Great step by step! I have several types of Oakley’s. This video explains them all! Today I’m swapping lenses in my Flight Jackets. Thanks for the tutorial!!
The Haynes repair manuals have always been really good (before everything moved to UA-cam 10 years ago lol), but while my 2003 Corolla was easy to work on, I can't get a manual for a newer Subaru. T_T
First off, You're the man, Will!! VERY EASY AND SIMPLE! However, you said, "I promise you didn't break anything," and I trust you, but my Holbrooks are in a couple of pieces now. Like I said, I trust you 100%, but I do prefer my Holbrooks to be 1 piece, or 2. Is there any possibility of a "Changing your new multipiece Oakleys back to 1" video in the future? THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!
Yup these frames are durable af! Landed on my oil Rigs one time and I’m heavy big guy. When I saw them I thought I had broken them. the lens was out the frame was in parts. Everybody who saw was in shock and like damn they broke! But I picked up the pieces and just put it all together and BAM!!! Now everybody wants Oakleys!!
Iridium coating on M2 XL is delaminating. Went to the local Oakley store and the sales rep told me I'm screwed cause have no purchase receipt (they were gifted). He admitted the delamination is a manufacturer's defect but Oakley nor the store are responsible...do not buy Oakley
I want some of those lens changing gloves....are those gloves made from the microbag material?..are they for retail sale if so where can I purchase them? Thanks
I wash them off with clean water and than carefully dry them with really soft toilett-paper , because microfiber sometimes has minor dust particles in it and can make micro scratches if you dont watch out.
You guys are great company, even though you're owned by Luxottica. I've been using your sunglasses since 2012. I bought a pair of fuel cells back then, I've both lenses replaced once these things have been dropped on the concrete, sand, rocks, dirt, you name it. I've taken these things shooting in the desert, and I've even survived a sandstorm with these things. You guys make good, durable, high-quality products. Gucci has nothing on you, how dare they charge $800 for a pair of sunglasses that break when you drop them on the concrete one time.
Sweet. The first 2 minutes worked great for swapping lenses on my Metalinks. Insertion was a little different, though -- I had to insert the sharper corner at the nose, and then press in near the ear.
I always liked the story about how difficult the X-Metal line was to manufacture, wroth with difficult and costly processes. It was really Jannard’s forward thinking and a dedication to cutting edge design that was at the core of what Oakley was doing in the marketplace. Really no other outfit out there was making eyewear out of forged metal much less using difficult to work with titanium (and magnesium in other lines). The closest any other companies dared get to these materials was use of titanium wire - but forging it? Ha! Once Luxottica swallowed Oakley, it was a sure bet that X-Metal’s days were numbered. Luxottica was just not that kind of company.
Glasses from the "x metal" collection are arguably some of the most sought after frames by oakley collectors, and they are rarely given up by people once they've obtained them. They've also been discontinued since around late 2012 - early 2013 (at least the Juliets) with Romeos being taken off about 7 years earlier if memory serves me right.
Followed the method to remove Mainlink lenses, ended up with chipped iridium coating. The chipping spread rapidly over time, after a few more wears the iridium coatings of both lenses are now totally ruined! 😖
İ have twoface xl and small version. Both have factory manufacturers fail on the silver part of paint aluminum looks getting so quickly Looks rusty.in turkey luxottica dors not help. What can i do?
Hey Oakley! Love the vids. I have a pair of your Catalyst glasses (I love them and recommend them, they fit great, and are super comfy) but my one of my lenses got scratched and it really bugs me. Does the same apply for lens replacement for my catalyst?
The lenses on my Frogskin Lites keep cracking near the nose bridge. It's like a spider crack. I've gotten my lenses replaced multiple times and they keep cracking. I don't store them in my car. They are always in a room temperature location in its case.
Dont leave them where extreme temperatures are prevalent. Also, dont use any chemicals besides the oakley approved cleaning solution or distilled water. 9 times out of 10 when people come in complaining about lens peeling, when we ask them where they keep their glasses.....they say in their car. This is usually the cause of delamination or "peeling". The lens technology (Plutonite) is amazing, but remember, its still essentially a purified polycarbonate or plastic, and will behave as such when its heated or cooled to extreme fluctuating temperatures. (Oakley Sales Rep, Pooler Georgia)
@@nickprater2785 @Nick Prater I have Penny, Crankcase, 2 Crosshair, Canteen, 2 Five Squared, Canteen....all of them never seen a pool or the beach, never left inside the car nor extreme heat and all of them peeled. The replacement lenses never peeled off.
@@mr.rodriguez3512 its because the lens coating is sprayed on or "dipped" when its applied. The reason the lens does this is to keep from sacrificing perfect optical clarity. Other lenses have a film thats applied to the lens, and this causes your eye to slightly dilate when it looks through them, causing eye strain if they're worn for a prolonged period. Sportsrx has a video up explaining what us oakley salesmen have to learn when we start working there. But anyway, when your eye looks through this lens, your brain corrects to make what you're looking through "clear", but if you were to put a camera lens behind these lenses, it would be the same as looking through opaque glass. So its kind of a double edged sword......oakley continues to use their coatings this way because it doesn't sacrifice the optical properties of the polycarbonate they use (plutonite). Which is clearer than the highest rated optical glass by the way, but at the end of the day, its still a platic-type material and will behave as such. The coating will eventually wear off, but its a small price to pay if you think the Z80 rating for ballistics, and the highest optical grade for any sports glasses in the world are worth it. I think its worth it.
@@mr.rodriguez3512 I can guarantee you that the 3rd party lenses aren't the same as an oakley lens. Theres a reason why oakley owns the rights to the XYZ or triple axis measurement that keeps the pitch of the lens from distorting incoming light. This ensures that your eyes see things at the same clarity and distance that they would without any glasses on. Its really amazing stuff when you know what goes behind it. Oakley has worked hard for decades to perfect optical clarity and contrast, and even continues to push the envelope with specific color contrast (prizm) for certain environments. Theres a reason why theyre the best in the world......it its because of plutonite.
