    Hi, is it possible to have the 'Freeze' function on Button A, and infinite sustain on Button B? For example, so both effects can be accesed via the footswitches, as opposed to one at a time selected via the menu?

    Best method is definitely to use the reverb before just to avoid any potential clipping in the loop. Ultimately it would be best if there was a third option built into the Big Sky where you could play over the drone without playing dry

      I think it's not possible because that would mean playing with 2 seperate reverbs at the same time on the same patch, and that goes far beyond the capacities of this pedal. However, I suspect that this could be one of Strymon's future projects: creating delay and reverb pedals where you can combine multiple delay/reverb types on the same patch. That seems like a good idea!

      The Source Audio Ventris and Collider can do this because there are 2 separate engines, the second with freeze. It is still a bit annoying to hold down the foot switch for long single chord drones so for that purpose I feel the looper is better.

    I worked out how to do this with my own Big Sky, Strymon El Capistan and a EH 720 looper but I wish I’d watched your video first as it took me ages to work it out. Loved your tutorial though, now subscribed. Lovely Suhr guitar too by the way. Dave 👍

    Is it possible to simulate holding the switch down by utilizing an expression pedal so the pad plays until you move the expression pedal? In other word simulate a latching button instead of a momentary that you have to manually hold down.

      That's a great idea, and I have never tried it, but if ever someone reading this comment explored this option, I'd also love to know if it is possible. Let us know!

      You can do it with MIDI. Use a footswitch on your MIDI controller to send CC#97 with value 127=on or value 0=off.

    I bought a Polara reverb then later a Big sky. This video has given me a reason to keep both now (I was going to sell the Polara)..

    Hello Antoine, I’m trying to write my first ambient tracks and I need two reverbs, one 100% wet for drones and another to play arpeggios and other stuff.
    what do you think about putting the ehx freeze pedal (mono) before the one for drones and then the other one for arpeggios in stereo?
    I mean, this strategy is because I want to go in both my two Katanas stereo but what about the sound? You say in the video that drones has to be at last… is it ok if I do the opposite, so first the drones and then the plate/spring/whatever?
    Also, have you tried the RV-500 with hold/ctl function for freeze? Do you recommend it?

    Ian almost glad my time for playing is limited and I switched to acoustic so that I wouldn’t have to fiddle with gear anymore. The endless possibilities when fiddling with amps, mods and pedals these days scare me. I’d get lost.

    Hi Antoine;
    Great video Antoine. That BigSky is such a great piece of kit, I have a hall of fame reverb.
    Wanted to ask, how would you link up 2 Amps and have em in stereo, the sound going through the bigsky and the other pedals would be awesome !!,

    • @JUNO-69
      @JUNO-69 3 роки тому

      Most stereo pedals just use two seperate outputs so you can send a seperate left - right signal to each amp.

    One question. Does the freeze and Infinate mode diminish over time? or does it continue forever as a drone or looper (in particular the freeze latch mode) Thanks!

    • @AntoineMichaudGuitar
      @AntoineMichaudGuitar  4 місяці тому

      They don't diminish, you can hold them for as long as you want at the same volume.

    Any chance to use the freeze mode and another reverb mode at the same time using the same (big sky) pedal?

    • @LemonMeIon
      @LemonMeIon 3 роки тому

      Not unless you had another reverb pedal or record the freeze in a loop like in this video because it can only run one engine at a time.

  • @michael_caz_nyc

    You seem to know this pedal as-good-as anyone on You Tube. Can you describe Hold vs. Persist ?

    • @AntoineMichaudGuitar
      @AntoineMichaudGuitar  3 роки тому +1

      Those are 2 different things. ''Hold'' is exactly what I described in this video: do you want your reverb to sustain each new note (INFINITE) or just the first note you froze by holding the footswitch (FREEZE)? Infinite and Freeze are the two ''Hold'' types you can select.
      ''Persist'' can be toggled on and off on each preset, and it is to choose whether the reverb continues trailing when you disengage the preset or not.

    Many thanks for doing this videos, few months ago a saw tom's misch tiny desk and I've noticed that he used this pedal before his second song. Do you know how he managed to get that freeze modo without clipping?
