Ronnie Spector's version of HAIL, HAIL was iconic. Just found out she passed away today at 78. Breaks my heart. Grew up blasting this rendition. What a life. What a legend. RIP Ronnie.
Colarado Black 4:04 the Cowardly Lion: (played by Nathan Lane formally known as Joseph Lane) Real courage that's what we want I could use a brain too but courage will do. 😂😂😂 *LOL ROFL* It's been a very long journey.
Shed a few tears at 7:26 - 8:00!!!!! How karmic that the subtitle was "Dreams Come True". At the time, I never thought I'd hug the one and only Roger Harry Daltrey, CBE! But I eventually did and it was a totally Whogasmic experience. My hope is that those who haven't had said experience does so...if those UK lockdowns ever ease up.
It is very interesting that the Wizard does not depart from the Emerald City in this production. That means audiences get to see Glinda and the Wizard together unlike the book and the 1939 film.
+Colarado Black The "long journey" part was deleted from the movie but its in the script-I think, but I believe the part about wanting a brain was ad-libed-but in the RSC script the Lion does say at one point when he gets scared "Scarecrow's not the only one who needs a new brain!"
8:35 seeing this makes me ship Professor Marvel (in the sepia universe) and Glinda's unseen counterpart in the sepia universe btw Joel Grey has still got it (he is really a sentimental man after all)
It never occurred to me that Natalie is wearing a white dress almost the entire concert, but all of a sudden has a pink one on in this scene. I wonder why she wasn't wearing the pink one the whole time. The real Glinda never wore white.
@@sralyn I have to agree with you especially with the part where he says oh thank you from the bottom of my heart and he does that stupid overdramatic crying thing oh my Lord Jack Haley would be disgusted

That show really brings back a lot of memories.
Wonderful memories on watching this! I'm in tears by the end of it! Wonderful entertainers!!
This entire show was great ... I loved every minute.
The Greatest Cowardly Lion ever! Yay Nathan!

Bert Lahr must be spinning in his grave
Well, after Bert Lahr
I remember watching this when it first aired. My introduction to the fabulous Jewel.
CKB4689 Same to me too when I was a kid.
the wizard of oz is a classic

Did Nathan improvise that bit about him needing a brain and it being a 'very long journey'? It doesn't appear in the movie I know

If someone wanted to create a parody for “Ding Dong The Witch is Dead”, the song would be “Ding Dong The Hook is Dead” for the movie Hook.

+CKB4689 They might have been trying to imply that Natalie was playing two separate characters, as there are two good witches in the original book.
+Jansci7G Ohhh! I never thought of it that way!
Judy Garland is turning over in her grave thanks to Jewel and I'm not saying this to be kind.
Is it safe to say the same about Jack Haley...thanks to my sweet babboo?
