide serrations go. The ones on the Hellcat are basically perfect for a CC or daily carry. They are neither deep nor sharp enough to snag yet have enough definition for good grip / rack. My hellcat replaced a S&W M&P 40c (which has way too pronounced slide serrations) as my CC and it's near perfect as far as I'm concerned. When it comes to the accuracy of 1st and follow-up shots I've never owned better in this size category.

    Hi. I appreciate your videos and your engaging explanations. I'm looking at CR920P vs MR920L threaded. I can't afford both. I understand that one may serve a different context better than the other, but if you had to pick one as your only pistol, which would it be? I bring up the MR920L threaded because of perhaps being as good as CR920P with recoil management (I don't know) and also threaded for option to put a can on it. Thanks for your time.

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  10 місяців тому +4

      I would pick the MR920, not the L version. I carry it regularly and about twice as much as the smaller CR920. The shootability is perfect for the size and recoil is like a CR920P. Additionally, it’s just a touch wider with more capacity. So in short, if you can only have one, get the MR920, non L version and possibly even threaded for the ability to add a comp if you want it. I personally carry the MR920 Foundation Series. They are a phenomenal value.

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  10 місяців тому +1

      @BondServant-kg3tq if you are getting it for carry the extra length will be noticeable and I don’t notice any difference in shootability. A lot of people claim they carry full size guns like a G17 or DR920 all the time in the appendix or hip. My question is then, do you carry it 100 percent of the time and have it on your person 100 percent of the time. The answer is likely a resounding no. I can carry the Mr920 in appendix or even hip without discomfort and lack of concealment. The smaller the gun, the better it will conceal. I personally look for a carry gun which shoots nearly as well as a full size duty gun, it’s comfortable to carry all the time and is readily concealable. Hope this helps!

    I would like to see is a Comp vs Ported. But stock weapons. No after market stuff. Say like the S&W Shield Plus Ported PC 4 in. vs the CR920P. That would be something to watch.

    Not gonna lie the side bide side of the recoil looked exactly the same lol and I just can’t trust the massive amount of message board reviews of people having FTF and other failures with these newer Shadow Systems guns and people waiting weeks and weeks to get them back from SS and the problem remains Which sucks cuz I want one badly but my luck I’ll get one of the flawed ones.

    The RDP if I had to choose. The CR920 was one of the most unreliable pistols that I shot. Even after their bull💩 "break in period" (shot 450 rds) it wouldnt feed anything other than ball ammo. Also if you need a "technical tuesday" to create excuses of your guns dont function reliably then you know there is a problem.

    It took 2 min in the vid and found this B.S biased all talk and no show how about zipping the bias garbage and do a side by side comparison with a few different ammos and shooters then we will see a non biased choice. And with plate adapters who cares what sight will fit. The only truth out of this waist of a vid is "its personal preference" the rest cosmetic bitching

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  8 місяців тому +6

      Biased? The CR920P, in my experience is a flatter shooting more feature packed pistol for a slightly higher price tag. The RDP is a great pistol, it’s mentioned several times in the video. There is no reality where the RDP shoots flatter, different ammos? That won’t change anything. In fact a higher grain ammo or something hotter will then shoot even flatter out of the CR920P.
      Here’s a good idea, drop us a link to your channel and we can get a good idea as to how it’s done.

  • @donelldavis5850

      Make you own video, with your own 8k worth of camera gear and then with a refined grip and shooting ability show us why you think that.
      The RDP came out before the CR920P. Just so you know 👍

    • @JTheraos
      @JTheraos 7 місяців тому

      @@HuntFishShootChannelthe 8k camera comment was wildly unnecessary and is just showing off for the sake of showing off. You don't need an 8k camera to make a very good comparison video.

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  7 місяців тому

      No you’re right, but you do need a skill set and some level of legitimacy for calling someone bias.
      That’s also not showing off, that’s simply just laying the groundwork for if you are such an expert and I’m biased, make your own video that doesn’t look and sound like you filmed it with a handy cam from 99.

    How do younot care about a few malfunctions here and there? What TF are you smoking john? No malfunctions with the Hellcat at all and somehow your still riding the CR 920's balls like your getting paid for this video. 😂😅😅

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  8 місяців тому

      I’m starting to think you are getting paid to ride the balls of the RDP since you prefer it so much to the CR920P and can’t remain even remotely objective. Who is John? Do you listen to entire statements or just paraphrase?
      The worst part about your inability to comprehend opinion based observation is you completely missed several parts where we give the RDP higher remarks and prefer certain aspects. The RDP is not as soft shooting or easy to shoot under recoil as the CR920P, lacks aggressive slide serrations, the grip textures are less “grippy”, the optics mounting platform is less innovative and accepting to multiple dots and the trigger is heavier. On top of all this, some people really care, but the Hellcat is not made in the United States but made in Croatia.

  • @donelldavis5850
    @donelldavis5850 8 місяців тому

    Bias video my guy. We can tell right away without letting us know that you spent way to much mi by for your 920 and you know the RDP is the best firearm overall.

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  8 місяців тому

      That’s fine if you think it’s biased. The bias, if that’s what we are calling it, is based off shoot-ability and feature set. you should try shooting both of them side by side, we feel you won’t think the same afterwards. Regardless, they are both great pistols and the RDP was one of the first comped pistols available!
