@@bushratbeachbum Synthetic rope has become popular for winches and pulling. The problem with that for logging is they wear out faster if they get drug into the dirt.
We call coiling a cable like that a Molly Hogan. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing. I’ve seen it in loggersports competitions
Jeez rope 14 footers must be nice. I’m use to 9/16 steel swedged 20 feet and on our Stimson ground we are running 4 and 4 pre setting
We use these for concrete pipe. Nobody ever puts them away properly. Wish they would.

We used to use old tires. Just wind it into the inside of the tire.

We did it the same way back in the 1960's.
A lot of the things we do now we can thank you guys from back then for what you figured out.
The loose strands will make your fingers sore when they get poked. But chokers are the ticket for sure.
Yep alternatives have come out to try to replace them, but these are what the industry still uses.

@@WilsonForestLands ah coolo. Yep, i use dyneema but try to keep it out of the dirt as much as possible
