@@natkobratko3198 By all means, if we were talking about some niche fragrance trying to be different, or anything like that, sure, go ahead, but when we're talking about a mass market fragrance, that's supposed to be at the hands of pretty much anyone out there, and they wanna charge 190 bucks for that, that just doesn't make any sense for us mass market consumers.

Then hold onto the bottle.. it will become rare and valuable. Midnight in paris was a cheap 50 dollar perfume that nobody bought. It got discontinued and now they go for 300+ where you can find it.

You can’t keep water based fragrances for ever or resell them a year or two later. Bacteria grows in water. In alcohol nothing grows so that’s why you have people selling vintage perfumes.

Thanks for your honest review Ash. Great breakdown. Designers have lost their minds with pricing and quality and they're wondering why Middle Eastern fragrances have taken over the market. Losers.
That's why new western fragrances are $200. Arabs took over the market and I fully support them.
This review is 100% what I expected. Water based frags are traditionally trash. Overpriced water based frags are an insult to consumers.

theres no way to make a water based perfume have a clear formulation. The emulsifier needed to keep it all together creates this milkiness. it could be worse it could separate and look nasty
I'm grateful for this review. The moment I heard it's water based and alcohol free, I thought - Weak... So if Elixir was the game winning homer, Forte is the 3-2 strikeout with bases loaded.

The efforts and information, as well as your general opinions on the other things surrounding the fragrance, are all greatly appreciated!

@@drummer8946 I never used the term “sweet spot,” as that would imply there is a middle ground. This video isn’t his review, it’s his first impressions video. In his first impressions videos he goes into tangents and information about the fragrance, the controversies, theories about the marketing and the industry, the perfumer, and the direction the brand is going, and it’s competition. It’s his first impressions on the scent and the situation, and it’s for his viewers who actually want to know what his thoughts and opinions are, not just reading the notes on the box, saying yeah that smells okay, and then asking you to like and subscribe. lol. If you exclusively want to know how it smells go watch a UA-cam short by Chaos Fragrances or something, no hate to him.
I'm going to miss Francis Demachy who retired three years ago from Dior. He was my favorite perfumer ever and made some of the most incredible classics during his helm there. Hopefully Kurkdjian can keep up the standard but it seems to me like a conflict of interest when he is still running his own eponymous fragrance company as well as doing Dior.😮
Apparently, he can't. Francis just pulled the biggest slip-and-fall in the fragrance industry I've ever seen in my life.
Honestly hoping it flops. I do not want my cologne to be alcohol-free and water based. It’ll be a skin scent MUCH sooner and have horrible projection than if it had alcohol in it. Also the liquid looks unappealing to spray yourself with.
Why do edp projects more than extrait de parfum? Im curious why more alchohol is better than more oil

I tested this a week or so after it came out and instantly liked it. I truly love this one. I think this is one of the best in the line right behind elixer. My only problem with it is the price but that’s par for the course these days with all designer fragrances. Give it a chance. Water based is a little gimmicky and may effect the longevity and sillage but I get a sold 7-8 hours on this. I would say it’s on par with the Parfum and maybe the EDP.

From what I’ve been seeing, MFK is doing a mid or ok job at DIOR right now. He is know for doing light and molecular fragrances. I thought it be cool and fresh for a younger man to be doing it. But he’s proving everyone right that he isn’t cutting right now.
I hope he’s just getting used to the DIOR materials and process. Hopefully DIOR isn’t neutering him.

So far FK hasn't created a single worthwhile fragrance for Dior. He should stick to making basic, almost molecular overpriced fragrances for his own maison

This made me want to put on the EDT after like 3 years
I couldn't find a single scent from MFK i liked, so it's no surprise how this worked out. My signature scent is still 2021 bottles of Elixir. Demachy is a legend, Francis, erm no thank you. Keep your new wave artistic projects for yourself.
Now since we got Dior's men's fragrance release out to the public. All eyes are on you Chanel with Allure Homme Sport Superleggera and Eros Energy
No doubt. I’m looking forward to Eros Energy the most but Chanel could surprise us with something killer

I love the honest reviews Ash! Dior will have a very tough time selling their stock.
They possibly had to move some over stock of ageing aroma chemicals, and Sauvage Forte is a way to do this with no massive loss on their end if its a flop.
He absolutely trashed it. And that was being very kind!!!!

This will be 86’ed by the end of the year. They should have released a 30ml and 60ml Attar oil version if they wanted to go down the alcohol free route.

Didn't AZZARO already did an alcohol free fragrance with CHROME Under The Pole & NAUTICA did Oceans Pacific Coast which is also alcohol free? Yes they did! ... It isn't a new concept.
Alcohol free is probalbly marketed for middle east region cause a lot of musilm people believe that alcohol in Parfumes invalidates the Ablution which is done and is a must before going to pray so in this case they usually use alcohol free or fragrance oils.

Maybe they’re hoping that clones will not be able to exist due to the complexity of the composition

I'm honestly shocked he didn't launch a new flagship men's release. I think that would've been the better way to establish himself as the new house perfumer. He has to know that too, which makes me think they probably insisted he do something with Sauvage. But why choose to go in this direction? Oh well, I hope it flops hard so we don't have to deal with every other brand trying to shove it down our throats before they realize it's just not the way to go.
I think he reformulated dior homme 2020 and now it lasts much longer and it smells better. But i agree with you on sauvage. I don't know what were they thinking

Yeah I’m gonna wait for this to hit discounters. I also suspect the water based solution will allow this to degrade faster since alcohol actually does act to preserve the formulation for longer periods of time.
I can always count on Gent Scents honesty! I knew this was going to be a BS release when I read the notes. Savuage has always been fresh no need, we needed a sweeter savauge.

I knew that was always the problem with these alcohol-free fragrances. They’re just a personal skin scent. I can’t believe the first male fragrance they gave Kurkdjian to create is this make-a-water scent of popular Savage.🤨 Its like setting them up to fail.

This alcohol free thing is to cater to the middle eastern and Asian market at alcohol is haram for sizeable population due to religious reasons.... They use water based scents more often
I’m most Middle Eastern countries alcohol is not legal so attars oils and formulas like this would be sold there so I’m thinking this could be a way to market to places like that too.. 🤷🏻♂️

Interestingly, Demachy was the nose behind the alcohol-free J'adore Parfum d'Eau, which was released in 2022. I'm not sure it did that well on the market since no one seems to talk about it, but for me, it works very well because the OG J'adore, while beautiful to me on other women, smells like I rubbed melted gold bars on my skin lol. The alcohol-free version is much fresher, greener, airer, and just perfect for after a shower or as a refresher after being in the sun for a while. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind taking Sauvage down that road, but I could see it being used in environments where scent sensitivities are a concern or perhaps even as a first real cologne for young teens (13-14) who notoriously use stuff like Axe to gas people out lol.
Wearing the EDP as my SOTD and even though folk trash it for being common, sadly I disagree. I love this stuff

I noticed on the bottom of the box .. use within 12 months 🤔 while the alcohol version used within 36 months. So it could go off quicker won’t be buying it. 😊
