Whitney was the greatest female singer period. You can't be better than Whitney Houston and whoever Paul is he probably wouldn't know what soul is if it was right in front of him
Who ever made that statement, there is no cure for stupid. This woman had more soul in her little finger than anyone during her time as a singer. Whitney was on a different level with her talent!!!!
Watch Her do "All the Man I Need" from her Welcome Home Heroes TV Special "Live"! You'll get what you're looking for. Everyone don't have to Contort their faces to make soulful sounds!!! That guy must not be a singer...maybe that's why he's so opinionated!!!
Oh brugh, I was BLESSED to see her in Denver, during the Bodyguard tour, and she sounds like an angel from heaven! VOICE clear as glass! Articulation and enunciation WAS ON POINT, and she wore us out fa 3 hours with 1 minute costume changes! The BEST concert I've been to by an ACTUAL SANGA! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Whitney’s voice is absolute perfection! She was such a beautiful woman, with the voice of an Angel. You definitely need to see her live. It’s perfection as well.
Watch her live. The lady is soul. Greatest voice to ever have lived. All The Man I Need from the Homecoming Heroes concert. Red Dress. She slays the song, she slays music, she slays the audience.
This comment says it all, also I am so happy Whitney acted and there are a few movies with her, what a talent. I really miss her. When she debuted in 1984, I was in high school, I was a witness to this voice when she first started. I really miss this lady and her voice
*The vocal elasticity, the vocal control, the melisma, the song interpretation, the velvety-honey like tone, the diction, the vocal power, the vibrato, the operatic head notes, the resonance, the breath control, the vocal sustainability, the vocal clarity, the vocal emotiveness, the stage presence... THE VOICE .....* Whitney *'The Vocal Tsunami'* Houston...... Whitney *'Diamond Vocal Cords'* Houston.
I’ve heard this song a million times and it still gives me chills when Whitney hits those notes. Unparalleled voice. She performed this live at an awards show and she has the same level of control. She was just a force of nature. Sorely missed.
For those who don't know, SOUL singing is a BLACK style of singing. I'm not saying other singers can't show deep emotions in their singing. Soul is just the general name of Black American Music that many "try" to immulate... (not saying that's a problem... just pointing that out.) Whitney Houston was very much a SOUL singer, like most American BLACK women are. I say this for 2 reasons... First.... Some people misuse and/or misunderstand what Soul Music or Soul Singing is and try to apply it to singers who (no offense) don't sound Black. Soul = Black. Second... There are some who say she wasn't Black enough. Whitney sang a lot of POP Songs that were not written in a way that takes you into that deep Black Soul Singing style... However, you can find many videos of her singing like she's at a Black family reunion or a Black Baptist church. Whitney was very much a Black Singer... a Soul Singer!
Whitney was 30 years old in this performance, you will see Angelina Jordan doing the same song at the age of 13 and 16 in the studio in the music video or in a live performance in Norway where she comes from. He is going to be the next thing in world music in my personal opinion...(🦶🦶👑)
Exactly what I said out loud when he said that. While I do appreciate young people reaching back to understand and learn our wonderful music, it’s kinda irritating when they make statements about our music that aren’t true out of ignorance.
Back then Whiney style of singing was more pop-ish with a soulful undertone. Her vocal range was awesome. She was considered a poop star in the beginning but became an R&B singer later on.
Whitney was brilliant. One of the best voices ever. She knew how to emote so well. And she was so gorgeous. The Bodyguard is one of my mother's favorite movies, so i know this soundtrack by heart.
Just search for her gospel renditions. Lol. She came up in the church. She sang This Day really beautifully. But almost anything of hers live is passionate and she finds the essence of the song to emote.
Check out the song Count On (think that's the name) a duet with Whitney Houston and CeCe Winans. The Houston's and the Winans were great friends just like they were friends (and still are) with Anita Baker. Feel free to check out the Winans too.
The argument that Whitney Houston has no soul has always been absurd. It began when she started her career and was booed on the Soul Train awards because people accused her of singing "too white". Well forgetting that there is no such thing as singing white or singing black, her mother was a gospel singer and Whitney grew up in the church singing. To say that she has no soul is to not understand what soul even means. They were only criticizing her because she was doing "pop music" and not R&B or sticking to the "soul" genre. But just because someone doesn't sing soul music doesn't mean they have no soul when they are singing. Country singers can have soul, rock singers can have soul, jazz singers can have soul, and so can pop singers. Whitney's singing style was unique to her (at the time), but it has since been copied hundreds of times over because she inspired an entire generation of singers of every color and background. So Paul is tripping, and needs to go reevaluate what his definition of soul is.
Was there anyone during this time who grew up at an age above your teens that wasn't absolutely in love with her during this movie. There's something about a voice like this that will put you in s trance. If you knew her work and you have any idea about music then you miss her and understand why they call her The Voice.
A song for you ( welcome home troops) Greatest love of all (88 wembley stadium) I have nothing (93 billboard awards) I love you porgie, and I am telling you
She was literally called The Voice and inspired almost all of the best soul singers out there now but she doesn't have soul? Okay, Paul. Ps. It's okay to call him wrong because he is.
"The bodyguard" soundtrack is one of my all time favorite. Her voice was out of this world. RIP, beautiful lady. Thank you for your contribution to music
Check out hee Natuonal Anthem performance. It is considered the greatest of all time. Also, another good national anthem performance is Jack Black. I knew he could sing, but didn't think he could be serious. He did a great job.
Paul must have hearing problems. Anyone that says Whitney doesn't have soul is just plain wrong. She's got soul and then some. The best voice of a generation hands down. Period.

You cannot sing like that without soul, she feels all of her music. Who said that? They have no soul
I’ve heard this song a million times and it still gives me chills when Whitney hits those notes. Unparalleled voice. She performed this live at an awards show and she has the same level of control. She was just a force of nature. Sorely missed.
I strongly recommend watching ‘Why does it hurt so bad’ live.
The lady is a legend. She left us far too early.

Whitney is one of the best vocalist ever! She hit those notes perfectly! Whitney touches your soul when she sings.
He said "I guess all 80's songs start off the same." This is NOT an 80's song....It's 90's ✅✅

Also it’s mf Whitney Houston!!! She’s a genre of music all on her on! 💛
Exactly what I said out loud when he said that. While I do appreciate young people reaching back to understand and learn our wonderful music, it’s kinda irritating when they make statements about our music that aren’t true out of ignorance.

This is from the 1992 film "The Bodyguard", starring Whitney and Kevin Costner. It is still the best selling soundtrack of all time in the US.

Whitney’s live of “I Have Nothing” is what you are looking for. @anton reacts
Love this song. My favorite by her. Kevin Costner picked her to be in the movie The Bodyguard. At her funeral he gave a beautiful speech about her.
Just search for her gospel renditions. Lol. She came up in the church. She sang This Day really beautifully. But almost anything of hers live is passionate and she finds the essence of the song to emote.
It's not 80s though. 90s.
Perfection 🥰
There was a pristine quality to her studio recordings. But Whitney live was a whole different experience. She’d always switch it up for more 🔥!
One of my favorite songs because of the beautiful lyrics, her singing and emoting the lyrics gives Chills! Great Reaction from You.

The best singer of the late 20th century
