I played competitively for years up until I was 17 when I tore my ACL and than again at 18 when they ultimately decided I needed surgery. “DUH” I was never the same mentally even after the surgery and weeks of physical therapy, that was super weird to me it was like I loss my super powers lol. I decided to stop playing sports all together and that actually made me depressed for years, that probably sounds silly to some. But when you do something you love for years and it’s taken from you it’s actually a pretty hard pill to swallow. I’m watching these videos because I want to get back into sports, I miss it. Looking for the right advice and knee support/brace
U aint alone dude im 20 rn and u were right when u said it feels like losing ur superpowers it is true the depression is the real struggle it takes away the motivation to do anything else
I turned 15 in October, an I tore my acl in late August. I love from the bottom of my heart playing football ⚽️. When it was taken away from me it felt like my life had just lost one if it’s key elements. For me the thing I needed to survive was water food and football. I don’t know if I will ever play competitively ever again but I’m so motivated and ready for the redemption. 2 weeks post op right now. Sorry for making this a one-way therapy session.
Quick answer: No. I didn't wear a brace after my acl surgery. My doctor said you really don't need it. Also, I only went to the physio once. All recovery and PT I did by myself. Was back to sports within the average time frame.
I’m 14 and i have a medial meniscus and LCL tear. I play with the U15 girls team in my hometown, and i’ll have to wear a brace, to practice and normal activity. I hate wearing it, and i’m waiting for a special brace made for me. I’m waiting for an appointment with my ortho in either november or december, and i’m freaking nervous. They say he’s the best doctor in the Faroe Islands, but i don’t believe that. He saw me 2 weeks after my meniscus injury, and he didn’t even listen to me when i said where the pain is located. And he didn’t find the meniscus injury, which my doctor did.
Many thanks, I have been researching "should i sleep with a knee brace on" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Paneyton Dumbfounded Preponderance - (search on google )? It is an awesome exclusive product for getting rid of your annoying chronic knee pain minus the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend Sam after a lifetime of fighting got great success with it.
@@azersamaali2016 wow i did 9 months of hard physical therapy, and i got a cortisone shot to get rid of the pain. helped a lot, and i’m pain free now:) you choose what’s best for you, i chose PT and a cortisone shot (doesn’t even hurt that bad, you just have to get the right person to do it)
After my ACL surgery . My doctor says that I have to keep my knee totally straight for two week with my knee brace. After two week, will add30 degrees per week progress to make my knee adapt the bending. Is this really necessary ? I found out a lots people who had ACL surgery can try to bend their knee like right after the surgery. Which one is better or right?
It all depends on what all you had done on your knee and the level of fitness you had before the surgery. I had ACL reconstructive only, and was completely out of the brace by week three. Also, i was told to bear as much weight as possible without causing pain right from the beginning and allowed to begin my bending/extending exercises right away. My friend who had ACL and meniscus reconstruction, however, had to wear his brace locked in extended position for 4 weeks and was not allowed to bear weight. It took him 6 weeks to come off the brace. I was also in much better shape than him because i go injured during soccer season while he was just a recreational player. Listen to your doctor and physician, the last thing you want to do is re-tare it and have to go through those first three weeks of hell again...
I still can't walk normally after 6weeks acl surgery. Is it normal or not? My fisiotherapisht says that im late to do practice in week 1-2 so my knee still no power? How can i come back on the next week? Is it danger if me late to do execercise in week 1 and 2?
Many thanks, I've been looking for "what is the best knee brace for torn acl?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Paneyton Dumbfounded Preponderance - (do a search on google )? It is an awesome one off product for getting rid of your annoying chronic knee pain without the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my good mate called Gray after a lifetime of fighting got great results with it.
@@emperorjasonpaul u prob didn’t tear your meniscus that’s why. When u tear your acl most times u tear ur meniscus also and it also gets repaired and after surgery you can’t walk on it from 4-6 weeks till it fully heals. But just acl surgery you’ll be walking the next day maybe even same day
This is glorious, I've been looking for "how can i elevate my knee while sleeping?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my friend Sam after many years got great results with it.
The first 2 weeks after my injury i would wear it all the time. After these 2 weeks i could walk and run just like before but it wasnt like it was before. I had my surgery 2 months after my injury. The next month i wore it only when i would get out of the house but not during sleep

Twitter Accout That's basically what my doctor told me when I tore mine he just gradually adjusted how much I can bend it through out the weeks

dubang lama I think I have an acl I got hit by a truck my injury has been healing but it depends on your wounds
I would think 1 to 2 months but idk I'm just some guy on the Internet good luck friend
No. The acl won't heal once it's teared. I would advice you to visit another doctor if yoy want to keep on playing sports.

Alejandro Castro Pena yes
Only if you run in your dreams.

Yeah
4 week after surgery l can not walk normally
Muhammad khalid it’s okay. Keep doing exercises and it will get better. Make sure you’re stretching and strengthening
Well I'm 6 weeks out of surgery.
Omar Perez I am currently too. How is you recovery so far? I am curious. I can walk “normally” now without my brace but it still feels awkward.
