Avelia Liberty is a ugly hideous looking thing. I like the look of Acela, simple. It’s kind of a thing of don’t fix what’s not broken. Acela needs it’s own track lane for it to unleash its fullest potential before they bring another model on.

Surely just one locomotive can haul these relatively short and lightweight passenger train sets (compared to freight trains), or am I wrong? I admit I know almost nothing about this stuff in the current era. Many years ago, my ancestors worked as railroaders in Scranton, PA, for decades...but that era has long since passed. As a kid, I rode many trains to/from Scranton to New York. Most of what I know about railroading is now "ancient history!" 😊

I want to be one of the few americans to experience this great technological modern marvel of transportation. Hats off to you China, Japan and Europe and soon India who will soon have their new highspeed bullet completed and operational...
@@carlsmith5545 Objectively speaking, the USA could easily have ultra high-speed railways that could rival or surpass that of any other country in the world. The fact that other countries have more expansive high-speed rail networks has NOTHING do to with America's capability...it has to do with America's NEED...or, more precisely...LACK of need. The USA has no equal in the world when it comes to its network of highways! As a result, the USA has evolved its roadway system to the point where it's so expansive and good that establishing high speed railroads arguably might not merit the massive costs to do so. Increasing high-speed rail lines would be wonderful and beneficial (I'd sure like to see it), but in all but a few cases, it would also be redundant when compared to the extensive highway network already in place. Also, consider the fact that all the countries in Asia and Europe that have excellent high-speed railways are MUCH smaller than the USA. The total length of Japan's system probably wouldn't be enough to service just one US state like California or Texas...and there would be 49 other states left to include! Also, in the USA, airline transportation is available to everyone to make longer distance high-speed connections that might be too time-consuming or tedious via roadways. The USA could have more high-speed rail service, but apart from what it already has (such as on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor), why bother? Mind you, I'd LOVE to see it happen, and I'd be a regular rider if it did. In my own home town where my ancestors worked on the railroads, passenger service died off simply because highways grew in length, quality, and areas serviced...so much so that it made no economic and timely sense to travel by passenger rail any longer. THAT'S why the USA doesn't have the high-speed rail system that other smaller countries have. It's simple economics, not the lack of technical capability.

There are many countries all over the globe that have very extensive highway networks and highspeed bullet technology. Second? The airlines? All you have to do is watch the news during the holidays and travel seasons year after year and ofcourse during the computer failure of last week. You already know what happens during these times. Third? I make the 831 mile trip from Lancaster Pennsylvania to Jacksonville Florida 3 times a year. Traveling through the night when everyone is home and out of my way it takes me 11.5 to 12.5 hours to complete the trip with my Jaguar XJL providing me with 570 miles of range. The same trip takes 13.5 to 14.5 hours by EV. But with the what i would call, (The United States Atlantic bullet line from Boston Massachusetts to Jacksonville Florida), i could make the 40 minute ride to Philadelphia Pennsylvania, board a bullet and be in Jacksonville Florida in about 4 to 6 hours even with it stopping in one city in each state it travels through. With this, you could move millions of americans up and down the entire United States Eastern seaboard with great comfort and at speeds reaching 200 to 225 mph and not so much as a ripple on your martinis. The need is far greater in some parts of the country than others ofcourse and the eastern seaboard is definitely one of them. This would free up traffic and congestion on i-95 and other highways that also runs the coast. Great for those of us who simply don't fly and also, fully electric. Hell i could board in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and be in New York city in 30 minutes to go to work making twice the money on the same job as in Pennsylvania and still be home in time for supper at the end of the day. But instead of simply doing it, the American people rather sit around and come up with excuses not to do it. They rather sit on congested highways and sit stranded at airports due to cancellations and delays during the holidays and travel seasons year after year. The nation that can put a man on the moon still can't achieve highspeed bullet technology. Rather than spend 3 to 5 hundred billion dollars to build the United States Atlantic bullet line from Boston Massachusetts to Jacksonville Florida stopping in one city in each state it travels through, they rather spend 6 to 8 hundred billion dollars to put some fool on mars. Give away hundreds of billions of dollars to other countries so they can fight their wars, here's a big one, remember all the money the United States government gave away in stimulus packages during the pandemic? Came to a cost of over 7 trillion dollars, gave it away!!! 500 billion to achieve the Atlantic bullet line and still have 6.5 trillion in change. While Japan and china now advancing in maglev super train technology which are trains that operates on magnetic levitation reaching speeds of up to 375 mph, the mighty United States of America continues to lag behind the sorry to say, far more advanced countries of the far east and Europe and now add india to that list. But never mind maglev technology. This technology is way above the understanding of the American mind and technological abilities. Look up some of the videos of worlds fastest trains on earth, the cho Shinkansen maglev in Japan, the English Chunnel bullet which is a great engineering marvel and see for yourself how the United States needs to get their noses out of there phones, roll up their sleeves and achieve these modern marvels of transportation. By having a cab on both ends you don't have to turn the train around or get a new locomotive to pull the train in the opposite direction.

Current Acelas were made by Bombardier. The new ones are made by Alstom of France. 👌
